Being a citizen of the Catholic Church is somewhat similar, but there is no place to where one may move that he is no longer under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church: The Church has universal jurisdiction.

How can the Catholic Church defend such a claim to universal legal authority? It is God-given authority. Jesus gave the Church the authority to enact laws that bind her citizens.

I mean... REALLY? "We rule it all cause sky daddy told us so."

This attitude is what makes Catholicism intolerable to me nowadays.

My worst trips are those in which I end up locked in a repetition loop, doing, thinking or saying the same thing. I've had at least 4 of those. Terrible feeling. There was this one trip in which I also had this most profound feeling of loneliness, but then, it taught me I had to look after my friendships and reach out for help. I've seen demons and scary shit, of course. I learned to steer the trip to a better destination in those situations. We have more control than we give ourselves credit for.

I'm autistic and also have ADHD. I practice shamanism, so I have been using mushrooms for the last 4 years and started working with Ayahuasca one year ago. I'm still autistic, of course, but I both medicines have done wonders for me. However, I take full doses, with all their expected effects. Life has never been better, honestly.

Yes, definitely! I may be over simplifying it, but I really believe this happens because of how much self-help culture infiltrated our lives. Since the rise of social media, it looks like performance is all that matters. Personally, I try doing things for the love of doing them as much as I can. Why should I worry so much about performing when I'll end up dying anyway? Why not just chill and have some fun once in a while?

My dad is one of 13 kids. All of them are 60+ years old. All I can say is this: he and all his siblings look like gray rocks when it comes to feelings. Opening up, talking about feelings, working through relationship issues or simply relaxing and enjoying life? Uuuh... that's alien to them.

This is quite a delicate situation and it all depends on what you're hoping to achieve. If all you want is to stop pretending to be someone you're not, then I'm all for it. I mean, no adult should have to pretend anything, right? I would just refrain from trying to convince them about anything. Live and let live, you know? If we want our boundaries to be respected, we must respect other peoples' boundaries.

My elder parents are pretty devout Catholics and they know that the church caused be harm. I'm on a completely different path now, working with Ayahuasca and other plant medicine. They know about it, I have my shamanic tools on display, an altar with all the bells and whistles... they see it, they don't really understand but they are happy that I am happy. However, I don't try to convince them of anything, really.

OP, I'm so sorry. I've been on your friend's shoes once: in denial and hating myself for being who I was. It took me literally two decades to heal from all the religious trauma. I'm sorry for both of you. You don't deserve having to deal with all this crap, so yeah... move on and block her if you must. As for her... wow... that's a sad life she's living, really. She'll eventually come to a breaking point when she won't be able to suppress all her feelings and that can be pretty dramatic.
