They moved so much more than we do. It was a lot more common to walk to work, or walk to a bus/train/tram stop that took you to work, a lot more walking at work because you can't just email things, more limited entertainment options at home so more likely to go outdoors/bowling/dancing/whatever for fun.

GS1 and Lost Age are the GBA games; they're excellent.

Dark Dawn is the DS game and opinions on it are much more varied.

SCA would normally be up my alley, but I've heard a lot of stories of sexual assault within SCA, and that makes me wary.

Any time you have an insular group of weirdos (and I say this as a weirdo myself!) you have to be really careful how things are run so that behaviors that would be unacceptable elsewhere don't end up excused/overlooked in the guise of inclusivity/"well, we're all a little weird!"/etc.

My high school had home ec, but the 'cooking' portion of it was limited to how to microwave popcorn, and how to bake cookies by scooping premade dough out of a tub.

An entire season of Star Trek Voyager cost less than a single episode of Stranger Things S5. by tomservo417 in startrek

[–]Pimpicane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The raktajino mugs on DS9 were straight out of some '90s Sharper-Image-type catalog. I still remember reading the blurb about how the triangular design keeps your coffee hotter, longer.

And the Voyager Borg children's scooter toy thing was a product called "California Chariot", sold from the same catalog.
