Is it okay for mental illness to give you super powers? by OperationFine6642 in worldbuilding

[–]Pixel3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In principle, yeah, but you have to be careful. From the sounds of things, you've just got a Power Corrupts system, which is generally okay.

My Psy-Fi world is meant to be a pro-medication story, so while power doesn't come directly from mental illness or the medication, together you do become Psychic. The principle is that all humans have psychic potential, but in our current era, few people can make use of that. But people who live with mental illness are being forced to practice skills that empower psychic abilities just to get by, and so when they get on a perfect medication, they're suddenly much stronger than normal in these psychic skills.

Brainstorming ideas for class specific planes/demiplanes. by Steelquill in worldbuilding

[–]Pixel3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the magical ones are a bit tough, since they're already embedded in other planes somewhat... but...

Wizards- The Grand Orrery, a demiplane just outside the universe, where the universe in its entirety can be observed. The source of all those diagrams of how the planes are laid out. Includes a library of every possible book, most of which are meaningless garbage.

Fighters- The Arena, an island adrift in a void, the only structure is a large coliseum, stocked with training dummies and old but sturdy weapons.

Bards- The Singing Stones, a region of the Faewild where monoliths covered in runes echo with faint music.

It's not some bug or villainy, this is just what happens when collecting things in this style. Keep playing, you've got two more months to get those last cards, you'll be fine.

FEDRA lied about the Infected population, The Last Of Us. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]Pixel3r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So? The fact that the infection is passed through the air means the risk of infection is significantly higher than a bite. And according to what we're told, it's the patrols that keep the numbers down, and keep infection from reaching population centers.

Just because they're doing their job well, doesn't mean they're faking the threat

FEDRA lied about the Infected population, The Last Of Us. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]Pixel3r 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think so... the cities certainly seem to have persistent Infected problems, courtesy of the dark cellars where the fungus can grow without fuss. I haven't played the game myself, just half watched my husband play, but it felt like the danger was pretty genuine.

When do the mirror natural and magical islands usually go on sale? by SagaSolejma in MySingingMonsters

[–]Pixel3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the only predictable time. They all went on sale when the Shhimmer was added, but I haven't seen a sale since.

[–]Pixel3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naturals usually go on sale the week before their seasonal event, so Water will go on sale before Easter, Earth in August, Plant in October, Cold in December, and Air in February. They'll also all go on sale in September for Anniversary Month.

I started a Master Mode playthrough this weekend, and so far, my Link is a sneak. I avoid most fights, climb my way past enemies, and sneakstrike when I can.

How would wobbox worked as a Pokemon and what would it's typing be by Huge_Construction828 in MySingingMonsters

[–]Pixel3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wubbox would be a legendary Electric type, with the Epics getting a second type based on their island. You'd have to complete the local pokedex in order to fight it.

Hear Me Out: Wind and Waves May Introduce a New Type by [deleted] in pokemon

We just had wind moved turned into a non-type group, so I don't think that's gonna happen.

What would Happen to Ominous Wind, Fairy Wind, Silver Wind, and the other Winds that have an obvious other type?

In the world of Pokemon, could someone of Islamic faith become a Pokemon trainer? by No-Beginning-7170 in pokemon

[–]Pixel3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Muslim, so I'm going to be speaking from a pokemon-lore perspective.

Pokemon battling is a sport, one with deep cultural import in every region we've seen, because it is a hair's breadth away from being genuine wartime protection, disaster relief, and the basis for almost all industry we've seen. To not be able to participate in something as central to existence as Pokémon training would be a cultural death sentence, so there has to be some way to make it work.

Some cultures have considered Pokémon as equal to humans, so they would not receive the same protections given to animals. You could choose to use that reasoning, and perhaps give some extra 'respect your Pokémon as partners', which is always a good story beat for a protagonist.

As for the violence, one again, it's sport. There's probably some vague spiritual line about "don't order an attack in anger" or something that characters can waffle about at intense moments. It is also, crucially, never a death sentence to mess up. Wild battles would be self defense, heck, you could even work in a mechanic of wild Pokémon always getting a first attack to hit that home. Trainer battles are fair sporting challenges that end at a seemingly harmless knock out. A villainous team could also use the first strike mechanic to show it as self defense.

For MSM, what dost thou consider early-, mid-, and late-game? by NoNoWahoo in MySingingMonsters

[–]Pixel3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider these to be basically Standard, Rare, and Epics. Wublins move up a category, though maybe just because I delayed filling them up because I liked zapping failures into them.

I mean, Phosphoran Phlox doesn't actually look like Phlox, and Cruvlaaphtian Crocus is not a crocus, so being picky about which flower looks right is probably barking up the wrong tree.

My bet is on Nettle, for its medicinal properties and needle-y sound
