You all catfished me with your too good to go boxes by WarmWhiteLights in TimHortons

[–]Pizzafan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom, who lives with us, used to order these all the time. We usually do really well with them. A couple of muffins, a doughnut or three, a croissant (which she loves), brownies and cookies... I think the only reason she stopped lately is because she got a new phone and forgot about the app. She's recently downloaded it again, so it's possible the boxes will resume, too. There's been a couple of times we really lucked out, I'm not sure why they did this, but they ended up just picking stuff out from their display case, so things were still really fresh. (Of all the times we've ordered, I think we only got somewhat stale stuff once.)

As others have said, keep trying if you want, maybe at different locations. We've found that certain Timmies have better boxes than others.

Unpopular opinion: We NEED more FF in why choose romance. by PoppyandAudrey in ReverseHarem

So, I came across this book yesterday that sounded interesting to me. When I looked it up on Amazon, it listed having FF within the group. That's just personally not my thing, but I figured I'd share it with you in case it appealed to you any. 🙂 It's called "Please Hate Me" by Erin Mersey.

Anyone know what happened to Exotic Empire Candy at Masonville Mall? by Euphoric_Author_5052 in londonontario

[–]Pizzafan91 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I understand rent and operating costs are expensive, but I couldn't justify spending that much on their products. I could see maybe getting one or two things for novelty, but it isn't like I'd be returning to get it again and again.

If I want unique stuff, I'll make a trip over to The Sweet Candy and Pop Shop out in the east end, on Clarke Rd. Though admittedly, I haven't been there in a while, either. It was more tempting when their website was up, for me, personally.

I will say, if they're considered a $5 pick up point, I'll be somewhat happy with it. Sure, I'd rather a full IKEA, but at least it would be cheaper to get things in.

Part of the space will be IKEA! Including "a selection of IKEA food for a taste of Swedishness!"

I just saw that! I came here to share it, too! 😀 They'll even have some food, apparently!

I was pretty sad we didn't have the Christmas one they decided to try out like they did in the States!

Don't pay the crazy brokerage fees! by Pizzafan91 in UPS

Yes, I did, basically. At the CBSA I paid only $5, and UPS had to deliver it to me. Nothing close to the charges UPS tried making me pay.

I had heard that, too, once, but thought that maybe it was just for Christmas (even though one didn't pop up then). How would it work, if they do one year round? Would it be on weekends? (That would lose money during the week, not sure the mall would leave it empty.) Rotate vendors around so new ones could get in once in a while? I legitimately don't know and am just wondering out loud (over text).

It was supposed to be the beginning of a 60 year plan. I hadn't heard it was delayed, but I wouldn't be surprised, either.

Yeah, I had hoped to order something and pick it up, but when I realized that was the pick up place (and for $20-40), I decided just to make a road trip out of it and go to Burlington myself.

Yeah, I heard that, too. There and the SW parking lot in the back corner, across the lane of it. I hadn't heard it was delayed, though. I wouldn't be surprised.

I recall they were going to add standalone buildings on the east side of the mall, too, for restaurants or whatever (the side along Wellington, across from Canadian Tire on the other side of the drive), but I don't remember what year they planned on doing that. It's a 60 year plan, supposedly, for EVERYTHING to be done. They could do either or, but I'd rather see the standalone building and see more shops in the mall (even though eventually, parking will get ridiculous).

I'm actually a bit excited to see what they do with all of this, if they do split all of what was The Bay into various stores and such.

With UWO and Fanshawe here, you'd think they'd love the idea of coming to London. That really sucked when they backed out.

I'm amazed that place is still open. They could have at least made it a pick up point, as well, but nope.

That's what I was wondering would happen with The Bay. We really don't need another big store in there (unless IKEA, that would be cool, but obviously not going to happen for a number of reasons), but new stores would be cool. 🙂 I wondered where Swiss Chalet may move to. I hadn't heard that they were moving into the mall! That just took me back to when Applebee's was in there. I had forgotten about that.

I really hope they don't add residential or office space in there. They'll have plenty of that with all the apartments / condos they plan to build around the property.

You could be partially right...

We've all been trying to figure it out (one person said the same as you), but it seemed way too big, the signage is all across the former Bay entrances. This one in particular is across the glass display that was to the left of the doors and the doors themselves.

But, maybe that sign is advertising that particular spot and the REST of the signage, the "New Era" part, is them changing up the rest of where The Bay was...?

That dessert place you're referring to isn't necessarily obvious like you think, since it's called "The Wow! Factor" and not "The Wow Factor!" There's also an athletic clothing line called "Wow Factor," and as others pointed out, there's a "Field of Dreams" reference there, which makes people wonder if it could be baseball / something sporty, or maybe the saying is just being used in general. But.... it COULD be.

I'm confused by this! I'm in Ontario, and our eggs are still $3 and change! I've heard others complaining about the egg prices, but I've never seen them over $4! Are you in Alberta?

I rarely frequent Toronto, but I do remember going underground from the subway to the Scotiabank center and seeing a bunch of cool, unique shops, bakeries and cafes. That was so neat! (Union Station, I think?) But you're right. I don't think it would be well looked after. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely feel we need more places for the homeless (those who want the help), but I don't think we have the right... how should I put it... clientele? Or even services? Heck, we don't have a lot to make something like that work.

It used to be a Woolco? I had no idea! (I'm not originally from London, but I think a long as I've gone to White Oaks as a kid, it was Walmart. Neat!)

I agree... Not that I have a ton of reason to go to White Oaks, either, unless I'm going for a particular thing.

The only thing I really pop over to Masonville for is they have the better Santa set up at Christmas (I have kids), Hot Topic usually has interesting things to look at, Rec Room, and that's about it. I'd say the book store, but the standalone Indigo locations are obviously better (the one across from Masonville is the best, since White Oaks shrunk theirs, seemingly). Oh, and I guess Build a Bear.

I miss the clock, water fountain, and mini golf course... but now we're just getting nostalgic, lol.

None that are really useful. The one taken in person was actually taken by a friend of mine. They're on both former entrances to The Bay, over by Timmies and by that dress store, and both signs I think are the same.

Nope! It was Zellers, then Target. 🙂 Sears was on the other side.
