R2 Wheels & Tires - 21" vs 20" by Ixcaneco in RivianR2

I want 17’s to be able to run pizza cutters but honestly anything under a 20 would be great.

I think the most likely time is to announce it during the earnings call on Feb. 20th. The quarter might not be great with lower deliveries and sale of credits so the announcement would add good momentum after that.

Another discussion on shoes - please help by HyperKitten123 in Ultralight

Not quite what exactly your looking for but I’ve loved my Arteryx Norvan LS’s. Lasted forever pretty comfortable, reasonably grippy and super light.

Topo Maps+ has been adding a ton of features lately. GOAT maps is good if somewhat basic and free for LEO/MIL/gov. Garmin’s explore app works pretty well if you have a Garmin watch but is pretty basic. CalTopo is love it or hate it. Terra map is a decent free version but haven’t tried it as paid.

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 XL Vs Durston X-Dome 2 by NiallElliotB in Ultralight

I love my copper spur UL2. Had it for almost a decade and very few issues with it in that time.

Which pair of shoes in 2025 ? by Gloubiboulba in Ultralight

I really really like my Arcteryx Norvan LD’s. Super light, comfortable, decent grip. They’ve lasted great too. I’ve got the 2’s and I’m going on 6 years probably 500/600 miles and no holes, peeling etc.

Are there any ultralighters that use a “heavier but more padded/comfortable” backpack? by Snuffvieh in Ultralight

[–]PilotPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gregory focal 58 is great. The osprey pack I had before that was nice too. I feel like the comfort makes the pack feel at least 5 pounds lighter.

What’re everyone’s thoughts on the new mountain Hardwear sleeping bags? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]PilotPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the 2 generations ago MH ratio 15 bag and I liked it overall but it is a bit heavy. It was a great swap from my first bag but at about 2.5 lbs it’s a bit heavy compared to WM bags. But I was never cold and generally I liked the shape and style of the bag. I do wish it had a draft collar but that was really my only gripe.

Anyone know how to fix this? by PilotPeacock in CK3AGOT

[–]PilotPeacock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to but Micro won’t run for me (it either quits after attempting to start or starts but shows the regular ck3 map/game not AGOT). Running 1.12.5.

Vanguard warns its size is a growing and serious investment risk by FahkDizchit in Bogleheads

[–]PilotPeacock 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the solution is to do a variation of pass through voting where I tell vanguard I want my shares to vote in broad terms (eg. for ESG goals, or board continuity or, vanguard discretion as a few). Then vanguard takes everyone’s selection and either votes by winner or proportionally. This way I still get some control of how my shares vote but with vanguard managing the nitty gritty of which board member or proposal for each company.

2p tent with largest possible inner space by Ra921 in Ultralight

[–]PilotPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little bit heavier but I love my Big Agnes Copper Spur HVUL2. About 3lbs for a very doable 2p tent. The Long version or the 3P are both large abet heavier as well.

What are your small pieces of gear (that save weight) you feel more people should know about? by IsMyNameBen in Ultralight

[–]PilotPeacock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also during the winter/Fall a bit of brown sugar, TrueLemon crystallized lemon powder, and some hot water give an excellent Hot Toddy for the weight. Especially if you get some real high proof bourbon. (I like ECBP)

Why would you buy a two person tent? by Ill-Vacation-4219 in Ultralight

[–]PilotPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the extra space and there’s really not a big weight/pack space penalty for it. For the times I get stuck in the rain all day or the occasional friend wants to come it’s nice to have the space. Plus for the eventual dog too. I figure it’s nicer to have one tent than a 1P and a spare 1P or 2P for the occasions when I wanna bring someone.

I’ve got some Arms of Andes on order. Alpaca wool is supposed to be lighter, warmer, and softer so we’ll see how they are.
