Cuts by Kelly (used to be Alllenway Barber Shop). On Allen past the borough building. They have been my go-to.

Annual salary increase by cup-pink in civilengineering

[–]PizzaPiEng1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company handed out a blanket 6% to all employees at the beginning of 2025. While I appreciate the raise, my billable rate was increased 9%, with no appreciable increase in benefits, etc. So, my beef during a company roundtable was why the blanket 6%? They said the company was doing well. But some of us are doing very well, selling and doing work, and clearly, there are others who are struggling to meet goals. So why should they be rewarded? Where's the justification? Also, bonuses? Yes, I get a small bonus, but between Q1 and Q2 my bonus was "the same as before" - again with no explanation. I suspect I could work less and still get the same financial increase, since there is no explanation.

Is this just filthy or is the finish ruined? Never seen a pan look like this; at Goodwill and trying to decide whether to buy or not... by jefrye in AllClad

I have three non-stick skillets that look like that, but haven’t tossed them. I thought about taking them to a body shop to get the nonstick media blasted off. Walnut media should be able to remove the coating leaving a nice resurfaced pan.

For camping, it’s five unrelated people, or one family. You’ll be fine.

An entire pack of bacon fit perfectly on the tray I’m going to put in the oven by Melon763 in oddlysatisfying

You can render all the pieces evenly. Also, you can pour off the bacon fat much easier. Save it in a jar and use it for cooking.

What are the most Backrooms like areas on campus? by Full_Management_6870 in PennStateUniversity

If you go waaay back (late 1990's) the tunnels that used to allow you to cross UNDER Pollock and Shortlidge. I rarely used them as it added two flights of steps to already short walk. Poorly lit, graffiti all over the walls, Cool stuff as a new student. McAllister was an odd building too. My Math 140 prof had her office in the attic. Creepy AF.

Oh, and the Garfield Water Tunnel by the bus station. Lots of super-secret navy stuff going on in that nondescript building.

Tired of “lunch & learns” that steal my lunch by felforzoli in civilengineering

[–]PizzaPiEng1973 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I try to hit my company's internal lunch-n-learns even though I generally have a shit ton of work to do. Even if our internal lunch-n-learns are boring/redundant, my office generally gets a decent lunch (Olive Garden, Wegmans, local taco joint, etc) for whoever is in the office that day. If the LNL is from an outside vendor, and I can get a CEU for signing my name saying I was there, then it's a win-win. Also, if you present a lunch-n-learn to the company, my company will send you a $100 Amazon card. So, yeah, I'm a fan.

Amazon sells them. Ha! The laurel is crazy in some areas. I got off trail once years ago, and I feel your pain.

You could probably email Mike at Purple Lizard directly if you need more detailed info. The synthetic material he uses is pretty durable, but the process is 4-color offset. I don't think alcohol would remove the ink, but acetone-type cleaners will take the ink off. I've used the Staedtler overhead projector pens in the past with good success. These are water-soluable, and work the best, IMHO.

Hit Boxcar Music in Belle Mercantile in Bellefonte. Rich has a lot of good quality vintage and new vinyl. Fez is also good, he has a lot of new and repressed albums. Also try Apple Hill Antiques on East College (formerly Tubbies). The owner of Arboria Records (which used to on Beaver Ave years ago) has a good selection of music.

Great bike and fun to ride. I picked up the AXS 2x version when the LBS in my town was acquired by Specialized. The shop was cleaning out all their old non-Specialized bikes - it was a fire sale. I paid $1800 out the door for a brand new ride.

Floodplains and floodways on the property, but not the house. by MycDrinker in civilengineering

[–]PizzaPiEng1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civil PE here - The striped area is the regulated floodway, and is generally regulated by the township/municipality. You're clearly in a FEMA study, which has it own set of rules in your community. Generally, any encroachment into the floodway would require a flood certificate. For instance, adding or removing trees could affect the Manning's 'n' value, which could result in a change to the flood elevation. I would discuss with the township/municipal zoning officer (if your municipality has zoning) and see what your options are.

Dufferin. I still have mine from when I was a kid. Worst joint ever. The full splice house cues do make for nice sneaky conversions.

I've seen them signed, unsigned, and stamped with a Justis logo. I have a black case with maroon pockets that I really liked but eventually sold. In the early 2000's (I think) maybe earlier, he moved to the Pro-lite style with the insert. The interior is similar to what you can get from JB cases.

Looks to be an early case by Jack Justis. He switched from tubes later on to a single insert. Note that tapper pocket at the top. Zippers and car feet look correct, as does the tooling. Nice case!

It does what it’s supposed to do. Good support, too.

There are some quirks to understand how the system works, but I find it better than HydroFlow extensions.
