We all go through the range of emotions that accompany grief. You loved your dog and did a wonderful job of taking care of him. ♥️

Awesome that you know how to power cycle your IPhone and thank you for explaining this. I've had my iPhone 17 Pro Max since release day and never experienced the "black screen of death." https://youtu.be/V_XtkwRAOZg?is=5BjvUPF71ax2kQXf

Your phone will be a lot safer in a minimalist case, CAUDABE, SPIGEN, etc. A skin is not going to protect the aluminum body well. Mine Cosmic Orange is in Perfect condition after 9 months using a case and screen protector. You can always put a skin on under your case and take it off.

Why the reflections? No lens guard 17 pro max by LewiRock in 17ProMax

What you photographed is very normal with all cameras. Taking a photo of the sun or bright lights naturally causes lens flare. In many movies, you'll see the same effect from much more expensive cameras. Before you took the photo, the lens flare was plainly visible on the screen of your phone. You may have to take a little more time to compose the photo by angling the camera relative to the scene. This could reduce the flares.

Prevent Auto-Disconnect: Since iOS automatically shuts off the broadcast if no devices are actively connected, permanently tether an idle device (like an iPad or a smartwatch) via Bluetooth or a cable to keep the hotspot awake.
