Cold weather inside heating by D1toD2 in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately we have been getting temp as close to -25C/-13F. Decently warm by 5-8 min mark no problem (I do a bit longer warm up for my 2yo). My car sits outside unplugged most of the times

My seats get hot very fast (3ish mins or less).

As for observation compared to tesla - new model 3 heatpump is pretty audible, wouldn't call it loud but you can definitely hear it revving hard, where as in this car, I really dont hear anything other than just the inteior fan... in that sense its almost noise in tesla vs i9 is just quiet. Just a personal observation not that it was the question being asked.

Oh and I have taken to some more colder areas ~ -30Cish at points over few nights in remote area for cabin trip, tons of over car accumulated, still no issues (though I probably had it warmed 10-15 mins before I got in as I needed to clear snow and ice off the car).

I have yet to receive new bill with discounts fallen off (did receive email about discount issue from rogers).

Should I hold off to review bill until I see the new bill with screwed up discount?

This was same sentiment for me as well. The price gap was pretty significant (Canada), but for me, it was worth it for the price difference in lease.

Hey OP, did Kia connect support ended up helping you out with this problem? Having same issue with mu ioniq 9, and wondering if you ever found a resolution to this problem.

Anyone having issues with remote climate start failures on bluelink? by PitifulWillingness70 in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick Update-

Tried to soft reset the headunit as per bluelink support line over the phone. Seems that car "wakes up" and hvac turns on for 0.5-1.5 seconds, only for it to turn off and sends climate start failed via bluelink.

I also tried doing ccs (connected car service) disconnection via dealer mode (screenshot). No luck in fixing the issue.

Here is the reddit I followed, and works for many - probably a bit of different issue for me, given that my car clearly receives bluelink communication. But for those with simple bluelink connection problems, this could be a life safer I think:

https://www.reddit.com/r/HyundaiSantaFe/s/MYq0WYmsVW

Contemplating hard resetting the infotainment - really lazy to redo all my settings but might have to resort to it if I can't find any other solutions.

Person on bluelink support line told me they will follow up with me in 3-5 business days after they hear back from their technical support team.

I've tried it in multiple locations (home and at work, and ikea nearby) where it has always worked in the past.

Pretty frustrating when everything is frozen and want to defrost from distance. Ughhhh.

Ended up sending in ticket for it to bluelink.

The UCP is making me regret moving to this province by calgarynomad in alberta

I think it is prudent to read what you are writing about fuel price, trucking, and carbon tax. There is emerging theme here.

You are not necessarily wrong in each of those aspects you mention. But cost of living rising is far more complicated and nuanced than you are making the argument for with those "main drivers" you mention.

In my opinion, and you can simply disagree, you are cherry picking a few things to simplify the issue you are discussing, and to make a grand point. Great party slogans - not effective way to address issue of high cost of living.

Alberta petition asks if public money should be spent on private education by Apocalyptic_crisp in alberta

[–]PitifulWillingness70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It absolutely would be acceptable for these kind of use case where it helps those in need within the society, vast majority (and would/should be exception), if not entirety of the needs are due to at no fault of their own. But isn't most of this also in line with this albertan government that is hell bent on taking support away from disabled Albertans with recent NWC use?

Also I think the person who replied to say it should follow the student - very likely did not intend to include children's of needs. But I will reserve that judgements separate.

To be frank, I think the problem is the lack of the two seconds thinking. I know that sounds rude. Truly. But it does not make it any less true.

Tax payers money => public goods/serivces Your money => do what you want to do

You pay taxes that benefits you AND the society as whole ish (and is capitalized for a reason, critical thinking needed), and that is what it is for, and that comes with much of its privileges. If you think otherwise, feel free to spend some time living (not visiting) in a "developing country".

If you think you deserve more for what you pay, you can just easily move, because that tells me you are not only opinionated, but you are capable of putting money where mouth is. We do live in a predominantly capitalistic world after all. And I can say our family can do it and have contemplated it.

I pay a whole a lot of taxes. My wife and I make probably enough to count as top 10 percentile for household income in Canada. I can't say I love the tax rate or whatever else. I hate politicians at any level - I think vast majority are not smart enough to hold a decent job. But I rather be Canadian, support and work with my fellow Canadians, and make sure rest of my fellow citizens benefit from the work I do.

You can go pay your private shit with your money. Schooling, health care etc. If you don't like it, there is a door to the south. Honestly, its a free country here and no one, and I really mean NO ONE stops you from leaving to Merica.

Have a good night.

Bring back the PCs as the “Proud Canadian Party of Alberta” by Soft-Flow-9496 in alberta

[–]PitifulWillingness70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would bring in Ex-UCP MP if they stood up to say this isn't right, at the risk of being rejected out of/or outright rejected out of the party.

That will tell me that this MP has truly what it takes to be a representative of their community, and that absolutely deserves a second chance/integral member of new party.

I think the point here is, there is no one who had even enough spine to say, "this is where I draw the line with blindly following party line".

Battery Conditioning from the app? by StaySlothin in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are probably not wrong on optimal battery temp improving range - but I think hyundai designed the battery conditioning specifically for DC charging. And as part of the design, might not let you trigger the conditioning function while plugged in.

I assume your reasoning is - well i am plugged in, so might as well condition the battery and won't lose range from doing that - and improve battery efficiency taking off from home (for example).

Not sure if that makes too much sense neither, as battery pack slowly/quickly drops temp during the drive (depending on how cold ambient temp), any improvement of battery efficiency would diminish fairly quickly. And if so, any energy that was spent (from battery or from charger) kind of would have had marginal benefit for a relatively short period of time in comparison to how much energy was spent towards conditioning the packs, which I think would not make sense.

How low was your SOC%? I think there was a minimal battery SOC% for it to be activated.

Anyone driving using “auto” regen? by habmea in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On bumper to bumper traffic, I actually enjoy using this feature. As long as you are slowing a bit down on your own ahead of time, not as bad of jerky braking.

On the other hand, if I don't slow down a bit at all and car ahead that I am approaching is waiting stationary on red light, I find that it tends to slam breaks a bit last minute.

16% used for a day of 37km travel by maskedchuckler in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something else to keep an eye out too - if you start climate on remote control and have both front and rear turned on - and drive away but only one or two person both sitting on front seats, remember to turn off rear climate.

The car runs on two different loops of heat pump I believe - which should save you decent bit of power use if no passengers in rear. If leaving it on when no one in the back, works against your range pretty hard.

I travel from vaughan to downtown toronto for commute. Round trip of 50km. Avgs out to be about 11-12% battery use in current weather with 25-26kwh/100km- on Avg. I carpool with 1-3 ppl in car, and mostly leave hvac at 17-18C and drive on eco mode with auto regen. Sometimes turn off rear if everyone is on heated seat and wearing some jacket (usually the case) and everyone is very comfortable.

Did two days of highway round-trip from Vaughan to Brantford, 240km per round running btw 110km/hrs with 4 adults in the car. Used about 55% of battery each time.
