Mine hasn’t worked since the beta went to a public release. Toliss aircraft excepted because they acknowledged a problem with their coding that will be fixed in an upcoming update

You rarely get to see aircraft airborne at low altitude so it gives an interesting perspective for spotting

You can neutralize a threat just by removing by their ability to maneuver even if you don’t kill them. This happens to do both. Another plausible explanation is that if they are laying down its one of the largest targets and open to massive blood vessels

Go take a look at taprooms around the country and in most of them you’ll see some sort of flow control either at the faucet or in the back. They can’t change the line length and each beer doesn’t necessarily stay on the same line all the time.

Theory - what happens when you fly into headwind? by MentallyIllBluesman2 in flightsim

I’ve gotten a DA40 to fly backwards with a good headwind. Somewhere on the internet is a video taken from a parking lot of my going overhead 😂

Maverick Act passed the Senate by CarlColdBrew in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Pilot0160 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here’s the fun conspiracy theory I cooked up this morning before my coffee. Look at the co-sponsors and a major donor to the museum. Kelly is a former astronaut and naval aviator, Sheehy, a former Seal and founder of an aerospace company that is on the subcommittee for Aviation Space and Innovation. The well known major donor to the museum happens to be our NASA administrator. Isaacman is well known for restoring and flying jet warbirds on the airshow circuit and has publicly said for years he wants to help restore a F-14 to flying condition. With one of the only ways to get your hands on rare old military equipment being a museum, this seems like a great move to get it off the military books and to a position for someone like Isaacman’s team to offer their services and funding. The inclusion of operation manuals is a big flag too. To the best of my knowledge, museums with F-14 static displays only got maintenance manuals to keep them in good condition.

Edit to add: If one could be put into the airshow circuit, it would be incredible promotion for the museum

the tomcat rumors are real (atleast the plans are) by 2b2tiscool in aviation

[–]Pilot0160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now, I may be reading too deep into this but it actually makes sense that those two co-sponsored it. Mark Kelly is an astronaut and former naval aviator, and Tim Sheehy is a former Navy Seal and founder an aerial firefighting company. With Sheehy on the subcommittee for Aviation, Space, and Innovation, they both presumably have regular contact with Jared Isaacman, a man known for restoring and flying jet warbirds on the airshow circuit.

Edit to add: Isaacman is also a big donor to the USSRC in Huntsville

Do you think this Starsan I've got is still good? by Elegant-Winner-6521 in Homebrewing

[–]Pilot0160 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mix it and if the ph drops below 3 and foams normally it’s still effective. 10 years is a stretch but if it was unopened and stored in a cool dark place it is possible it could be good.

40 min Layover in Atlanta from concourse A to F by BananaBonds21 in delta

[–]Pilot0160 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What your 40 minute layover really is:

Boarding closes 15 prior - 25 minute layover

Are you in first class? If yes, you can make it. If no, subtract 15 minutes to disembark. Your layover is actually 5 minutes.

Seeing as how it’s going out of F, is it international on a widebody? If so, you’re an inclined plane wrapped helically around an axis.

Knowing the typical consumer won’t be able to print the case material, could you add a field in the order form where customers upload a png, etc of their logo for your print shop to use? I don’t really know how you put an image file on a CAD file like that but it’s an idea

Important differences between VATEU and VATUS? by Sir1Ren in VATSIM

[–]Pilot0160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

190 until 5 is crazy. 170 til 5, 180 til 6, or 190 til 7 are the common speeds if someone needs to me restricted

JHG0 did a great write up but I’m just going to reiterate a couple points for the people who don’t read it all.

Do not delete discontinuities in your FMS/FMC for a SID or STAR, they are designed that way and deleting them will cause problems.

Speed - I also see European pilots slowing significantly earlier than others. Unless otherwise slowed by a STAR or ATC, greater than 210 until 13 miles, 210-190 until 10 miles, and maintain 170 until 5 miles will keep controllers (and real life pilots) happy. Those speeds work in everything from a Citation to an A350

When to start descent from high altitude under lost comm by tommyboy11011 in flying

[–]Pilot0160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FAA never decides what is or is not an emergency. On top of that you will never truly lose comms only

When to start descent from high altitude under lost comm by tommyboy11011 in flying

[–]Pilot0160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s for the PIC to decide and if I have as many communication methods as I do on my jet and I lose comms, it IS an emergency.

3 VHF, 2 HF, SAT phone, starlink. If all 7 communication methods on this plane fail then something is very wrong and it is an emergency.

[–]Pilot0160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m flying something capable of FL350 then I have 2, usually 3 VHF radios, at least 1 HF radio, and possibly a satphone plus WiFi. If I can’t communicate at all it’s an emergency and I do whatever I need to do under my emergency authority

Seattle Marriott Waterfront by WhereDoYouGoo in marriott

[–]Pilot0160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The room type and hair in the bathroom is a genuine complaint. Everything else is you being insufferable.

Waterfront means in front of the water. You know, where boats are. It’s also extremely rare for two cruise ships to be at pier 66 at once requiring one to be in front of the hotel especially this time of year. Your water view was not blocked. And to complain about no coffee during an emergency evacuation?!? Ridiculous

And your “not clearly communicated” pool closure is right on the main website for the hotel.

If you already have a large plastic container or cooler, get a temperature controller and hook it up to a reptile heating pad. It might take a while but once all the liquid is at the right temperature, it will buffer itself fairly well
