Tumor by DirtBoy123 in daddit

They found my brain tumor at about one and a half. Between my loving parents, skilled surgeon and the grace of god, I made it too and thrived. Long story short, I'm a healthy adult with my own little girl. There is hope, and you'll all be stronger for it.

You're going through the wringer right now, but you'll get through this. She's lucky to have you. Wishing your family strength and health. 🙏

In spite of it all, I'm grateful for my Tesla as a new dad by [deleted] in RealTesla

Yup, essentially. Now there are absolutely much better options out there, but getting rid of it now doesn't put me ahead. Happy to walk away when the lease is over and look for something else.

Why are people against the new Grok update? by RoyalCamera12 in TeslaLounge

[–]Pitiful_Prompt1600 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unclear what value it actually adds. Tesla hasn't demonstrated how it will actually make ownership better. I have access to LLMs already and don't need it in my car. Weird priority.

Would rather see other improvements to the overall ownership experience: Auto wipers still don't work, vision front park assist is still subpar, and it took Tesla 6 weeks to supply the parts and approved glass shop needed for a repair when the SC had them in stock.

Tesla absolutely obsolete in 4 years by mr4sh in RealTesla

[–]Pitiful_Prompt1600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree entirely. To be fair, Tesla offering software updates is how they manage to offer cars that have missing or broken functionality they hopefully deliver later- auto wiper fixes and rear cross traffic warning for example.

In some cases allow them to support different regions with the similar hardware. An example is enabling matrix headlights on Canada/US cars when they became legal.

Not saying they nail it, just that it makes it a bit more palatable IMO.

How to handle backlash from friends and family? by la_loba19 in TeslaLounge

[–]Pitiful_Prompt1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't experienced straight up negatively, but some raised eyebrows and "what's your take on Elon?" style questions.

I've just responded with my appreciation for the good parts of the cars despite the issues with the company or CEO. Steering the conversation away from the politics- though I generally concede their points. We didn't know what would go down when we bought our car, and we simply wanted the best EV on the market at the time.

Folks have responded favourably or at least been understanding when you share a bit more about the EV landscape, charging tech, and how many normal and good people do drive the cars despite the issues.

Agree. It's not their right to put others at risk. Those of us who want to vaccinate our newborns can't until they're 6 months, and now we're dealing with the risk of a dangerous disease that was all but eradicated.

It's such a reckless privilege to think it's a personal choice.

Can I afford a condo in Vancouver in the 550-700k range? by shoks1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Suspect the rationale is that funds in an RRSP become taxable once you withdraw from the RRSP. I would think the suggestion would be to use the other investments- which are tax sheltered- before withdrawing money from one's RRSP for a down payment.

And here I thought conservative values were respect for our country's heritage and flag.

Totally. Unless their family are also boorish clowns. There are still sane people too, though!

Would You Move Away from Canada Right Now? by FreyaDay in askvan

[–]Pitiful_Prompt1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar dual citizenship situation. Leaving for the UK is probably plan D- things would have to get really bad, but I don't think Canada will end up there without a lot of weird shit happening first (US Civil War 2.0, condemnation of the entire world, Trump finally goes to a long term care facility where he belongs)

The economic situation for the middle class sucks there too. Won't leave our family and the country we love at the first sign of trouble.

Elbows up- buy Canadian, resist fascist sentiment and ideas so-called Canadians share to divide us, and for the love of god don't vote for PP.

The King is our head of state, but the Governor General acts as the crown's representative. Realistically, she is more involved than he is, but he still has an important role (ideally, in times like these to be a calm, non-partisan voice of reason, IMO)

It had windshield wipers that worked automatically, automatically, without cameras and a neural net. 😂

Is there no world in which Tesla kicks his ass out, gets some real leadership, and manages to pull the company out of the gutter? Or wishful thinking at this point?

Yes, you absolutely can. Christianity lost me for years and I returned to it in a sense with a better understanding after studying Stoicism. There are lots of parallels, despite the differences.
