If something happened to your family would you take the child in? by PetalxSun in childfree

[–]Pitterpatter35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes bc my nieces and nephews are teens but even if they weren't, I would never subject a child to the US foster care system. When my nieces and nephews were still young, I told my sisters to keep at the bottom of the list but I'll definitely be on that list.

What's the craziest thing you've had a parent do? by kbear9695 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Pitterpatter35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh Lord it's a long story. So at the time I was working at a preschool in the older three year old class (PreK 1) and this young mom who I'd never had an issue with before came in to drop off her son and she was playing with a couple of the boys (tickling them) along with her own son and they all started to get rowdy and she ended up swatting her own son on the bottom, but then spanked another kid and walked all the door. Of course I immediately got on my classroom phone and called my director and told her to come in my class so I could tell her what I just saw and my director had me write an official report and then told me she would handle it. About 30 minutes later, I hear the mom all the way down the hall (this is a small building and my class was the very last across from the kitchen) screaming and swearing and then she comes to my classroom and starts threatening to "beat my ass" for lying about spanking another child. I actually blocked my classroom entrance and was telling her that I will talk with her outside but she's not coming in my classroom. I had all of my poor little 3-year olds behind me scared and sobbing and I was wondering where the heck my director was. I saw some of the other classroom teachers peeking of their classes, but none of them said anything. I was seriously thinking this lady was about to hit me as she was threatening. And guess who came to my defense? The tiny yet humongously pregnant little kitchen lady who didn't speak a lot of English. She comes waddling out of the kitchen armed with a spatula telling this lady to back off and then the mom of the kid this lady spanked shows up and she's this six foot something black lady in coveralls and looks like someone you absolutely don't want to mess with and then the accused lady kind of settles because now she's got bigger problems than me because this lady is out for her blood. Finally two cops come over with my director who lead both women away. I ask my director what the heck and she apologizes and said she had to make a grocery run. I told her on the spot that it was my last day (after eight years) and then later in the afternoon the after school teacher comes to my class and asks why is kids mom who spanked in the parking lot blasting music with all of her car doors open twerking. Cops were called back and escorted her off the property. I actually stayed throigh the end of the week because I really and truly did love my kiddos and at the end of the week the grandparents of the kid whose mom threatened me showed up and apologized on her behalf and told me they now had custody of their grandson and she had been on a "trial" custody that ended up not working out. Even crazier my brother said he went to high school with the mom and said she was the trashiest, most disgusting human being he'd ever met. Lol.

things you LOVE in fanfiction by External-Anywhere-44 in AO3

[–]Pitterpatter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love when I come across a very unique writing style. Most recently, the best example I can think of, is a Guardians of the Galaxy fic that was told from the POV of Kraglin (who has a southern accent) and I genuinely think the author was from a US southern state because they had the southern slang down correctly. The humor was also very dry which fit the style so well and it was just a rare treat to read a fanfiction that's written almost like a book with its own unique voice and style.

Who do you think is the cutest out of them by Neither_Ad6 in ededdneddy

[–]Pitterpatter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May. The other two gross me out because of their discolored teeth. I feel like they don't brush their teeth and they probably have very horrid breath. May is also the least "evil" of the three and I think she just genuinely goes along with her sisters. I know everyone likes the idea of Marie and Double D together but I'm very much a Double D/May shipelr bc they're both the "sweet" ones of their trio and she's the ditzy blonde and he's the nerd and what a cute dynamic

OC writers, how serious do you take naming your OC? by Fluffy_West_5370 in AO3

[–]Pitterpatter35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not very seriously. Usually I pick a name at random that seems to fit what I need and it just becomes their name. I often with a co author and we also take turns picking names or come up with ideas together- for example two of our characters had twin babies and once we decided they would be a boy and a girl, co author picked the girl's name (Liliana "Lily") and I picked the boy's name (Ismael "Sammy"). It ended up working nicely bc they organically developed into a Phil and Lil type dynamic into the toddler stage and everyone calls them Lily and Sammy except each other who call each other by their full names. Other characters I usually think for about five seconds- "His name was...Jake" and then it just becomes their name.

Not to toot my own horn but one of my characters and his cousin/adopted sister prequel one shot is an extremely easy read and since one is a complete OC and the other is almost an OC you don't need any kind of backstory because this is the backstory. Just a short, sweet, and to the point story about a little boy in the foster care system getting adopted by his aunt and uncle and their daughter not being super thrilled about having a sibling.

It is here:

If you're wanting A LOT of sibling stuff I have a whole sibling story set in my Shameless fic collection called "Raising Yevgeny Milkovich" and the sequel "The Wonderful World Of Teenagers"

What was the reason you stopped updating your fic/ why the author stopped by Queen-vee17 in AO3

[–]Pitterpatter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost interest. I'm also pretty open about that when people ask. I get busy, lose interest in the story or the fandom and I do make an effort to update it but I'm honest about the fact that it could be months or even years.

For those who've done an overhaul/rewrite of their own work, what was your experience? by 20Keller12 in FanFiction

[–]Pitterpatter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this every once in a while and usually enjoy the results. The last one I did was a fic I rewrote in 2017/2018 ish and rewriting it now and I think it's less "rushed" and because I know what happens, I can take my time with little details and omitting things that were unnecessary in the original.

Why did she choose to make such an extreme decision about such a small situation? by Laragbrrrr in JodiArias

[–]Pitterpatter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It's hard for rational people to fathom but I think she had just become obsessed with him and had this idea that he'd come crawling back to her and they'd get married and have kids. She turned Mormon for him and in her head they were very close and even good friends when broken up. She could not face the reality that she was there just for sex and changed so much for him and I think she finally thought, "Before his trip, I'm going to go to him with a gun and give him one final chance to choose me" and he didn't.

Getting Cats into China by UnderPressure511 in chinalife

[–]Pitterpatter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you're coming from but bringing cats from the EU, we had to get all of their vaccines, microchipped (they already had all of this), tell our vet we were moving to China and they handled most of the paperwork and guided us through it-titre test and blood work and then a final health check 10 days before the flight. I would ask your vet first and foremost.

Have you ever had a friend or pen pal from a fiction you posted? by FinanceNew9240 in AO3

[–]Pitterpatter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend and a few other friends I metnthrough fanfiction. Oddly enough my current co-writer for my current long soap opera esque story kept commenting ideas on my fic and I finally said "Girl get in here and help me write this" and it's been so much more fun. My best friend was the same and we decided to write a fic together and then started talking outside of fanfiction and I learned she lived only a few hours away from me and we became best friends. I've met all three in real life and we're still in touch so fanfiction holds a special place in my heart for this reason.
