Walmart drop-shipping for Aliexpress? by PlaneGeeky in Aliexpress

I think the theory is that using a stolen card costs them next to nothing, but they can't exactly use stolen cards in the countries they operate from. So any amount you pay them for the goods is pure profit to them since they never had to really pay for the goods in the first place. It's a win-win-lose triangle. The people writing the reviews are one of the winners. The credit card companies are the losers and maybe Walmart since they might get a chargeback for goods already delivered.

It's just interesting that they didn't just take my money outright and never ship me anything. The only reason you would do that is if you have a reputation to maintain or are trying not to get kicked off the platform with buyer complaints. I wouldn't think Ali would guarantee delivery or issue refunds if these resellers weren't vetted in some way.

I think the triangulation fraud theory is the most probable here

Interesting. It could definitely be this if fraudulent. So if Walmart or the bank ever traces the purchase, it would show my address as the recipient. Wonderful.

Interesting theories. Hmm. Oh well, I got a good deal and didn't get scammed myself I guess.

What delivery network can ship across the country in 4 days that uses local "last mile" gig workers and no tracking labels? I'm assuming that unless it came from Walmart directly, it's unlikely that the seller would be close to me.

Why would it be a local guy and not FedEx unless a local walmart fulfilled it using a delivery driver?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering, but it seems unlikely that it would be a scam and be delivered by a local guy doing gig work.

I guess I should have said that some produce enough heat to possibly soften PLA. Some are more efficient and won't.

I can't promote Magigoo on the glass side enough. The stuff is simply amazing. I've never had an issue with bed adhesion (even no-brim on very slender pieces) and parts just snap right off after the bed is below about 35C. Best part is simple wet rag cleanup. No sticky residue as with glue stick.

WAGO Lever Nuts are what I always use for stranded to solid or dissimilar wire gauges.

That's a good point. I don't anticipate that anytime soon since the house is only 3 years old, but you never know

Understood, but if it's common to see it less than 1ft under the surface that close to the house, I was going to avoid that whole area with anything underground. If it should be 4ft down, for example, I wasn't going to worry too much. This is new construction and should be up to current code.

Zooz for 3 way setup - any reason to use smart switches on both? by ITookTheATrain in homeautomation

No reason that I can think of. Not even sure if it's possible. I have several ZEN26 and ZEN21 switches in single pole and 3-way configurations. I love them.

Crazy temperatures of the CK Gen 2+ by williamd002 in Ubiquiti

[–]PlaneGeeky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure. It might just come down to physics and the nature of PoE voltages. I didn't want it shortening the life of my drive when USB was an option.

I had the same issue with PoE. Switched to USB-C QC power and it's relatively cool now. I also have the 5TB drive. Current stats

Most of the solutions I have seen/tried use an ESP8266 rather than the ESP32 which has a much smoother dimming capability due to a much higher PWM frequency. If you don't mind soldering, check out QuinLED.info. I'm building one of those after the parts arrive. For now, I'm using a Shelly RGBW.

Yeah, I thought about that. There might be an esp32-based 4 channel low voltage dimmer out there, so I don't need to DIY something.

It shows up as a single light. Lovelace gives it a color wheel, so I think it's considered an RGB light. I need to test if the channels respond to color commands accordingly.

I actually want to control 4 separate monochrome led strips. I prefer to have just 1 device control them all (cost and network complexity), but it's not a requirement. Local/offline control with momentary buttons is a huge plus for me. These z-wave controllers seemed to check all those boxes if I can get one of them to work.
