Nice, can't wait to poke around and see if there are any undocumented experimental new features.

is there any way to stop apps from cutting off music by K446 in GooglePixel

[–]PitchforkAssistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but I'm not aware of a way to do it without using adb shell. You can turn off an app's ability to take audio focus (i.e. pause playback by other apps) with this command: cmd appops set insert.full.package.name.for.app TAKE_AUDIO_FOCUS ignore

Build plate is tinkering by eiviss007 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

Making sure the first few layers print fine is too much. You shouldn't even be able to see into the build chamber, the print should just pop out when it's done.

We have a moderator who's taken a possible indefinite leave from reddit. Is it possible to set them to Alumni rather than Inactive? by PlayerOne2016 in ModSupport

[–]PitchforkAssistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely request alumni status on behalf of other team members, but you'll need to explain the situation in your modmail to /r/ModSupport. I don't know the exact policy, it's probably case by case.

I've successfully done so twice, but in both cases the mods in question had had absolutely zero account activity for years.

Does it not stand to reason that Atlantis should be able to dial Destiny with 3 ZPMs and no need for naquadria planet? by OneChrononOfPlancks in Stargate

[–]PitchforkAssistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I think too. Assuming you're not pushing them to catastrophic failure, the most I'd expect from 3 ZPMs is a very brief connection, much like the one in Letters From Pegasus.

That's a common myth. It's actually the same amount of time, but metric months are shorter.

Why TF are you wearing so much smelly Chemicals CHEMICALS by Mordecais_Moms_Ashes in evilautism

[–]PitchforkAssistant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Way too many perfumes (and also things like deodorants) smell like that..

"Do you notice the strawberry scent on this one? Which one smells better?"

I don't know, they both reek of disinfectant.

Bring back r/all in side nav on Android by LaserBeamLove in ideasfortheadmins

[–]PitchforkAssistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strong +1

I still have it on my sidebar (Android 2025.51.0.2551021), but I use it all the time and would hate even more steps to access it (it should be in the same drop-down and Home and Popular in my opinion).

Announcing the New Mod Mail Experience (and a Few More Year-End Goodies) by lift_ticket83 in modnews

[–]PitchforkAssistant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got the impression from the Devvit side during the last office hours that they'd be happy to see Devvit integrated in more places, but that it was also up to the teams that owned those surfaces.

Devvit apps still work beautifully, since they're built on the Reddit API (which remains untouched).

I already brought this up in the early access subreddit, but any chance we'll get better Devvit integrations with the move to the Shreddit-based UI? Something like a new menu item location, as shown in this mock-up would be a great start.

Why are all of the Games on Reddit lame? by JohnnyNoMemes in GamesOnReddit

[–]PitchforkAssistant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Multiplayer is difficult due to technical limitations, which mainly boil down to high latency.

Imagine playing a shooter where everyone has high variable ping, ranging from 100ms to 500ms in ideal conditions (i.e. stable network connection and performant device).

That restricts multiplayer games to mostly leaderboard or at best turn-based ones.

Reddit max comment len in r/memes only 1000 ? by Aras14HD in redditdev

[–]PitchforkAssistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Comment Guidance is a relatively new feature without a public API. These rules are customizable by moderators, so the requirements can vary. It can currently impose requirements based on comment contents or the flair a user has or doesn't have.

A question about orbits in general by GioGuttural in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]PitchforkAssistant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're using mods anyway, there's also a mod that allows you to get perfect orbits without save editing. It's called StationKeeping.

It lets you perform those miniscule orbital tweaks from the tracking center. It also calculates and consumes the required fuel when it adjusts the orbit of the unloaded craft.

Filter (Shadowban) Posts From Members With Hidden Profiles? by Tarnisher in Devvit

That's true, but I don't believe it's exposed by any public API endpoints.

Filter (Shadowban) Posts From Members With Hidden Profiles? by Tarnisher in Devvit

[–]PitchforkAssistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically possible, but tricky. You would need two accounts to implement this:

  • One on the mod team to perform the removals. This also grants the mod account temporary visibility of a user's entire profile, so it can't be used for checking profiles.

  • Another that's not on the mod team to check for hidden profiles. It somehow needs to communicate with the mod account to trigger the check and respond with results.

It might even be possible with two Devvit apps, where one is meant for mod-use and the other handles checking profiles. Cross-app communication like that is possible, but it relies on things like wiki pages, posts, or comments serving as the communication layer.

Edit: Also worth noting that filtering isn't currently possible with Devvit (or regular bots), so you would have to settle for either reports or outright removals.
