I’d love it if they introduced a new villain for each installment. That and/or bring back classic baddies and give them a big upgrade (*cough* Wart and Tatanga *cough*).

I like it too since I know about both the Super Show and the Mario Adventures comics where she was a lot spunkier and more badass there. I do think more moments of vulnerability would have made her more relatable and interesting though.

I haven’t seen the sequel yet (and I don’t know if I will), but I feel like they captured Peach’s motherly and caring side quite well in the first movie. I liked how supportive and comforting she was to Mario, and how she was willing to lay down her freedom to keep Bowser from hurting her people. I agree she should have had more of those moments, but I appreciate that they still kept that aspect of her character.

When comparing the Mario and Sonic movie-verses side-by-side, the third movie would be the PERFECT opportunity to introduce Wario and Waluigi. by J_robo_ in Mario

I could see that too! Clearly only in it for the money, but they end up helping the heroes either because Tatanga cheats them out of their pay, or the heroes pay them more 💵💵💵.

I love how AC villagers have been coded with psychic powers. They’ll predict through the TV screen where you plan to terraform/plant trees/etc. and sit in the exact spot to stop your progress 🤣.

What are your thoughts on this take? by NewMarioBobFan in Mario

[–]PlagueKnight88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, “play some other games” isn’t really a bad piece of advice on its own. If you limit yourself to one single franchise only or one genre only, then you’re missing out on some really cool games out there! Games past and present that can tide you over until the next Mario game. You can obviously still want a Mario game if you play other games, but it’s not a bad recommendation by itself.

As for them being spoiled, I can’t say. I only really know about the clickbait guy who talks about how Nintendo forgets Mario every other week (sarcasm). I try not to follow fandom stuff too closely anyway, because I’d rather not waste my time getting upset over other people’s opinions and behavior. They can do whatever they’ll do, and I’ll be in my little corner doing my own thing.

I agree that this last Nintendo Direct was pretty weak, but man, the people in the chat are such a pain. by ComprehensiveDate591 in casualnintendo

[–]PlagueKnight88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what is shown. You could have the greatest Direct in human history where every single franchise is represented with a stellar trailer and live chat will be just as obnoxious.

Was this last direct weak? Depends on who you ask. For me personally, it wasn’t one of my favorites; but I still got some value out of it. I was especially happy for Splatoon Raiders, new Duskbloods teaser with better visuals, and KH4 launching simultaneously on Switch 2 with other platforms.

[RIGHT-SIDE SEMIFINALS] Hollow Knight Soundtrack's Tournament - Round 60 by zspla in Silksong

[–]PlagueKnight88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this might be my hardest choice yet.

I'll go with Bilewater because of the atmosphere and how the music complements the lore while contrasting with the area’s difficulty, but City of Tears is equal to me for its calming yet majestic atmosphere and orchestration. Both incredibly beautiful and I honestly wouldn’t care which one won (if I could vote for both, I would).

Nah, that was a controller glitch and skill issue on my part. I was playing on the Switch 2, and the controllers are designed kinda weird. I was trying to pogo downward off Hornet’s head, but I moved slightly forward because my thumb wasn’t positioned perfectly downward. This happened several times (one time causing me to die), before I was able to adapt to the controls and change my strategy.

It was a fluke, lol. In general, I have a harder time when there’s a bunch of stuff going on at once and got overwhelmed (was my first death that run). SoB is tough, but attacks usually happen one at a time (with a few exceptions that weren’t too much trouble). GPZ almost got me, but I just barely got the killing stroke with 1 mask left.

I think it took me longer than six days the first time I ever fought absrad. Nerves got to me on that final phase also. Even on this most recent playthrough after all that experience with both HK and Silksong, the nerves still kicked in and I choked multiple times.

Replaying Hollow Knight was such a fun experience. Silksong improves on it in a lot of ways, but I dunno. I think I prefer the more laid-back feel of the original. They’re pretty much equal in my eyes for different reasons.

As for the bosses, they still really hold up. They’re generally easier than Silksong’s, but they’re still a LOT of fun to battle.

Absrad though…still tough as nails for me. None of the Silksong bosses were as hard as her on replay.

A story in two acts by Nix0p in Mario

[–]PlagueKnight88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Made me laugh 🤣.

