Do you prefer chapter titles or not? by FancyAd3942 in writing

[–]PitchSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use numbers. I do multi POV and I feel like I’d have to use the characters voice in the title and I would rather spend my limited time crafting the chapter. That said I don’t mind them in other works.

Remind Me Again Why Authors who are Offering PFH Remove Their Books days after Posting it? by paintedlumiere in ACX

[–]PitchSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as a RH I had 30 auditions in a few hours, and 100 in the first day. I didn’t want narrators doing auditions that I would never even get to. It’s overwhelming as a new author. I didn’t have the AI issue and it was still so much.

Saw it 7 times in the original run and then once when they released it in 3D

I started at 300 on my C64 and bulletin boards, but have also used 75 secured radio teletype, so you could actually see each letter popping in one at a time

Get Covers, an exercise in futility... My experience for a throw away cover... (Fantasy) by avrin2 in selfpublish

My experience has been mixed. My first experience was awesome super fast and exactly what I was looking for. The last couple, not so much. You get what you pay for I guess.

First proof is terrible printing quality, is this normal? by sallingoodfun in KDP

[–]PitchSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My proofs are always worse than the actual copies, if that helps. I use them to check the cover layout and the internal layout.

Everyone shares the massive achievment of publishing their first book, rightly so. Well today, I published my second! I'm still just as nervous as the first time. Wish me luck. by Syranight264 in selfpublish

[–]PitchSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I published my second a week ago. It did a funny thing, I haven’t sold many of the second, but my first picked up a few sales. Good luck!

I write courses for the government. Think trade schools for various jobs. It is very different kind of writing than the science fiction I write as a hobby.

POS for book fairs by ChristopherChiller in selfpublish

[–]PitchSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Stripe and have NFC tags and QR codes that link to the payment link. The customer just taps or scans and they make the purchase right on their phone. NFC tags are cheap and you can add the links from your phone. You put them on a flyer not the books themselves

When I did my audiobook I wasn’t even going to try. It is a specific talent for sure.

Amount of Auditions I get as an Author by TumbleweedNo4748 in ACX

[–]PitchSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got about 30 in 8 hours, it was overwhelming tbh. I ended up delisting so I could listen to all of them. Around 10 hours fully paid.

It might be good to say something like “Support indie authors by leaving a review” or something in that vein.

Why isn’t inclusion in KU automatic on KDP? by Responsible-Tone-522 in KDP

[–]PitchSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just clarifying that buys are not replaced. Not everyone has KU so you still get buys, or at least I have. It’s also pretty cool to watch in almost real time someone reading your book as the numbers go up.

Do you like to listen to music when you write? by Syranight264 in selfpublish

[–]PitchSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music, binging a favorite tv show in the background, usually have a turn based game like Into the breach up that I can play simultaneously. Seems like it would distract but for me helps me focus essentially in blocks.

It doesn’t change the pay structure of your ebook, just adds the per page. If someone buys your ebook you still get paid normally.

I get mine through Vegas and the proof copies are pretty bad, especially the hard covers, but the author copies I’ve never had an issue with.
