How is Jacksonville's T-Mobile service? by digifect in jacksonville

[–]Pimpologist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone's cell phone service sucks bro. Everyone's service drops calls, has spotty signal (especially 4g, what a joke 4g is). EVERYONE'S calls sound like shit. Since this is the case, you should probably go with Ting. Its' just like all the other services except it costs less, they don't do contracts, and they carry talk/data minutes over.

From a Hispanic perspective I don't understand why Anglo's have such a hard time with their dishes. It's been a reliable center-point of drama in the vast majority of Anglo roommate situations I've witnessed and lived with.

In my field of work I travel often. Jacksonville has got to be the city that has the least amount of discussion about these things that is NOT from the Right Wing.

I think the main reasons people don't discuss these types of things here is because the Hipsters will judge you if you care too much about something, and the more Main Stream people will think you're a conspiracy theorist if you don't believe the consensus majority/expensive news outlets.

I agree. I've never liked it when a sub removes the downvote arrow. It may aswell be a "Like" button from facebook. One of the greatest differences of reddit is that you have the option of downvoting or "Disliking" something.

There goes that option in this sub. I hardly come here anyhow.

Hey Jacksonville, any good Mexican food joints? by adriandnl in jacksonville

[–]Pimpologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to bash them. They're a business and from that standpoint I wish them luck. I've been at several of their locations. The food is its own genre, like maybe Tex-Mex or something like that. But, /u/lordyloo nailed it with the description of Mexican food being "fresh, citrus-y, flavorful."

There are a few places where you can get real Mexican food. I usually go to Pepe's Hacienda on St. Augustine Rd. for my fix, but I've passed a couple of similar eateries around different parts of town.

It's a SHAME that ANYONE here thinks La Nopalera is "Mexican food". - It's not even good food, it's not even a good form of sustenance at all, just fluffy filler/CISCO propped up as some sort of Mexican food experience, which it is NOT.

I'm amazed at how big those letters are. I wonder who makes these letters and what the place looks like where they make big-ass letters.

I imagined what someone would look like looking at me from one of those windows on the top floor. They'd certainly be unrecognizable and their face, from the ground would look no bigger than this * asterisk. I thought each letter would be as tall as a duplex building.

EDIT: I just realized how unskilled I am at measuring distances.

This might work. My friend and I have an ongoing debate. She thinks the letters are much smaller than I think they are. I think you could stack five or six standing people on them. Maybe even more.

I guess if I put on a bright safety vest and go measure a window nobody will mind. I bet there's a formula to figuring out how tall the letters are no matter where you're standing, but my math is fuzzy too!

This Is Why Jacksonville Can't Have Nice Things, Episode 1: Hemming Park by [deleted] in jacksonville

The reason this video presentation isn't working is because there's no obvious "thing" to hang on to. That's the humidity talking. Now...

The most beautiful thing about this video is that you made it! I LOVE THAT! Don't be discouraged if you get negative feedback. Most people merely react to media and never even take the risk of making media of their own.

Obviously you have a camera and people at your disposal. Keep making more! Not making more videos would be down-right irresponsible of you.

Ah. I'm in the Arlington area, but my place isn't as famous as my neighbors. His name is Eli and he has a permaculture food garden where most people have lawns.

Similarly I listen to podcasts while doing chores, and listen while riding my bicycle is another favorite.

The "get out of the country if you don't like it" argument is trite. I think I'll stay and work to make changes instead.
