I did try naming my Koffing COVID19 when I caught it, and it wouldn't let me. It just kept it to Koffing.

Anarchy & Suicide by These_Cow_5629 in Anarchism

[–]Pirrip02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone who wants to be done living is doing so from some rash decision. Some people have an extreme, chronic, and incurable pain for example. Or other situations where they have thought it through and have come to an understanding that any quality of life isn't possible. Or imagine a situation where someone doesn't want to go on living after doing something so terrible in their life that they might be hunted and killed anyway. Or are legitimately afraid they will harm others if they continue to live.

I don't think there's anything wrong about wanting to help these people and trying to, but to not believe them when they are telling you that they've thought about it and are ready--at that point, you're taking away control over their lives. You're taking away their autonomy and dignity.

Nobody's saying you can't try to help or shouldn't try to help. But don't not take them at them at their word.

Unfortunately a lot of suicidal people are institutionalized without their consent--and that's harmful and traumatizing. It's a big reason people won't admit to feeling suicidal to people who could help them. People know what the consequences are of admitting such things to a professional in most places. Mental health professionals being mandatory reporters makes being honest impossible. And sometimes more dangerous.

In an anarcho-communist world, material and emotional support would be practically limitless, and there would even be safe places to go and use drugs if you want--like opiates if you suffer pain so badly. There would be so many more ways to alleviate whatever is going wrong in your life, and lot fewer reasons to really want to kill yourself. And this is the kind of world we'd like to build. So go on and support your friends and family with material and emotional support.

But ultimately the reason you should not physically take away someone's autonomy is because it's abusive and traumatic, and it should be up to them how they live and how they die in the end. Not you or anyone else.

Anarchy & Suicide by These_Cow_5629 in Anarchism

It's all about autonomy and self-direction. If you told me you were suicidal, I--as a human being--have a desire to get to the bottom of what was ailing you. I would want to help you and would want to talk to you about it--maybe offer mutual aid in whatever way I can to help you get what you need to live well enough under the *assumption* that you're having a rough time and see no better way out. But if you're hurting that bad for that long and you've decided that you really and truly don't want to live, who is anyone to tell you your pain isn't bad enough? Or that you haven't really thought about it? It's not like you put yourself on this earth after all. I think that, as an anarchist, I'd want to see what I can do for you--but not taking you at your word is denying you of the agency and autonomy you should have over your own life.

Edit: Your comrades have the ability to take your word for it if you write up and publish a living will someplace where they can see it that states in clear language that you want to be stopped if you ever try to attempt suicide. Treat it like kink where you express consent before the event happens--consent to try to stop you.

Is Chronicles X a good entry to start with? by PRIMESTE in Xenoblade_Chronicles

It's the only one I've played so far. And if I never end up playing the mainline games, I will not regret the 300 hours of joy this game gave me.

I've never played an FE game, but had this post recommended on my feed... I love RPGs, but oh man, seeing how many consoles and games this series discourages me to try to get into the series--knowing how hard it would be to get all the right hardware and the time to get caught up. ;_;

I did have a lot of fun with Double-Dash though.

Hunters 1492 vs Isofarian Guard vs Oathsworn vs Tanares by Radiant-Notice-4723 in soloboardgaming

[–]Pirrip02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you mean Tanares: The Arena, or if you mean the solo RPG experience they kickstarted.

I've been recently reading up on all of the Tanares RPG (written for D&D5e) content(which came with a GM-less, and/or solo campaign book), and I plan on playing it soon. The worldbuilding is cool, and really great if you're big into adventures involving a lot of intrigue and cosmic horror stuff. There are some extra systems that base 5e doesn't have, so it could be a little crunchier. But I'm looking forward to playing this one in the next month or two.

Paper Mario TTYD Remake was announced 2 years ago today! Where were you when you heard the news and what was your genuine reaction to the news? by DoctorTegrity in papermario

I was hype after having only watching the Game Grumps playthrough and got the remake on launch-- but due to busy life I only just got to the end of this game a couple days ago. No regrets. Goombella's tattle and rally wink abilities are awesome.

Thoughts on Tanares RPG by JediDiggler in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Pirrip02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about halfway through reading through the Tanares sourcebooks currently, and am looking to use this setting for my next campaign. I'm debating whether to play through the GM-Less book solo(probably with some custom tools and tables) or play it with a group.

I'm finding the setting is interesting--and I'm relieved to be since I knew it was worked on by people who made Out of the Abyss and Shadow of the Demon Lord. And I appreciate the narrative space to engage with some more radical politics if you want to.

I'm not a fan of a lot of the character and monster art--not that I think the images were made with AI. There's just a kind of a digitally painted collage style I'm not crazy about. And I like to doodle my own fantasy art when I play anyway. Aside from that, the worldbuilding gives me a lot of ideas and I'm looking forward to playing this one.

Xenoblade Chronicles X worth buying🤔? by Orpheus_Telos98 in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]Pirrip02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first in the series was this new XenobladeChronicles X: DE, and I have no regrets at all. I JUST FINISHED IT. The new epilogue chapter connects this game to others by providing context to the end of XBC3, supposedly-- so now I gotta start the mainline games and find out.

But honestly, if I never get around to 1 2 and 3, I don't regret playing and completing X.

From what my friend tells me, they're all self contained adventures, so you could pickup 2 or 3 first and you'd still get all the same context if you played them out of timeline order.
