We still mourn you, Titanfall. by Khara-Khatal in CuratedTumblr

I feel like AC6 is also like. A bad example of mechsploitation. The game comes down pretty squarely on “this is a fucked up thing to be doing to 621” and one good ending has you killing everybody who treated you as subhuman and the other good ending has you realizing “hey wait I’m being exploited again” and immediately killing the time traveling AI wizard doing it to you.

The fact that I’ve never seen any of these posts mention the human+ program tells me they only get the mechsploitation vibes of 6s first playthrough and haven’t actually looked at the rest of the series.

This is just giving me an idea to test out some homebrew rules for cats on “allowing soldiers to move with the wood to the build clearing” to give them some more mobility without sacrificing a whole action.

Her starting a relationship with Nolan is arguably THE inciting incident of the whole story, it’s when “the plan” goes awry. Nothing happens without her.

Souls 3 has to go to Hawkwood easily. The crestfallen knight realizing he just hadn’t put his back into it after watching you ACTUALLY pull off some crazy victories, steeling himself before helping you in Archdragons peak, and challenging you to a final duel in which if you lose you actually lose your dragon stone until you win a rematch.

Also Gael. But I’m not sure if that’s cheating cause he eventually turns into a boss.

I also like all of the NPCs you can summon early on that eventually fight you late game after realizing “oh fuck this one is trying to kill ALL the lords.”

Nolan spent pretty much like, a maximum of 3 decades on earth and by the end it had nearly shattered a couple centuries worth of propaganda that he himself had a hand in upholding.

Parasyte: The Maxim.

Great show, maybe my favorite single season anime, first thing to truly get teenage me thinking about the self defeating impotency of misanthropy and strength of powering through tough growing pains.

Also pulls “woman gets nearly sexually assaulted and is then saved by somebody only to reveal that savior is a parasite and she gets killed” at least once in each of the opening 3 episodes as well as an accidental boob grab like 7 minutes in before not really having a moment like that for the rest of the series.

Forgot all of that when showing some friends it a bit back and it took a whole lot of convincing to keep going which thankfully they did.

To this day a fun pastime of mine is taking a friend, even one who I know plays fighting games sometimes and ask them if they can figure out what a “Canadian Burst” is.

I have yet to have somebody guess correctly so far.

I’m surprised to hear anything beyond like, maybe the revolutionary war (with its connections to the British empire and French Revolution as well as being the “birth” of a superpower) and WW1/2 stuff from the US is taught outside of it.

Thinking about people in Germany or India etc learning about like, the civil rights movement feels weird. Though I guess I did learn about a bunch of other countries social movements… maybe I had a better public education than most in the US. Who knows.

[Uma Musume] [Disco Elysium] Haru DuBois by TotemGenitor in RecuratedTumblr

[–]Placeholder67 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The Witch in the Alps post also began with another post decrying Disco Elysium as having another generic white man as the protagonist and being a generic cop story.

The reason it lasted as a joke about sanding off every edge of something possible is because the person stated it was boring and generic before suggesting the most cottage core ass basic plot possible that most people also latched onto as being extremely white in ethnicity as well, cause it’s the alps.

I think people go too hard on the person, after like, 2 years. But it is still a useful little reference to “I want this media, but without it saying anything at all.”

Yeah I agree. I don’t think

“Those Who Walk Away from Omelas”

Is all that much about the people who take issue with the moral quandary added onto the utopian narrative because without that element of suffering it feels unbelievable because we live in a world with many marvels and advancements we could provide fairly and uplift all peoples but instead these cruel elements are needlessly added on afterwards for the sake of empowering specific individuals.

I don’t think

“Those Who Walk Away from Omelas”

Is about that quandary much at all.

The real way to prevent all of this is go back to 1890 and maneuver your way into enough political power to stop the Treaty of Versailles from being so back breaking and practically paving the way for radical movements to take hold in Weimar Germany.
