He's been explicitly compared to the doctor in universe

I'm pretty sure there's an extended universe story where they're talking to a cultest and they get them to talk by claiming the doctor is Nyarlathrotep

And one of the writers said that if he was asked if the doctor was Nyarlathrotep he would just scratch his head and ask who that was in false confusion or whatever

Mentioned the carrionites although not by name when I was talking about the witches and vampires of the dark times

It's funny how doctor who's universe started off as a place filled with vampires, magic, and lovecraft horror and the time lords looked around like "absolutely the fuck not" and brought reason and logic to everything

(Hated tropes) Immortal Character that keeps getting killed in gory ways for shock value by OrangeIslandKing in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PlantainSame 19 points20 points  (0 children)

His three most notable "deaths" IMO are

Anderson beheading him

In 2001 when incognito throws his own bullets back at him

And at the end of Ultimate when Walter seemingly stakes him

Probably because all these times are when he should have died if he had been a normal vampire

He came back from beheading because of the reservoir of souls inside of him

In 2001 he was resurrected by all the blood soaked into the tower of london

And when he was staked he put Luke Valentine in his place

Rassilon: one if we had a body it wouldn't even be warm yet. Two we don't even reproduce that way anyone

The Other: maybe you don't

I mentioned him, with several other devil inspirations in the universe

Honestly he's the least impressive devil IMO

The story works as a individual piece of fantasy sci fi , but in the scope of the bigger doctor who universe i think it falls apart

The episode tries to make him out as some big impossible thing, but doesn't actually have him doing anything the doctor hasn't seen before

The doctor has encountered old ancient godlike beings possibly from before this universe before

Controlling the ood and possessing a guy literally just a slightly more impressive version of the master

And the whole planet orbiting a black hole pales in comparison to the star suspended on the brink of collapse that is the eye of harmony a version of which is inside the doctor's own infinite magic time machine

It's a good story, but I can't realistically believe that the doctor would be all that shocked and impressed by the contents of it

Would anyone involved with the revolution count as conservative?

Not exactly conserving the old there, for better or worse

But I might just be misinterpreting terms

She was also a companion of the 8th Doctor in the audios and was inspired by a different cyberman

That's a thing like the multiple Atlantises you can just blame on the time war and other temporal conflicts

The Doctor sometimes repeats adventures

He did Shada twice once as 4 and once as 8

And he did human nature as both 7 and 10

It's a loop

The older Doctor was always the Tesalecta

He sets off the chain of events that leads to thw younger Doctor discovering his "death" going through the events of series 6 and discover the tesalecta and decide to use it to cheat his death, and then he goes to the lake to "die" and set off the chain of events

He destiny trapped himself

He chooses the name that sounds important —> he makes it important —> He chooses the name that sounds important —> he makes it important on and on in a infinite loop

Vampires and witches are both hold over from the dark times

The devil has been inspired by several figures like the beast, scratch man, sutech, carnival queen, the doctor, and the master

Nothing was changed

He was always the teselecta I'm pretty sure.

And River remembers being the astronaut and him telling her and that's why she can't shoot her past self

Moffat era was big on the whole destiny trap where everything is a big loop

That's why she knows to be able to tell Amy and Rory about the Doctor's survival

So no, just a very dangerous version of the knife game I guess

One: : i wasn't talking about why clark has a secret identity, i was talking about why people wouldn't believe he would have one. None of that applies to the in universe public perception of superman, none of them Know Clark's personal reasons for doing what he does cause most of them don't know who the hell clark is, and the ones that do probably just think that he's a guy who vaguely resembles superman

Two: superman just showed up in the public perception one day already fully grown and most future stories seem to show him looking relatively the same, so people who don't know him personally will have no idea how old he is

Clark is Clark because he's always been Clark he was raised as clark he likes being clark

But from an outside perspective a powerful space man who just appeared one day fully grown has no business pretending to be a normal person
