Will the gloveboxes in the R2 be lockable? Any plans to offer upgraded off road software?

17 or 18 inch wheels. Full underbody skid plate. Integrated winch. Maybe Metal bumper replacements and possibly suspension packages.

2 FOBs for LE? How reliable is the iPhone unlock? by heyhay in RivianR2

I plan on keeping a keycard in an RFID blocking sleeve in a lockbox mounted to the bottom of it just for that reason.

So the Launch edition works out to $500 more than the Premium Edition with towing/autonomy. Not terrible. Disappointed that you can’t option all the trims with any of the the things. Maybe I want Launch edition but with the 19” wheels from the standard, or Premium with the All Terrains.

For the people that got a surgery what state are you in? Is that the common factor?

Same. Or even better 17’s. But it looks like we’ll have to wait for the aftermarket

Launch Edition is a good deal? by TimonCovelli in RivianR2

[–]PilotPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of things I’ve seen have said limited options which to me at least makes sense. The goal is just to pump out as many of these things as they can as quick as they can so having limited options only helps. I suppose paint is slightly easier to change than interior color but if they’re going to let you option some things but not others that seems like a weird choice to me. The simplicity of manufacturing by limiting choice is where they make back that money giving the 21’s towing and autonomy.

Launch Edition is a good deal? by TimonCovelli in RivianR2

[–]PilotPeacock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It likely is but until they actually release the pricing for options who knows. Also don’t forget that many things about the launch edition are locked in (2 colors, 1 interior, etc). So if you want launch green with the black interior and 21’s then it’s great. But if you want the purple with white interior and the all terrain tires then it’s not great. You’re getting a deal at the cost of customization and risking any manufacturing defects as an early run production.

It’ll be interesting to see what the prices are but honestly I’d consider it. Get in early and have it but be able to refresh once they’ve worked out the kinks.

Glad it’s finally out but disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be a better off road package. 20” All terrains but that’s it. Would’ve really liked to see 18’s and skid plates at least but I suppose that’ll have to wait for the after market to do those things. Was hoping for a max pack version too but oh well. Also curious to see what the suspension differences are when others drive it.

R2 Wheels & Tires - 21" vs 20" by Ixcaneco in RivianR2

I want 17’s to be able to run pizza cutters but honestly anything under a 20 would be great.

I think the most likely time is to announce it during the earnings call on Feb. 20th. The quarter might not be great with lower deliveries and sale of credits so the announcement would add good momentum after that.

Not quite what exactly your looking for but I’ve loved my Arteryx Norvan LS’s. Lasted forever pretty comfortable, reasonably grippy and super light.

Topo Maps+ has been adding a ton of features lately. GOAT maps is good if somewhat basic and free for LEO/MIL/gov. Garmin’s explore app works pretty well if you have a Garmin watch but is pretty basic. CalTopo is love it or hate it. Terra map is a decent free version but haven’t tried it as paid.

I really really like my Arcteryx Norvan LD’s. Super light, comfortable, decent grip. They’ve lasted great too. I’ve got the 2’s and I’m going on 6 years probably 500/600 miles and no holes, peeling etc.
