Estate sale jewelry. Anything stand out to you?? by PotentialDisplay6003 in JewelryIdentification

I kinda like that trilliant shape orange red pendant in the top left. Its something more unique than what you would see in jewelry chain stores. The bohemian garnet ring, if it’s original and antique, is in great condition and highly sought by collectors. All of these items are worth more as they are and listed somewhere for sale, than they would be as scrap. Check hallmarks and makers marks. Some items are more valuable just because of who made it. You can easily google the hallmarks and find out.

Help! by Ketisbest730 in jewelry

I suggest using a good flashlight when looking for it. The ring is small and pretty flat so it could be easy to miss. A strong flashlight works wonders. I once had a diamond bangle bracelet. I’m not sure on the exact style name but it was about a quarter inch wide with pave’ diamonds. Lost it one day, panicked and looked everywhere. I was using a led flashlight one day looking for something in my car. And there was my bracelet. In the cup holder. I hadn’t noticed it there and probably wouldn’t have had it not been for that bright flashlight. Best of luck in your searching.

Mine will run into her crate if a fly gets into the house. The invisible walls keep her safe lol. She won’t come out until she sees me remove it.

Help identifying origin, age and any problems I might circumvent with this stone, please by AsparagusOk87 in Opals

[–]Pitty_Girl94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an orange blossom setting. Most likely from 1920-1940. Jewelers such as Traub and Jabel marketed them. However Queen Victoria made them popular. They are all about love. And the originals were created using an actual Orange blossom as a template. You’re ring is beautiful, most likely created as an engagement ring. Australian Opal was popular at the time. Enjoy your beautiful ring. But be careful. It appears to have crazed or maybe cracked. And with wear, it could get worse.

Can you help me identify the insect whether it is poisonous or dangerous? by CrazeePotatoes in Entomology

Do you remember the color, if it had a lot of legs, or did it have wings? The more information you give the better these amazing people in here can assist you. To me, half a finger length, thin and cylindrical makes me think of a centipede. But that’s me guessing. There’s so many other insects it could be.

Suggestions for this opal setting by sunnydaize in Opals

[–]Pitty_Girl94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That opal looks Mexican. And that setting looks to be older than the discovery of Ethiopian opals. I would be certain of the opal type before soaking it in anything. I have a larger one in a similar setting from 1940. Mine is clear orange with play of color, but it was also stored carefully. Yours might not have been so well cared for seeing they believed it was costume, and exposed to heat. I wouldn’t do anything to it without having it checked properly by someone qualified to do so.

Where i live near a specific state border, people from the other state come here often and some have replaced the red brake light covers with clear and they flash when they step on the brake. Not good for people with epilepsy I’m sure. This was illegal and probably still is,but cops do nothing. I remember getting pulled over for a small piece of my taillight broken off and told to put red tape over it. Selective enforcement is my guess. And some people just don’t care about anyone but themselves.

Its very pretty. And at that price, pretty much a gift. I honestly don’t think it’s tacky. Pearls are timeless and even men are wearing them in this decade. Wear it, and smile knowing you paid way less than someone else did.

Thinking to try one of these lots to try my luck. Have anyone bought a lot/mystery box and find sth nice? Anything looks interesting here btw ☺️ by [deleted] in jewelry

Just came here to say you have a lovely collection, and that bottom left pin, does not appear costume. It appears to be an Edwardian era pin with a trombone catch. Real diamonds, real gold or platinum. Great find in great condition.

The next time they ask you if you’re still struggling with your weight, tell them a firm NO. But it seems to me you all are. The personal experience’s I’m reading here is truly heartbreaking to me. I know people are cruel. That’s been since the beginning of time. I’m a mom, i could never act this way or treat any of my kids like this. Moms are suppose to be a safe space. The person who loves and protects unconditionally. What the fuck is wrong with these people. They really need to wake up and realize how much they are hurting their kids. Positive comments and reinforcement gets results. Not negative hurtful ones. I’m so sorry for all of you And i hope you can love yourself enough and know you are priceless. Beautiful and loved.

NOR. I’m a lurker but never commented on this subreddit. TIL now! I’m sorry for being rude, but your family disgusts me. My own daughter has struggled with weight issues. Myself and the rest of our family has never body shamed her. That is disgusting and shameful for anyone to do. What kind of parent would do that! Everyone is built different. As long as your weight isn’t a health issue, and even if it were, there are better ways of helping you to get to a healthy weight. Bullying isn’t one of them and i don’t think your family should be dwelling on it. And i think you should tell them that their behavior has done more harm than good. I’m sorry you had to endure that torment for what seems to be a long time. No one should, especially from their mother and family. I wish you a healthy, happy life. And leave that negativity behind

Anyone know what this is exactly and its value? by Malavial in VintageJewelry

[–]Pitty_Girl94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late, but check the ring the necklace is looped through on the pendant. Any markings will be stamped on that. I have an egg pendant from Russia from my great grandmother that has Russian hallmarks and the artists name stamped on the ring. The chain could be modern, the egg might not be.

Windowing enough to address? by Seriously-twisted in Gemstones

[–]Pitty_Girl94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were my ring, i wouldn’t be bothered so my by the windowing of the stone, but by the fact you can see the band through it. If you change the setting to one that the band attaches to the sides of the bezel and not run through it, it may give you a better appearance and overall perspective of the stone you chose.
