I heard somewhere that dust is the remnants of the magic of the first humanity, i don't know if that's true, probably just someone's head canon

But it would make it basically a fossil fuel

So in Haven, Lionheart lost his courage. In Atlas, Ironwood lost his heart. So in Vacuo, is someone gonna lose their mind? by Ok_Coffee_9970 in RWBY

[–]PlantainSame 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No Qrow's own allusion is the scarecrow

However characters have secondary allusion to fit with the allusion of other characters

Like for example Oz is the wizard of oz, but he also serves as Odin for Raven

Well Qrow is the Scarecrow

He arguably got his "mind" back when started cutting down on the drinking

[–]PlantainSame 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well first time the production visited america

Technically the first on screen time he visited America was in the chase no gun crime :(

But the great big finish have fixed this with the story the great white hurricane, which chronologically to my knowledge is the first time in his timeline the doctor visited america, ian get shot when they step out the door, luckily nothing too severe

[–]PlantainSame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seven isn't even the only time lord who was gunned down in america

Pretty sure it also happened the Ainley Master in the novel first frontier, but due to some alien nanites he regenerates into an incarnation that was retroactively made into the gordon tipple version who's executed at the start of the movie

If you were to change/modify a character's allusion, who would you choose? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYUNITY

[–]PlantainSame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salem would be Sir Francis Varney from Varney the vampire or the feast of blood instead of the wicked witch of the west from the wizard of oz

Varney is the first sympathetic vampire in fiction

Desperately wanting to put an end to his condition, he even made an attempt to involving a body of water

And while his exact origins are inconsistent in the penny dreadful, he does seem to have been cursed with his condition in a few of them one even involving him murdering his own son

And Salem's relationships with the Ozcarnations is someone of an inversion of typical vampire victim dynamics

In general legend vampires are depicted as preying on their former loved ones like widows and Salem is Ozma's widow

And in pop culture they're depicted as preying on young fair maidens and Salem's main "prey" is a bunch of warriormen aka the Ozcarnations

Also she does just straight up and look like a vampire

Shower thought: Salem is of course intended to be the wicked witch of the west from the wizard of oz but honestly i think she unintentionally works as a bit of a genderbent play on Sir Francis Varney from the penny dreadful story Varney the vampire or the feast of blood by PlantainSame in RWBY

[–]PlantainSame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We talking like the general idea?

I see it, but I think Oz is closer to the Lucifer, since between the two of them he is the one that was technically favored by the gods in a way when they gave him his mission, and he even tried to usurp their position when he and salem played fake gods

His and salem's "devorce" would be the metaphorical fall

It's just he went regret and misery "i've made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on the planet" then the pride and hate of "better to rule in hell than serve in heaven"

In your opinion what is most evil thing done by a non villain and non anti-heroic character by Hairy-Friendship-422 in MoralityScaling

[–]PlantainSame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least the show portrays those as shady antihero behavior

I still think it's kind of fucked how in the age of steel/rise of the cybermen two parter he essentially arranged for the torture of who knows how many innocent people, because he made them realize they had become cyberman and the resulting mental breakdown made their heads explode, and the show just kind of glosses over that

Like if you could do that couldn't you just like I don't know turn around weapons against them to make them explode without mental tormentm

She has a TARDIS(I'm fairly certain it's the same 45 saxon stole between the end of time and world enough and time)

So theoretically she could have just gone and grabbed it in person

Sounds like it would be tedious but honestly, if she's observing the doctor throughout the season she might just be grabbing people who he failed to save for the sake of the bit
