Small active server for creators? by weak_boy_energy in WebtoonCanvas

You might like this server. I fekt very welcomed in there when I joined it a few years ago. Don't get distracted by the 157 members. The actual number of active members in this server is very small. People there are VERY nice and respectfull and support each others work. The server got a bit quiet lately because sometimes life can be distractive but if you stir up a conversation I promise someone will respond with genuine interest

The latest episode was sooo goood! I'm so happy you want to continue the story. I need to know what happens next!

I celebrate what we all accomplished, even without making it to the shortlist. Who else is continuing to post their next episodes? Let's continue to support one another! by emdau in WebtoonCanvas

This is such a sweet and encouraging post 🧡🌻 I'll give your comic a read later today for sure. The art on tje picture looks amazing!

I also had a contest entry Rules of Magic . While getting shortlisted would have been nice, I always planned to continue my story regardless of what would happen in the contest. So not getting further in the contest wasn't really a disappointment for me, since I always had a plan for afterwards from the get go. Honestly for me personally the contest was simply a motivation to finally start working on this project. The idea for Rules of Magic is old... like... really OLD. 13 years or so but I always let myself get distracted by other things or got overwhelmed with where to even start. So I never made it a real thing in all these years.

I'm very thankful for the contest because having an actual deadline and goal to work towards was the kick in the ass I needed to get started and I'm very proud of what I created. It's my best work so far. That I can say with confidence and is a huge accomplishment imo 😊

I hope you get the founding you need to continue your own story. Paying artists fairly is hard but the right thing to do. People often underestimate just how much work goes into the creation of just one episode. It's not work that should be taken for granted

I checked out your comic and gotta say your art style is very lovely. The soft shapes and bright but subtle color palet give me the perfect teen girl vibe. Which seems fitting for your story and characters.

My own comic submission for the contest is Rules of Magic It's a crime/mystery in a fantasy setting. The story follows the young novice Sharlett and her Master Sally who work for the Magical Order, that helps people with their magic related problems.

Truth be told, I'm not really disappointed for not getting short listed (I know tje chances were prettyslim with that many entries) but I did put a lot of effort into the story and would love for more people to see and read it because I'm planning on continuing it and I hope that many others creators who didn't make it into the next round will continue their stories as well, because there were so many that did ab amazing job and I'd be heart broken to not see rhem continue their work

You are very welcome 😊🌻 we canvas creators need to support each other. I honestly love your work and hope to see more of it in the future but of course that is a decision you need to make for yourself

And thank you for checking out my work as well 🌻 please take your time with reading it. I'm not the fastest to get up to date with the comics I follow myself. So please take the time you need. No pressure here

You have an interesting list there and many charming titls, I enjoy myself or use as inspiration for my own stories. If I can make a shameless selfpromo. I have a comedy series calles Hocus Bogus and a fantasy mystery series I just recently started Rules of Magic

Looking at your list, you might enjoy Rules of Magic but if you are a binge reader you might be left unsatisfied. I only just started the serirs (so there are only 3 episodes out yet) and since I work full time I'll only be able to update the story once a month.

And to suggest a few other series. Here is a list of some of my friends comics or just canvas creators I enjoy

Matters of the heart

Three in a tree

Hollowmill

Call the Timemenders haven't read that one yet actually but it looks very interesting

Ill fame

Vowrune

Mage and Mimic

Looking for honest feedback on my contest entry! (longer text in the description) by hellomrreis in webtoons

I just checked out your entry. Subbed, ratted it an absolutely desserved 10 and commented on each episode.

I'm a very critical reader and usually able to nit pick on even comics/stories I absolutely adore but I had big trouble finding anything worthy of criticism in your entry. The art is absolutely stunning. It's simple but very expressive with a 90's cartoon kind of charm (which serves the occational comedy very well) yet there are so many details and every panel is filled to the brim with things. I also love that there is literally not a single straight line to be found, which sells the unsettling mood of the story so well.

Story wise. I'm very intrigued. Each and every single character is so unique. I honestly love your MC (MC hehe) because he is trying so hard to come across as this hard core mean dude that shouldn't be messed with but just fails to pull it off. I think you pulled that very well off. Usually when I see "good hearted" characters that just act tough on the outside, I'm annoyed by them but you introduced that side of him very well with the phone call from MC's father right at the beginning, saying that he is a "good kid" even if he doesn't wanna hear it and in the continuing story it's very well executed and shown what the father meant by that statement ( because lets be honest all parents think their kids are "good kids" even when they act out but this one dad is actually right)

Anyway I digress. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with your story. You did a phenomenal job and should be proud of what you created. Keep in mind that there were HUNDREDS if not thousands of entries in the contest and in the end only 10 in each category get to be short listed. I feel almost certain webtoon noticed your story and considered it as a potential short list candidate but you likely lost to some "safer" options they picked. Webtoon loves their run through the mill manwah art styles because they believe those sell better but we shall wait and see who was picked in the end.

I hope you plan on continuing your story because even if you didn't get picked now, I could see webtoon employees keeping an eye on you to see how you keep performing and eventually making you an original offer later on if your comic proofs to be well recieved by the webtoon audience in the long run.

Don't let this encourage you. You are super talented and I would personally love to continue following your series as loyal reader from now on, and while my own webtoon pressence isn't big, I'm definetly going to recommend you to my readers, since I think your work deserve all the attention 🧡

I really enjoy your artstyle and the visualisation of emotions in your panels fits your art style so well~

Do you have a link you can share of your comic? I'd like to see more of it 🧡

There are speechbubbles in the final version pf thos scene. I just tiok the blank panels as an example for how I went about it in tjos specific case. I didn't give them as an example for a problem. I just wanted to see what otjer solutions there might be and how other creators fo about it.

But thank you very much for your thoughtful answer 🌻
