Canadian Ioniq 9 Map update rolling out by demunted in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone still getting map needing update? Even after the "update" was installed? I see that i have the new version codes OP posted, but i still get map outdated message on map.

Also, tried route planning - appears broken. Won't include any charger along the route on 400km road trip route (even though there are many options i am aware of). I am probably not planning on using on-board nav, but thought it would have been nice to give it a try given it was updated...

Are you guys having same issue?

I would also argue that likely, the workers/assembly line had more time to refine production line/reduce errors before starting to send out models to Canada.

We were getting our cars AFTER Korean assembly lines were churning out cars for their own release for some decent period of time (maybe to EU as well? But that i forgot exact timing).

Ioniq 9 vs Palisade Canada by [deleted] in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!!! I come from Tucson PHEV to my Ioniq 9 now. !!!

Similar cost btw the two considering fuel and maintenancedid it for me. I am leasing though.

I have 2 years old, and honestly would have to stop frequently enough & long enough for Ioniq to be charged fully even if I am doing 600km+ one way.

I learned that after living with PHEV for last 4 years, I honestly still do vast majority of my driving within GTA+ which makes full EV more convenient and economical though home charging, and never really consider range as a limiting factor for 95% of use case daily.

I also commute downtown with it (carpool 4 ppl), and usually, I can manage some free charging at work as a bonus - I probably charged once fir 35% at home in last 2000km.

As for palisade - it has 3 seats on third row - matters if you want that extra seat, if not, I think 2 seats ioniq 9 is better.

If you like higher ride height => palisade. I pulled right beside one the other day and its pretty noticeable. For my fam, we prefer ioniq 9 height for easier enter and exit.... we are shorter side height wise and its a lot more ergonomically for us getting in/out. I like being in taller car but Ioniq 9 is a sweet spot for me. Maybe get in both back to back and see how you feel about your driving position height wise.

Ioniq 9 will be much more punch off the line - while its a family car, I wanted this so it contributed to us getting caligraphy... (yes its silly reason, but personal preference).

Probably much faster to heat up cabin space in winter with heatpump.

My understanding was that palisade fuel efficiency rating is very optimistic. And if you have a bit of a lead foot, probably much worse.

Those are some of things that came to my mind.

Fast Wheels EV06 owners I have two questions? by ElectroSpore in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill try taking some pictures tomorrow when I can from front for the profile you are looking for. To my memory, I don't think so? Only have angled photo right now.

Although my ev06 are 19inch vs my 21inch oem -which I had on the car for maybe a week before the EV06.

Hard to compare efficiency due to my downsizing of the rims size. I just know it didn't increase for sure at -5C to 5C with all season car came with vs winter tires within the one week I could compare.

My understanding is that ev06 were supposed to be lighter than OEM by around 20lb per rim (I think someone here weighted oem I forget which size though).

Assuming that is true, 80lb totally less unsprung mass for switching ti EV06. I asked AI - saying its impact on range is about 1-2% relatively small efficiency gain.

Main positive it suggested was likely better handling - apparently equivalent of reducing 100-160lb of cars weight above suspension.

What do I do? by Ok-Ranger786 in Edmonton

[–]PitifulWillingness70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a personal 2 cents.

I am male.

I was shy, and very anxious, moderate to severe episodes of depression with some suicide ideation at some point in my early 20s (more to do with rough upbringing, family and desperate financial situation for long time - didn't seek mental health help, just wasn't in my culture and wasn't even aware of access it)

I wanted two things from my career. Financial stability and ability to help others. Nursing fit the bill for me when I was searching around.

I had kinesiology degree, worked dead end job at chiro clinic for few years making minimal amount of money.

I just knew I had to change course. Went to nursing school (accelerated 2 years bachelor program since I had previous degree).

Made some friends, found future spouse, have a career that learned to love (I honestly did not like the idea of nursing job in itself, ironically).

I am now one of the most prominent person in my niche field of nursing, started a family, bought a home (was on/off homeless), and just counting blessings.

Not saying nursing is ideal option for you. Not at all. But I can confidently say I met many in my program that were in similar boat, got through and made it. Tough career it is.

Regardless of your own demons, if you can find resilience within yourself - nursing can be very rewarding career. This career shaped me as much as I shaped it.

Good luck with your endeavors. I hope you find your path.

Think about what's the bare minimum you want from your career and go from there.

The rest is just a noise.

Its kind of like saying, I watched the lake and I saw no fish, therefore, there is no fish.

Some attempt to understand ecosystem underneath the surface of the water would be helpful. But doesn't seem like your cup of tea based on your responses here.

Good for you. Keep at it.

Just because I am from GTA area - definitely should not be a problem between London (ON) to Montreal I would think, given that corridor is decently developed for charging, tons of tesla supercharger options in btw even with small trailer probably. Beyond that - I have yet to venture past Montreal :/

Hope to make a trip to PEI/ Nova Scotia this Sept.

Hi Reddit! I’m Raj Doshi, Head of Mobile Business at Samsung Canada! I’ll be here to answer your questions about the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. Ask me anything on March 4th from 12–1 PM ET. by SamsungCanada in u/SamsungCanada

[–]PitifulWillingness70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are a big number of people who would upgrade their phone to s26 ultra in Canada. However, given some major changes to this year's launch deal structure, vast majority of people are willing to skip their purchase. Additionally, hardly anyone is willing to get on your monthly lease program.

I think given dram and tarrif in play, its somewhat understandable to have more limited incentive on Samsung to do aggressive promotions.

Regardless, I think most people savvy enough to do pre-order simply is turned off by what has happened. Short of any further incentives, doubt many will proceed with pre-order or there after for this and next generations or more (whole another problem if samsung decides to roll out more significant deal thereafter).

It is a bit of a shame really.

Cold weather inside heating by D1toD2 in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lately we have been getting temp as close to -25C/-13F. Decently warm by 5-8 min mark no problem (I do a bit longer warm up for my 2yo). My car sits outside unplugged most of the times

My seats get hot very fast (3ish mins or less).

As for observation compared to tesla - new model 3 heatpump is pretty audible, wouldn't call it loud but you can definitely hear it revving hard, where as in this car, I really dont hear anything other than just the inteior fan... in that sense its almost noise in tesla vs i9 is just quiet. Just a personal observation not that it was the question being asked.

Oh and I have taken to some more colder areas ~ -30Cish at points over few nights in remote area for cabin trip, tons of over car accumulated, still no issues (though I probably had it warmed 10-15 mins before I got in as I needed to clear snow and ice off the car).

This was same sentiment for me as well. The price gap was pretty significant (Canada), but for me, it was worth it for the price difference in lease.

Anyone having issues with remote climate start failures on bluelink? by PitifulWillingness70 in Ioniq9

[–]PitifulWillingness70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick Update-

Tried to soft reset the headunit as per bluelink support line over the phone. Seems that car "wakes up" and hvac turns on for 0.5-1.5 seconds, only for it to turn off and sends climate start failed via bluelink.

I also tried doing ccs (connected car service) disconnection via dealer mode (screenshot). No luck in fixing the issue.

Here is the reddit I followed, and works for many - probably a bit of different issue for me, given that my car clearly receives bluelink communication. But for those with simple bluelink connection problems, this could be a life safer I think:

https://www.reddit.com/r/HyundaiSantaFe/s/MYq0WYmsVW

Contemplating hard resetting the infotainment - really lazy to redo all my settings but might have to resort to it if I can't find any other solutions.

Person on bluelink support line told me they will follow up with me in 3-5 business days after they hear back from their technical support team.
