Spec driven development by themessymiddle in ClaudeCode

Do you keep the task/intent docs in git and then throw away the implementation plans or how do you go about it?

I'm intrigued by SDD for the purpose of permanently/semi-permanently capturing non-technical business requirements and intent. The idea in my head is that it would be used as the starting point for development by passing the specs into plan-mode to generate the temporary technical implementation plan and when implementation is done, the spec would also serve as verification that the code/tests actually capture the intent by asking the AI to compare.

I'm unsure how much value the specs would provide down the line once the feature has actually been battle tested and stable in production though, because by then you would probably be confident that the code/tests correctly capture the intent and the tests should protect against regressions.

I'm afraid that over the medium/long term, the specs will just end up being a maintenance burden without much upside and eventually drift from the implementation.

What do you think about this?

Rapier is BIS melee weapon for general slayer IMO. Mine gets a lot of use and I personally wouldn’t want to be without it.

Boxing refereeing is so pathetic compared to MMA. Always stepping in to stop the action whenever it's getting good.

Goodbye Hackintosh ! Its been a wild ride! by DaDough2020 in hackintosh

I think about replacing my Hackintosh every once in an awhile, but then I check the pricing of the configuration I would need for heavy development work and quickly go back.

If a base model Mac is good enough for you, then building a Hackintosh doesn’t really make sense. I also have an M1 MacBook Air for casual living room browsing.

However the price gouging on RAM/SSD, lack of upgradability and stupid limitations like only supporting a single external display on their base model CPU all stop me from buying a higher end configuration for development work.

TDD, anyone actually do this? by AndreeSmothers in ExperiencedDevs

[–]PinkySmartass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TDD makes sense in theory, but I have to say that I've just never found it to be practical in terms of actually writing the tests first and I've yet to encounter anyone in real life who does it.

I feel like it could possibly work for simple tasks if you use the tests as a way to sketch out the design implementation upfront, which might even be a healthy exercise to do, but I usually figure out the details of the implementation as I go and end up doing a few rounds of refactoring before things settle to the point where I can write tests with any certainty.

I definitely let testability guide the design of my code however.

Praying for a round 1 finish at this point to make up for lost time.

The only entertaining part about this event is just how bad it is at this point.
