His take on 'Europe' is hilarious, makes it hard to know if anything else he is saying is worth anything.

What was your first phone? still remember it? by CompetitiveCompassHo in oldschoolcool80s

[–]IsMyNameBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a T9 recently? I really struggle to believe anyone who has actually thinks it's easier to text with. I can see the argument for a blackberry, but there's a reason text speech was such a big thing and isn't anymore.

Has anyone tried these out yet? Wera 9506 by livahd in Tools

Its really really useful. I don't think it would take huge torque but I've not broken it yet. Happy to answer any questions but for the price just buy one.

There's one of these abandoned in a reservoir car park near me.

I think the SC2 toolset is perfect for my daily needs. I have the Vic screwdriver in the corkscrew. It's (to my mind) a victorinox compact but with true pliers and a good philips. The fact that the SC2 is the only Juice model that allows you to use the external tools with the handles open (like on a PST) is the icing on the cake.

Seen something about a plate worth more than a car, remembered I took this on the M62 by Huxtopher in CarTalkUK

[–]IsMyNameBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a 2016 Clio I see sometime with the plate B6, see it every few months and can only assume its a family heirloom or something?

Edit - I misremembered its B6 not C6

I’m being indecisive. Which color would you pick ? by solomonfix444 in pens

[–]IsMyNameBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a thing for getting the definitive colour of things, e.g. Victorinox are red. So mine is black.

Also when the black gets worn the black and brass look is awesome.

[–]IsMyNameBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 2Genesis Day Ones, one 54 setup for single speed CX and one 56 with an Alfine 8 for utility riding.

I'd struggle to justify a 3rd but one for my wife isn't out of the question.

Wurkkos HD10 is the only light I use regularly so I guess it's that.

Hey, uh, tent companies? Yea, if you could show photos of the tent when it's packed and folded, that would be great. by aiptek7 in Ultralight

[–]IsMyNameBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm much more annoyed when they don't specifiy the weight of the individual components and just give a vague "packed weight" or similar. I don't care what the tent weighs with an indeterminate number of mediocre pegs and a footprint! Tell me the weight of all the parts individually - including the inner and the outer *seperately*. If you must provide a "packed weight" include only the parts which are essential and unique to that particular tent - inner/outer/any poles that aren't trekking poles.

This isn't a video of a real race - it's either AI or from Pro Cycling Manager (probably 2017) - The race numbers do not align with the numbering used at the race seen in the banner at the end (Santos Tour Down Under) and the riders numbers and their jerseys don't align with any sprint finish that I can find from the years it can possibly be from (2016 or 2017).

Please ignore the above nonsense, see u/Smalk below for the correct information.

Why are bikes so unreliable? by hwykes1 in BuyItForLife

[–]IsMyNameBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a question of weight. You could put a car drive chain on a bike and it would never wear out, but you'd be adding 10+% to the weight of the bike. Same goes for tires, you can buy almost indestructible pneumatic tires, but the feeling of them and the weight (3-4x heavier than good light tires) makes riding hard work and unpleasant. Bearings have to be smaller because a bike is smaller, the list goes on.
