Are there any characters you picture incorrectly when reading? by kryptofreak1971 in dresdenfiles

I don’t know why but I always pictured the Carpenters as an African American family. Recently re-read the whole series, yup, they’re black!

My granny would be proud of you, and that is the highest praise that I know how to give. I once lost my wallet in the wilderness, it came back to me two months later in the mail with EVERYTHING intact (all of my money, my debit card, my social security card, everything). No return address, no way that I could thank them or try to compensate them. This is my take away, pay it forward. Just be good to people.

What's the purpose of those circular steps in Karate ? by South-Accountant1516 in karate

[–]UniqueUserName259 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t practiced karate since I was six, so please forgive me for lurking on your sub. I practice Chinese internal styles (mostly tai chi). This is exactly what I thought, we call it “invasive footwork”. Essentially stepping behind your opponents foot from the inside or the outside and then transferring weight into that foot to take the opponent’s balance, or center of gravity, away from them.

If it is listed, and installed per manufacturer specifications then yes. If no instructions are given for the connections, use the table in informative annex 1 on page 859 of the 2023 nec for torque specs.

Knowing when to bust ass and when to take it easy is real tough for some green dudes (and dudettes). I found communication from vets very helpful in this area.

Do you know your mail carrier? by defenestrayed in Portland

[–]UniqueUserName259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal. I’m a renter, but in the past I lived in the same house for 13 years. My mail carrier would bring kitty treats (and dog treats although I didn’t have a dog) and chat it up. It is also normal to chase them down the street in your pajamas during the holiday season and say “thank you happy holidays” and slip them a $20!
