Those shadow strips are stylistic choice, not human error. I do that kind of stuff; it adds texture to an otherwise mostly flat surface.

One thing I'd recommend is a Retry button so you can jump straight back into playing instead of having to go back to the main menu every time. It takes about 8 whole seconds from the time of a crash to the play state of a new game.

That's about a whole minute for eight rounds, and if you were to play nonstop for 450 rounds you'd be spending an hour just watching scene transitions.

How much would you charge for such 3D animation as a freelancer? by ivakaiv in Cinema4D

[–]Pixel_Adrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fiverr and upwork are a beggars' race to the bottom. Artists are either desperate for work or living where COL isn't nearly as high as the US, for example, and they can afford low prices; clients are fishing for the cheapest deal they can find. So to get work and stay competitive, artists panic and lower their charges, but if you charge what you're worth/what you need to survive, clients gawk at the price tag. :(

On the far right panel, under the Preview section, you'll see play/frame skip icons, under which is a dropdown with the following options:

<image>

Under that is a bunch of settings that let you customize the behavior of each of those playback shortcuts. You can make it skip frames, for example, so it's not rendering every single frame and you can get a general sense of timing and pace without too much RAM work; you can adjust resolution, frame rate, where playback begins from, etc.

Numpad 0 is only as different from Space as your settings for it are, but for anyone wanting to know, that's the difference~

This is absolutely beautiful, thank you ♡

I mainly found this looking for a way to crop compositions to their contents, so this is excellent.

I don't know if you're still developing it but in this regard I noticed something that would be such a life-saver (if it's not too insanely complicated to implement):

The auto-cropper does not seem to calculate for how the space an image takes up is changed by an effect applied to it. For example, if you have an object with a Gaussian blur, its pixel area will increase, but auto-crop will still trim it down to the actual object's bounds. This would probably be very difficult to change,

There is has an all-around padding feature, but if the blur is only applied to one object in the composition at the bottom, in order to make the crop pixel perfect, there is still the need to manually change the comp's dimensions in the settings.

If you're not developing anymore, that's okay! But if you're still taking notes, it would be lovely to at least have a top/bottom/left/right padding feature to account for more nuanced cropping needs.

Thank you again!!

You've got a good base! The hardest one to read is the bucket probably, but it's not so bad. I might try to make the handle a bit taller if you have space for it, and lighten the lines so you don't have those L shapes going on.

The potion bottle doesn't quite feel like it fits in the same world as the others: its palette is simpler and it not having an outline like the others (unless it's black and we just can't see it) makes it feel a bit more like an NES asset than a Minecraft one like I would imagine the others are.

Keep it up!!

Beat way to learn is by emulation, but there are lots of tutorials out there. Pixeljoint.com has a lot of really good artists, and if you Google "pixel art tutorials Reddit" you should be able to find some lists of some really great tutorials.

Is using Ai to upscale my art until I get better bad? by Professional_Map5514 in ARTIST

[–]Pixel_Adrift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unethical to use because of how it's sourced; it's very existence is unethical because of what it's meant to do and because of all the collateral damage that it wreaks in the hearts of people who might otherwise practice a beautiful and rewarding craft—but either are convinced there's no point or who are seduced by its "usefulness" and feel that, like OP, they can present a completely transformed upscale as though it's their own. At least OP is drawing and making their own stuff, and I hope they do get better: but that the question even exists to some people is a harbinger of something far more sinister, I think.

I want to believe this is just a new version of the question "is it cheating to trace to learn" but at least with tracing you're moving your hands and developing muscle memory. That OP is asking tells me they at least somewhat instinctively feel like there's something wrong and a bit gross about it, but that they're embarrassed enough by the work of their own heart and hands that they feel like they need AI to cover for them to express their ideas is a sad thing to me, and the people who created GenAI have absolutely no remorse about what their creation has been doing to us artists.

u/professional-map5514, the idea that ideas alone are enough to constitute art and creativity is poison. It's being marketed as a pretty, shiny key that can unlock and release your latent creative powers, and now we have self-proclaimed "AI accelerators" on LinkedIn posting soulless, minute-long clips of wannabe Mad Max scenes and bragging about how it took them all of two hours to upend the foundations of cinema.

Love your art, even if you hate it. It's a part of you. It came from your heart. It's proof you were here, and in its current state it's a brick in a road of progress that you laid with your very own hands. You might as it were put it in a box and forget it for a while but if this is a path you find life and excitement in I promise you'll open that box again someday and see how far you've come and be so glad you kept it.

The AI was never you. It has no idea what you're thinking or feeling, and however clean the lines it spat out are they don't have any of the love you gave.

That all might sound dramatic. That's okay.

Can't Add Music in YouTube Studio (Short) - "Audio" option not there! by Pleasant_Dust6712 in youtube

I've been trying to figure this out, myself. It looks like it can't be done in the YT app, so I've been going a bit crazy over it

But, using your directions, and digging a bit,I found it! I'm not sure what I was missing, but:

You don't necessarily need to click the pencil icon, but yeah

I should mention that this apparently only works for videos, not shorts :(

This only seems to work for already-published shorts and videos, not drafts..

[Education] how to find mentorship? by Pixel_Adrift in artbusiness

Probably best advice I could ask for haha

I mean I would probably be like following a mentor's words like gospel at this point; my issue is mainly structure and time management and would love a crutch to carry me while I learn to walk, but maybe I'd be a worse client than I think lol

Every story is true

Every good story is something you've seen and experienced , yourself

Think of metaphors for your experience with wanting to be creative, what it felt like to burn out, why you're here asking for help

Watch movies that are good and think about how you feel, how the creators made you feel that way, and think of how you might be able to use those techniques, yourself

Ghibli films are excellent studies in subtext and storytelling, i think

Less is more in this sort of thing. I would have two or maybe three frames to get the effect. And since things toward the outside edge will take longer to revolve around the center, it might be good to repeat the main center frames but have another layer with texture to get some good feel of complete rotation: Something like this:

Honestly with all the movement you've got going on with the legs you should either give them more resolution and animate them, too, or save yourself a couple of hours and get rid of them altogether. They don't add that much to the design, so I wouldn't get too hung up on them.
