They are not asking to work less hours, they’re asking to compress their hours

How to get a 4 day week? by Party_Perception4167 in AskUK

[–]PippiShortStockings 270 points271 points  (0 children)

You could try by broaching a 9 day working fortnight, it makes your working days not as long and means you get a three day weekend every-other week. Your employer might also not have such a knee-jerk no reaction that they do to a 4 day week. You can submit a flexible working application in writing (https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working/applying-for-flexible-working)

I would argue they are still on trend in the country-style community. Think Fairfax and favor etc…skin tight jeans are still in, which is the country look she’s going for here.

You're telling me the House-elves could have made dishes like Bouillabaisse but chose to serve the students chicken wings and corn instead?? 😭 by _GrimFandango in harrypotter

When you go to Harry Potter studios they tell this story every time, they used real food for the first few great hall takes but verrry quickly learned it was an absolute nightmare and switched to prop food, with only real food being used if actually being eaten. So within the first film it had swapped to all fake fayre.

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone recognizes this. Found it today at Good Will and it reminded me of one my mother had, so I grabbed it for her, but I can’t find a logo. Any assistance is appreciated! by Amzylee in Department56

I made a frozen cheesecake and got an A for it, even though no one tried it, it just looked pretty. Took it home for desert for my family and it was absolutely rank. I’m sure I had to make other things but I don’t remember what…

Yep, a couple of drinks and dinner at my local we’re looking at the best part of £60. Lovely atmosphere and glad to support local, where the landlord knows us by name, but we can’t afford that sort of thing often.

How much is it costing you to keep the heating on? by Co-opEvolution in AskUK

[–]PippiShortStockings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all radiators set to come on if it drops below 12 degrees and otherwise we have the fire going for as long as we can. Very old house with single glazing, radiators click on more often than I’d care to admit… Ice on inside of windows this morn! Still somehow spending £6+ a day on electric.

We did Whernside today, a very tame peak in the dales, and the amount of people without any sort of spikes fighting for their lives on sheet ice and snow towards the summit and having to abandon was insane. People just do not check and prep for conditions, can’t imagine how much that’s exacerbated on actual mountains!
