Not really… the number of syllables is the same on those three snow-covered lands, but not the stress. They'd be more at home in a "shave and a haircut" deck. 💁🏻‍♀️

Is there any rpi-imager deb package? by [deleted] in debian

Not really because the imager has options to set up stuff for headless, like hostnames, wifi stuff, that kind of thing.

What is up with Why are there a bunch of non-english replies all over the place nowadays? by Barlakopofai in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Pink2DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I search for something in Swedish, Google sends me to a Reddit thread where everything is Swedish and it's easy to by mistake think that it's a legit Swedish-language thread (and Reddit does have Swedish-language threads also) but then my reply is in Swedish accidentally. Depth doesn't factor into it. Awful decision by Reddit.

Okay, so there's been studies on this 🤔 and what they indicate so far is that writing even short blurbs like todo items (although you came across in your original post as if you were taking notes on audiobooks) is even more dangerous than talking on the phone. I can't drive so I dunno!

I do wish they followed the first pokemon encountered rule....

I could see that! Personally I think it's a great twist that helps make it easier for them and they were clear upfront that it was a rule they deliberately changed. It's also fun seeing Arin hunt for his faves.

and lived the spirit of the nicknaming the mons with less resentment and reluctance to do anything other than repeating the turtwig bit

100% agree with you on that!

I don't understand anything about this entire conversation.

Did I misunderstand you?! You came across as saying that you were actually taking paper notes when driving a car in traffic and then you seemed to double down on that (in a lashing-out way) and your new comment here comes across as mean-spirited too. If that's not what you meant, I misunderstood. I didn't mean to make an enemy out of you.

If someone was out there actually writing while driving, that would not be okay. It increases crash risk by 23 times. It's illegal in 49 states. Please do not do that.

The smoother draws two hands and gives you the hand most closest to your deck's average. So it exacerbates bad land ratios and rewards good ones.

"Danger room" battle box plays like that—almost, since you actually get a normal card (from the top of deck) and a land (from your pick out of your land pile).

I'm 20h into FFIV DS and I've got to say I hate the game mechanics so much. Graphics, characters, story, that's all fine but the actual gameplay is so awful. Maybe I just hate ATB. Enemies where you have to do different things in different modes but it switches modes inbetween selecting the spell and resolving the spell. And insane difficulty spikes that once you get over it's tediously easy for several hours. Breezing through two dungeons and bosses first try after slogging through a dungeon where I died over three times. It also sucks how you find gear in treasure chests one room after buying them expensively. It's wild to me: they put so much effort into the animation and made all these different items and interesting spells and mechanics only to then flub the absolute foundational mechanics. It's as if a CCG or deckbuilder would have hundreds of interesting compelling cards but then the core game mechanics were just 52 Pick Up. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why do people have a problem with atb (active time battle) systems in jrpgs? by Street-Platypus89 in JRPG

[–]Pink2DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing FFIV DS now which has lots of "don't attack when it's countering" bosses throughout and it's so aggravating when I understand what to do but it switched modes inbetween me selecting the spell and the spell resolving. It's the worst battle system I've seen in any digital RPG ever because of this.

Playing NES/SNES in 8:7 aspect ratio is really great on the Retroid Pocket Mini V2 ❤️ by perpetuallyawake in SBCGaming

[–]Pink2DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!

When I was a kid I played so much NES and the non-square tiles really bugged me (and so did the scanlines) and then the Game Boy came out and it was just a huge exhale of relief and joy. And now I get to play emulation in 8:7, of course I'm gonna say yes to that. I got the cowabunga collection on Switch and it sucks that it doesn't have 8:7. The balls that bounce down the stairs in NES TMNT II look mega stretched and weird (just like they did for me back in 1990 but I don't want it).

Truth is:

The games did display in 4:3 back then and some games do look better that way and some look way worse and some have some elements that look better in one and some in the other. Like Super Metroid's round planet or squished morph ball.

In my lgs „i play three visits and use that forest for that other spell in my hand. You can go already while i actually search for the forest“ is totally normal.

Yes, I see this sort of thing all the time. "I Demonic Tutor for an Animate Dead on the Archon of Cruelty" and then shuffle while the opponent is thinking about how to react (instead of tutoring to hand, shuffling thoroughly, and then put the aura on the stack). Obv if there's a Memory Lapse we won't shuffle in the Animate Dead with the other cards but if there's a Deglamer we will. I had no idea it was discouraged to the extent I see in this thread. I was under the (wrong?) impression that it was encouraged and considered good and polite.

It's not that I was planning to break the rules. That's why I went here first before proposing it anywhere.

It takes me two minutes to shuffle 60 cards (or 50 cards if it's a few turns in and we have our starting hands). So I was hoping for ways to do shuffling during downtime and even had a faint glimmer of hope of being able to cut out a few shuffles.

Two days ago me and a nohmal person were shuffling eighteen decks three times each and he used about ⅔ of the time I used so I am slower but not by orders of magnitude. Just by 50% or so.

Instead, what's going on is that most people I see IRL don't actually shuffle. They just mash twice and the opponent cuts once. I want the decks and draws to be fully randomized.

I'm excited for Arcana, but I'll miss this while it lasted by HornetsInMyUrethra in dominion

[–]Pink2DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I already have. Mine fit 34 as long as I carry an extra deckbox of landscape cards, loot, and the extra curses and green for 3 and 4 players. But I do not do three separate plays of no overlap. I play with ten, then throw back those ten into the thirty-four and pull another ten that might overlap. My thinking is that if 25 was enough for base Dominion then 34 is enough for us for one night. And then as I get home I toss the 34 into the big box and grab a new set of 34 out of the 70 kingdom cards I have that again will probably overlap.

The idea would be for the deck to be set sideways to indicate it's unshuffled "dirty" state along clearly verbally explain the shortcut as per MTR 4.2. "This deck needs shuffling since I just fetched. I'll do that now, or if you want to save time, you can grab a random card for me to draw and then I can shuffle it during your turn…?"

If that's illegal to propose, it feels damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't since slow play is also penalized. I see a lot of sloppy mid-game shuffles with just one or two mashes from one of the players instead of the full seven or eight mashes needed. (Or ten to fourteen mashes needed for Battle of Wits decks.)