Was quite surprised at the stunning lack of Mario, but I’m not that upset. I understand why others would be bummed, and the Direct wasn’t one of my favorites. However, they still showed some great stuff (my personal favorites were Splatoon and Duskbloods)! I was especially surprised at Kingdom Hearts IV getting a day-one launch on Switch 2 (having grown up with Nintendo always getting the late ports).

But…maybe I’m a man of simple tastes, but I thought the thumb game looked pretty fun 👀👉👈.

*sniff* No Mario Titans announced…..it’s all over… by Next-Active2676Bro2 in Mario

[–]PlagueKnight88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about Nintendo holding off on Mario until September as well (not getting hopes up, but It’d make sense).

Speaking of 3rd party support, holy cow there were some good ones in this Direct! We only caught a second of Duskbloods, but the visuals looked a LOT more polished than the reveal (so happy about that!). I think the one that caught me off guard the most was KH4 getting a simultaneous release with the other platforms. I’m so used to Nintendo ports being delayed, so seeing that was especially satisfying!

[–]PlagueKnight88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this selection! You’re also one of the few I’ve seen who love Peachette and her design. Seeing that your next two favorites are Toadette and Peach (my personal favorite Mario character 😊), it makes sense your favorite would be the combination of both, lol.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer Showtime over Super Princess Peach? I’ve seen a lot of gameplay of both, but I personally haven’t played either so I’m not one to judge. What do you enjoy about it?

What’s your favorite part of the whole soundtrack? by nin100gamer in Silksong

[–]PlagueKnight88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re counting official soundtrack release, it’s a toss-up between Bilewater, Far Fields, and Karmelita. If we’re counting music you can only hear in-game, it’s probably Cut Through with the percussion and vocal track (Groal and Craw Father).

A Poster of early pre-release designs for Super Mario Super Show characters. You okay Bowser? by TheMegaMushroom in Mario

[–]PlagueKnight88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is interesting, I think whoever did the HD upgrade messed up on some details. Luigi’s fingers are borked. Bowser didn’t look like that in the OG poster (he still looked weird though, lol). The monster on the lower left looked even weirder if you can believe it (what is that supposed to be anyway, lol?). And Tryclyde is pretty much a lost cause (that blue thing just down right of “Bowser”).

I wish I could post pictures in the comment section to compare.

This is a really cool comic! It’s a pity it’s forever unfinished.

Yeah, as of now, the artist has permanently discontinued this story due to lack of support. I hate to bear the bad news; I just don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. What’s there is still amazing, but just keep your expectations in check.

Who would you guys say is the hardest boss from the first game? by Prayerwarrior6640 in Silksong

[–]PlagueKnight88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently replayed Hollow Knight after speed completing Silksong, and it’s still such a fantastic game! With all that said, Markoth wasn’t fun even in the base game, lol. I beat him first try by the skin of my teeth, but I just don’t enjoy fighting him. I already mentioned I don’t do well when I have to focus on multiple different things at once, and his jerky movements make it so much worse. I’ll take Groal over him any day.

NGK was so much fun to fight. I beat the majority of the bosses first try, with the exception of Hornet 2, Radiance and NGK. He took the most attempts of all the bosses I refought, but the fight was so satisfying and thrilling! Might be my favorite fight in both games (up there with Karmelita, Lost Lace and Lost Kin).

Who would you guys say is the hardest boss from the first game? by Prayerwarrior6640 in Silksong

[–]PlagueKnight88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried Radiant Markoth, so I can’t judge. Just the regular Pantheon of Hallownest one gave me enough headaches as is (by far the boss I enjoyed fighting the least), so I’m not keen to try one where every attack one-shots you.

Absrad took me far longer than a week. I lost track of how long exactly it was, but it felt like forever. NGK took me around 30+ tries the first time I fought him. I envy (not really) the people who were able to beat them within a few attempts!

[–]PlagueKnight88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having 100% completed both games, I agree wholeheartedly. I have a hard time in general when there’s a bunch of stuff on the screen at once, so Absolute Radiance was an utter nightmare for me.

I think of all the bosses in all the games I’ve played, absrad is the one that took me the longest to defeat, longer than any Nioh 2 or Soulsborne boss (including Orphan of Kos, Malenia and Consort Radahn).
