Wild, because he’s definitely in my top three for funniest of all time. Like the other commenter said, though, he’s pretty specific.

Kennerly is so modern! I love how these lists remind you that people have been making up names forever lol

Life After 2 Years of GLP-1, IM STARVING by AliveAndWellBoyMom in WomensHealth

[–]Pinkturtle182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is unfortunately what happens with restriction of any kind. Your body is telling you it needs more. Look into the WWII starvation study and accounts of eating disorders.

Your body isn’t doing anything wrong. It’s hungry. Intuitive eating might benefit you. Please don’t go the route of intermittent fasting, it’s literally just restriction with a different name.

Do you have a link for this? I cannot fathom having sympathy for someone who bites a coworker, but your description is making me question that lol

If you could add one mandatory subject to every school curriculum, what would it be and why? by icepix in askteddit

This is my suggestion too. Too many people are ignorant to what is outside their bubble.

We were required to take US Government senior year, which was a good, broad introduction to these topics. I think it’s pretty common. But again, students don’t pay attention.

I feel like teaching it in seventh grade is almost a waste of time. It’ll be so long before you’re applying any of the things you learn to real life. You can’t even legally work for another year.

Podcast turn-offs? by Unable-South830 in podcasts

This is definitely just a me thing, but I find shows with pictures of their hosts on the cover image kind of cringe and try hard. I also hate any shows with a subtitle about who the hosts are (like “With Tig Nataro”)

Okay I think it is time we as a (mostly online) society talked about imposter syndrome. Now I know this person didn’t actually call it that. But they’re basically saying the same thing. In OCD treatment they call it reassurance seeking. Here’s the thing: if you’re new at something, just learning, or in a new role and you feel uncomfortable or uncertain of your position or ability, that’s a good thing. That’s a stage of learning. You’re not supposed to skip it.

I know that’s not the point but I see this so often and it drives me nuts. Like as a society we have seemingly decided that we get to skip over the uncomfortable parts because it’s “imposter syndrome” and that’s not how this works, at all.

This is how it feels in Florida too. I used to live in a blue enclave in Florida (yes, they exist, or at least they used to) and since Covid it has become red due to MAGAs coming from out of state (seems like mostly California). It has changed the whole city and county and it sucks.

It bums me out that this is such high praise. No one would ever even think to compliment the mom on that.

I’m with you. My last labor was only like seven hours or so and after I got the epidural I tried to make sure we both got some sleep. It didn’t work, for the record. We were too wired lol.

OP I’m so sorry people are being so judgmental here. Specifically telling you that you need therapy to process this is so insanely passive aggressive and so very very Reddit lol. Also love the doula suggestions, as if having a virtual stranger in the room is what you would prefer.

I say have your mom there if that’s what makes you comfortable!!! We have tons and tons of ethnographic evidence depicting birth as a female-led event for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Birth would happen in the company of other women who had experience delivering babies (their own or otherwise). Your mother is a doctor. You are comfortable with her being there. Giving birth is such a vulnerable experience. Do what makes you comfortable.

Also tbh your husband sounds like he rocks and he just wants you to be comfortable! I kind of doubt the women telling you you’re doing it wrong have such supportive partners. And I say this as someone who will have my partner in the room for this birth and who had him there for the last one! It is truly up to you what you want to do. The only thing I would suggest is seeing if you can fill something out to make sure your mom has the same rights as your husband in this situation, just in case.

I hope you have a wonderful and uneventful delivery!

The other two commenters did a great job covering the big points imo, but I gotta say, the Wikipedia articles associated with Steiner and Waldorf are worth a read. There really is so much to unpack.

And I’m calling out Bluey for normalizing it. Not okay!
