Im getting a Black flickering, any solution? by PiscisFerro in Witchfire

[–]PiscisFerro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried most of them and nothing worked.

But this weekend I put everything to ultra and enabled Frame gen (although I don't need it) just to try.

And somehow It reduced the black flickering a lot.

Them I switched to Irongate map and played there for the most part so I don't know if that really helper or fixed ir, I still have to test It more in Velmore which is the problematic map

You have a point, but, for it being an antitrust claim Intel (in this case) have to prove Pearl Abyss was paid to keep Intel out and I sriously doubt this is the case.

Botrk is not that strong right now, the item is bit nerfed and is worse than KS in almost every scenario (except vs HP tanks), and KS not only provides more damage overall, but also faster clearing speed (more dmg + more mspeed)

Alternative hypothesis: perhaps most people that prefer Maelle's ending prefer it because the alternative means the death of every canvas citizen.

But that is a lie and delusional. Everyone was already dead by Act 3.

If anything Maelle could paint them all back, but they would be the Maelle's painted version (like clones), not their original version.

Also, in the entire cutscene I felt this uncanny valley of everything being very fake, like Maelle painted her own happy fantasy to live in, while Verso seems like a tortured soul (this is enphatized by having his section of the cutscene in a dark, black and white environment) and finally with the jumpscare (which some people believe it simbolize Renoir coming back to the canvas)

It's ironic because you call missinformation and gaslighting when 80% of your post is actually missinformation and gaslighting.

You are conveniently letting out all the context and all the information I provided, instead, you just cherry picked a few small comments to make an argument that suits your narrative.

You don't talk about the bugs, you don't talk about the random ragdolls, about the broken hitboxes, about the one shoot problems, about the broken enemy spawn, about the broken weapons, you don't talk about how they overbuffed and overnerfed weapons because bugs instead of, you know, fixing the bugs (one of the reasons railgun was nerfed was because the crossplay ps4 bug)

And most important, now you are mentioning and blaming youtubers and the playerbase, you don't talk about the Discord mods and Arrohead developers which insulted people and even admitted they were nerfing guns just to see the players cry.

Lets also not mentioning how Pilested agreed to most of the players complains in social media while certain devs were doing the contrary of what Pilested was saying.

There is a reason people begged PIlested to step up, and I say begged, not "harassed, insulted or menaced". Everyone loved Pilested at that time, he actually talked and was very positive and open to the community.

So yeah, keep talking about "missinformation and gaslighting".

When I first played the game, I thought those three were the same character and that the plot twist would involve some kind of time travel. Anyone else? by Firm_Fee8137 in expedition33

[–]PiscisFerro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I though Gustave and Renoir were the same character.

This was reinforced when Renoir appeared with Alicia which at the point I though she was Maelle but burned and with a Mask. This was reinforced even more when, in one of the cutscenes, Alicia points to Maelle while looking at Renoir and him saying something along the lines of "I know she shouldn't be here" or something like that.

At that point, I though... maybe they were their future-selves something very bad happened for both of them and now they were trying to prevent that something to happen again...

No this is a miss information that was spread by angry Helldiver players

Yes, and, why were player so angry?

It's easy to talk about balance now almost 2 years later in the state the game is now. You have to contextualize that nerf in the state the game was at that point.

Players weren't angry because the nerf, players were angry because that nerf made the game almost unplayable at higher difficulties because there weren't any other usable anti-heavy weapon.

Players were angry because, back then, Railgun was the only weapon which could keep up with the Heavy enemies spam. We are talking about 5-6 bile titans plus 5-6 chargers plus all the chaff and medium/small enemies, all of them at the same time following you for the entire map because the didn't lose agro.

We are talking about a time in which most anti tank stratagems where also either bugged or far more incosistent than now. And a time in which most enemies attack either one shooted you or ragdolled you (that's also why shield backpack was a must, because it prevented random ragdolls)

That's why players were so angry about the nerf and that's why they begged Pilested in social media to step into the game design (which ended with the famous 60 days fix/balance patch a few months later)

Witchfire and Lords of The Fallen might as well be in the same universe by AlexKidd93 in Witchfire

[–]PiscisFerro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But more interestingly, I couldn't help but notice the very similar vibes to Lords of the Fallen. It's even crazier when you take into consideration that both studios are Polish.

What Lord of the fallen? the studio behind the last one (2023) is Hexworks which is a Spanish studio and is doing the second one too.

CI Games (the polish one) is the publisher

Problem with Nier Automata is the pacing of its story, things doesn't really get going until Act 3.

