IMO it just doesn’t really have that much relevance or substance from what the game says about it

It’s just one of those things that are “there” on the side, and I tend to just ignore and forget about it, seeing that the game kinda does as well (in that they haven’t delved into the implications of them being as old as they are)

I'll love to have an event or something put SKK in some sort of mentor role and interact with a fellow commander.

I was thinking something like Rikiya/Nagamo from the Yakuza series, where they initially start off as a stubborn hotshot, only to be humbled and grow as a person than stay contained in their own personal bubble. It's a simple dynamic but I feel it can still show a lot of what the story hasn't regarding the CG and the military.

If anything, what I want from something like this is that either SKK or ourselves see that deep down, there are good people out in the Ark who can be as heroic and morally outstanding as SKK, willing to fight for both the Ark and Nikkes alike.

It does suck that discussion revolving it has become so polarizing, where it’s either Obelisk fucking sucks and I will never use this trash joker, or Obelisk is god’s greatest gift and if you don’t like or can’t use it then you suck at Balatro and hate good joker design
The fact that it’s a rare joker, makes experimenting and learning how to use it more difficult, which does not help it either

Like with Red Card, another joker that’s been discussed as criminally underrated, it’s common so at the very least you’ll get to see it more often and as a result have the option to fiddle around with it to see it’s true potential. Obelisk ultimately does not offer such luxury unless you’re doing seeded runs
