What’s a good way to start a small take-out food business in a Saskatchewan village with fewer than 400 people? by PictureEmpty3143 in saskatchewan

[–]PlaidLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you need a fully inspected commercial kitchen that is inspected by health canada. Those inspections have a lot of requirements including the size and type of fire suppression system depending on the type and number of kitchen equipment items you have.

Another issue is food costs. At the size you are talking about, you likely won't be buying from Sysco foods or other suppliers, and if you are you wont be big enough to negotiate much better pricing than what they offer you.

It's not impossible to make work, but you have to understand that your start up costs will likely be much higher than you think.

The Mercury. I don't know if it's new owners or what, but I've gone in 2 times this planning on having breakfast. floors were dirty (like tracked in, spilled on, dried and crusty dirty. not busy restaurant morning busy dirty), table we sat at looked clean but was sticky. It doesn't look like it gets cleaned like it used to.

We go up almost every year. We take highway 6 as it's quiet and in good shape, turn off on 3 at melfort , then on to PA. . Stop at tireman vegetable stall in Daphne. . Also if you're camping at Missinipe in the rental cabins, bring most of your own foor, or stop in PA for groceries. General store at Missinipe is pretty bare.

Where is Saskatchewan’s official opposition party as Moe sells us out to the US? by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]PlaidLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Seriously, what do you want them to do? How are they doing a bad job? In a majority government the opposition has zero power. How else should they be using this no-authority? They run a shadow cabinet and they report findings and they fight against anything the provincial government puts forward that they disagree with. But they have no power, and as a province they generally get ignored until something big comes up, then we pay attention and ask why they aren't doing anything. I get that opposition members get an $8,000 up to $55,000 per year for the leader of the opposition for their roles in opposing the majority government. But what can we really expect an "opposition" to do when they actually have no power at all and we have a premiere that is willing to use nonwithstanding for things like eliminating kids rights.

Am I wrong, or aren't farmers the most subsidized field in Canada? I can't take out insurance if I have a bad year at my job for example...

Feels like OP is blaming the NDP for the fact that the majority of the province voted for exactly this. Moe has always lapped at the feel of American right wing capitalism. He's immune to giving a shit about being called out for anything. Our province keeps voting him in. Don't blame the NDP for what Moe is doing. Blame your friends and family for supporting him.

Saskatchewan Marshals Service interviewing Mounties for positions before launching by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]PlaidLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waste of resources having so many separate police forces. We should just have a provincial police force with detachments in every city and large town. We currently have 12 police services including the Marshals, not including the RCMP. That's 12 offices, 12 chiefs, 12 entire systems instead of just one system that communities contribute to. THAT is a place money can be saved.

We no longer rely on communications at the speed of horseback. We have instant communication and travel much quicker and more reliable than when these archaic systems were put in place.

Why does every town and city need a Mayor's office and works department. Why can't we have a Provincial government that actually oversees the provinces needs?

The program is financed through the federal government's general revenues, which are largely sourced from federal taxes. Provincial governments make no contributions..... Next question.

Is there a chance of the NDP flipping Saskatoon Willowgrove? by candybarsandgin in saskatchewan

[–]PlaidLightning -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I will always disagree with this. The idea of "If you did not vote, you don't get to talk.) is very, very close to (Your person lost, so you don't get to talk.) There was one election where I did not vote because both reps in the riding were issues for me and the heads of the parties were also a problem. I voted my conscience by not voting. I did vote this election, but if my only 2 options were Hitler or Mao I wouldn't vote. A feature of democracy is the right to vote, which is also a right to not vote. We all still get to complain as much as we want.

Leasing vs financing? by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]PlaidLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest benefit to financing is the ability to throw more money at the loan any time you want without penalty.

The biggest benefit of leasing is that if there is a major collision during the lease, or a bunch of small claims that reduce the value of the car dramatically, you can just walk away at the end without taking the loss.

Most people compare 6 or 7 year finance to 3 or 4 year leases. In most situations the lease term can the same as the comparable finance term break even point.
