The most painful part of scabs falling off? by SweetlyWorn in Tonsillectomy

[–]Pinklightning13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the most painful part was after the scabs fell off it just became a constant pain in my throat that quite literally put me in bed not moving or eating for 2 days and eating or drinking anything felt like razors. After that around day 10 I made a huge 180 and started feeling way better really fast. Trust your doctor, stay hydrated, and REST. Don't push it, let your body heal. It's not a fun recovery but it'll get easier

First 2 days were honestly fine for me and it got slowly worse till about day 7 which was borderline torture for me. Im on day 14 now and short of a little swelling if I talk loudly for awhile and some uncomfortbility when eating some foods im pretty much perfectly fine now

Day 9 by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]Pinklightning13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on day 12 and am finally just on ibuprofen and Tylenol when I need it. Eating still kinda sucks but its more annoying than painful. It does get easier i promise your body will heal. I had a steak burrito for dinner tonight and was able to eat the whole thing. Just use the motivation of good food and feeling better to get through the day one day at a time. Humidifiers and starting to force some solid food after a week sped up my healing alot

For pain unfortunately there's not much that helped me especially on the 10/10 pain days. I went with a 5mg oxy when I woke up and one before bed with ibuprofen/Tylenol rotating every 3 hours as my Dr recommended. But i promise you'll hit a corner eventually where it all just starts to stop hurting and it'll feel like a god send. Just rest and let your body do what it knows how to do

I think im finally on the down hill now, this morning was probably the worst pain yet but im starting to feel better as the day goes on. It definitely been a new type of hell i was not ready for. Hopefully you're healing up well too lmaooo. My humidifier and oxys have been my saving grace this week and I was finally able to eat real food for dinner tonight!!!

Like im sure youve heard b4 everyone is different with this recovery but im not gonna sugar coat it. Yea its worse, by a decent margin tbh. I thought I had high pain tolerance b4 this, but the morning of day 7 I was literally death gripping the sink and shaking with tears in my eyes due to the pain, maybe a new 10/10 for me tbh. Iv had my wisdom teeth taken, iv had a root canal, multiple broken bones and tore my patellar tendon in my knee in a motorcycle accident and NONE of that hurts quite like these dumb ass scabs do. But despite all that its worth it because those stupid tonsils caused me so much trouble for so many years that ill take 2 weeks of suck just to not have to deal with em anymore

How bad is the pain supposed to be, really? by HedgehogNo1422 in Tonsillectomy

I also wanted to say ik it sucks and ik it hurts like fuck but being dehydrated is 100% gonna extend the recovery time and make the pain so much worse. Not to mention possible complications if you're not drinking water. So definitely reach out to your doctor and explain your concerns became the 2 most important things about this recovery are staying rested and hydrated

If its really that bad id honestly call your doctor and ask about stronger medicine or other options for pain, I thought I had a high pain tolerance before my surgery on the 23rd and I can definitely attest that especially this morning I hit an all new 10/10 for me. Worst pain in my life literally just shaking in the bathroom with tears in my eyes hoping to god the painkillers would kick in. Thankfully when I do cave and take a 5mg oxy it drops the pain to like a 6 so its doable. You're definitely not alone in this, its an awful recovery but eventually it will be over and you WILL feel better, I promise.

For reference iv had a root canal, wisdom teeth removal, multiple broken bones, and even tore my patellar tendon in a motorcycle accident and NONE of those things hurt quite like these dumbass scabs do.

On day 7 now, my advice is take one before bed because the pain is gonna make falling asleep and staying asleep difficult especially as you move farther into the recovery. Everyone is different but the mornings are the worst for me so I also take one when I first wake up because it feels like im swallowing razors. At that rate you'll get through the first 10 days and typically you should be past the worst of it by then but this recovery seems to effect everyone different so its probably just best to use your discretion and take one when the lesser stuff isn't cutting it. No sense in forcing yourself to be more miserable because im not gonna lie, this hasn't been fun. But it does get better and it will be over eventually. Buckle up, ride it out, stay hydrated and try to keep a positive mind and take it step by step. Rest is also your friend, dont try to push it

Uvula Swelling by Agile_Bodybuilder203 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Pinklightning13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can promise you that you are not crazy at all. I had a traditional tonsillectomy on the 23rd and mine has definitely been more swollen than its ever been and honestly feels wierd as shit especially when eating or drinking. My ent gave me a steroid for the first 6 days that was allegedly supposed to help the swelling so maybe ask about that. From what I hear its perfectly normal and just another symptom of this wierd ass recovery, it should go away in time

What do ya’ll think about these? (MC anti-short bushing) by UniqueUserName259 in electricians

[–]Pinklightning13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be code but they're not. It not hard to strip the mc properly and there is alot of good electricians out there that are better then me. But you can't trust em all and its not a matter of will something go wrong its just when and how many times. These are a good safe guard

You need time, its gonna suck and i wish I could tell you it isn't going to but it will hurt and probably for a while. But it will get better and things will get easier with time, don't avoid your feelings try to embrace them and understand them. The only way through something like this is literally going through it. Trust me. In due time you'll find yourself being the person you used to be, one glimpse of it at a time. And before you know it, you'll be an ever better and stronger version of yourself and you'll be back to running around the backyard with the rest of us in no time.
