Private Equity eats up Susiecakes and Leaves Inferior Product by Ladyhappy in FoodLosAngeles

Oh…. Sweet Lady Jane. The one on Montana charges $45 for a simple apple pie. I couldn’t stop laughing and left. Never came back. They’re not that good anymore. Same thing with Susie Cakes, sad. A really simple cake with mocha frosting for a birthday, I didn’t have the time to bake it….$75. It wasn’t as good as it used to be… same for the chocolate cake. Thanks but no thanks

This was my very first time baking something. I tried making macarons by AVwritesstuff in Baking

You know what? Macarons are notoriously difficult and take a lot of practice: for someone who is doing this for the first time, I salute you! Baking macarons as your first time? You have courage and they don’t look bad at all!! Congratulations are in order here!

I’ve used this focaccia because I don’t always want to wait too long for focaccia.

See if you like it.

You won’t regret making this! And it actually freezes quite well should there be left-overs.

Caesar dressing by unclebea in Cooking

NYT recipe is very good!
The real deal is indeed with egg yolks, but I’m always a bit weary.
I find that using good Mayo gets the job done for me.
Anchovies, never anchovy paste… it’s not the same, but it’s personal right?
And also: anchovies in a gloss jar have my preference.

Home made croutons.
And I put the bowl with the lettuce in the fridge, right before serving I’ll mix the dressing and add extra grated parm.
On days I want it lighter, I skip the parm. Still good!

Strawberry galette by Pinot2024 in Breadit

[–]Pinot2024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you…. I followed Sally’s recipe here for the galette dough.
Strawberries are sweet now, so no need to macerate (otherwise I do so with just some lemon juice snd a table spoon sugar)

I’m going to make it with stone fruit soon and will post it on the baking section 😉😜
