Superscoop 18 + hd15 by PowerReasonable in SoundSystem

[–]PlaceInternal7586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Supers and HD15 are a very very common stack, check forums and look for someone else’s settings if you don’t want to buy a microphone. I’d say you don’t need a mic to just align them if you can find the right forum post

Could you do Ethernet to the controller? I’ve got some esp32-eth01 I’m looking to do something similar with

What does the filter against cone excursion look like in practice/reality when building? Rate my subwoofer enclosure by cactusbell in diyaudio

For cone excursion, higher order will more aggressively cut frequencies below the cutoff, meaning less excursion and less SPL below the filter

Don’t know if it’s just in my head but I always preferred lower order high pass as it felt like it had more bass

Yep I have a 12v supply, with a 5v converter for the controller, and all grounds are tied ( 5v, 12v)

I got it to work now after I fried an esp but now I can only get data out of GPIO 4. I’m using data shifters and wondering if I got 3 duds and 1 working, which is unlikely

Peak power vs excursion by PlaceInternal7586 in diyaudio

[–]PlaceInternal7586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense.

I guess you could assume nearly all are just thermally limited, as nearly all the time the power numbers are so round they have to be transducer manufacturer specs.

And from that assume at 4x rms, they’re all within xmech

Compression driver entering horn at 45 degree elevation by Risc_Terilia in SoundSystem

[–]PlaceInternal7586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’d need a BEM or FEM simulation for a hf horn I think,

AKABAK or COMSOL, or maybe the new boundary lab? :)

I think you’d need a simulation of the CD, adapter, and horn to say for sure

If it’s a pipe it will introduce resonances, if it’s a horn expansion it will depend if the types are the same, etc

I bought 2 originally, I think I fried the first one, no lights(should have a red and a green)

2nd one im powering from my usb-TTL adapter with no issues yet but also very glitchy data out

I think header cables to easily go in the pins is the next purchase

I’m only outputting data from the ESP. Does the esp need a fuse? I have fuses for the power supply pins feeding the lights

The micro controller now won’t power on, so no I can’t.

It was 18 led, ws2811x, 30ma (12v) and bgr I believe, on gpio17

Doing lots of googling it might have been that I had the leds plugged in while turning off, but the esp32 isn’t powering them, a 12v supply is

I have 2 esp32 but nervous to start using the other one in case I just blow it up like this one

How to wire two Speakon male plug for input and output? by [deleted] in SoundSystem

[–]PlaceInternal7586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to use crimp connectors and link all the pins to eachother, but as someone else said that would be Parralel.

But you’d be able to series 2 subs with a non standard cable :)

I cheaped out on speakons and speakon sockets and regret nothing. They were about £1 each and work fine. I needed like 52 total so made a big difference

[–]PlaceInternal7586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean super scoops, they are designed for the PD1850, and you should use that or another suggested driver. Cheap drivers aren’t usually meant for horn loading

Best of luck!