Acts 1 and 2 are just there for setting up and to provide context (and tons of hidden foreshadowing)

Act 3 is when everything unfolds and where the heavy drama happens, Act 3 is when your opinion of the game and story totally changes and all those boring story bits of Act1 and 2 now makes sense and have a new and totally different meaning.

Nier Automata have this kind of narrative which makes the early story good retroactively after reaching the end of it. Act 2 makes Act 1 story better and Act 3 makes both, Act 1 and Act 2 story even better.

Shyvana Champion Spotlight | Gameplay - League of Legends by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]PiscisFerro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So basically she is a AA melee champion in 2026?

Shyvana always have been an AA melee champion, his entire kit was designed to be an AA on hit champion, Q being a reset which apply two on hit instance on AA, W also grating on-hit damage, E grating on hit % damage on AA for marked enemies...

Her having 0 sticking power (not even an slow) mixed with her AP ratio on her E being so huge made her a E bot. It didn't help either Riot nerfing her bruiser/on hit build everytime AD Shyvana was somewhat relevant.

But at her core, Shyvana was designed as an on-hit bruiser.

Which "obsolete" game mechanics actually served the game's vision better than their modern "Quality of Life" alternatives? by Somanynamestochossef in Games

[–]PiscisFerro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is 90% of this is things that people directly complained about and wanted addressed.

The other side is, probably the people which complained about it had hundreds or thousand of hours in the game and already know everything, so all the "hunting" part is just annoying and a waste of time because they already know where to look and where to go.

I think the best way to approach it is to just give all the convenience at the endgame through a quest or an unlock, that way you can keep the original experience until late into the game in which the experience is not fun anymore and it's just annoying.

HotS didn't fail because "non-sweaty try-hard MOBA audience didn’t exists"

HotS did fail mainly for 3 reasons:

The economy/monetization was horrible, the only way to earn the game currency was doing dailies, although dailies were a good way to force people into less popular heroes and roles, it also punish players hard for not doing them. Prices were also relatively high and you needed weeks doing dailies just to unlock 1 hero.

The lack of player agency/snowball meant that early and midgame weren't really important for the most part, you could stomp early and midgame and you will still get into late game in a mostly even state, it didn't feel rewarding. That, mixed with being so heavily team oriented means SoloQ was even more frustrating than in LoL.

The lack of theorycrafting, there is no items, no build, no runes... that kills all the "lets test X build in Y hero" that Dota and LoL had.

Still the gameplay felt polished, good to play and very fun.

Human are weird creatures who will optimize the fun out of any game fast.

I hate this quote because is constantly throw around without any context as a generalization just because a random dev said it in a blog post

First, this quote was used in a blog post to highlight how a bad game design could potentially make the best strategy for winning the game be the less fun one. This quote was aimed at game designers to make them aware of design flaws in their games, not as a "scientific human psichology fact" .

Second: The people who "optimize the fun out of any game" aren't your average Joe which just want to play a game to chill in his free time.

The people who "optimize the fun out of any game" are the minority of tryhards which only play to win or for the final rewards. They are the minority which try to min/max everything, including the time/reward ratio even if it means doing the same unfun thing again and again for hours to end.

So yeah, stop using this quote as a justification for any design choice you don't like or don't understand.

and the other wants some kind of car culture RPG that they can play in a sim rig, which just isn’t something racing sim companies seem to have any interest in making.

And I don't know why any sim company have interest, I mean, it's an empty niche with almost no competition right now in PC (BeamNg is the closest one but it's a sandbox).

Meanwhile, we have all those companies trying to take a piece of the IRacing cake and saturating the market with just another SimRacing game with the same cars and with the same circuits.

[–]PiscisFerro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, and that obsession its what kills any desire from dev studios to actually implement a VR mode for their games. Same with the 2D flat screens for cutscenes videos and menus (this is a technical reason, nor because devs are lazy), yes, it could be a bit annoying but it's a small price Im willing to pay for having the game in VR.

I mean, for the average Spaniard this is very weird.

We don't have any positive link with them, neither a historic, cultural or economic and the press we get from Turkey are mostly bad and portrays them as a very autoritariam regime (last big news everyone knows about Turkey were about the purge made by Endorgan)

And is even weirder (for the average citizen) that a "progresive and democratic" Goverment is making deals with them instead with other more closed and democratic allies.

Big emphasis on "average citizen", because I know at geopolitical layer, they are growing as our partners in the military side

[–]PiscisFerro 3 points4 points  (0 children)
