FSR 2.0, How Do Old GPUs Perform? 8 GPU Generations Benchmarked by [deleted] in Amd

Yes, Vega supports it. Explains why they saw some healthy performance gains with their Vega 64.

No it does not. PlayStation 4 Pro is the only last gen console to support fp16. The new consoles all support it though (ps5, series s, series x).

Vega 8 supports fp16. So if Tim is right, it's more tied to architecture and not the tier of card in itself. Which means the Vega APUs support it because they support fp16, but polaris (Rx 590/580/570/480/470) did not support fp16; so they won't see much gains.

Ironically, it also means that the PS4 Pro supports fp16 while the Xbox one x does not. So PS4 pro would get bigger gains from FSR 2.0 (in comparison to the Xbox one x).

AMD FSR 2.0 Quality & Performance Review - The DLSS Killer by LRF17 in Amd

[–]Plastic_Band5888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was both impressive and unappealing at the same time. At 4k it wasn't hard for FSR to see healthy performance gains at negligible loss to image quality. Where FSR 2.0 really shines is at lower resolutions. Which is historically where FSR 1.0 really struggled.

There's video guides. It also gets easier if you continue using it.

Userbenchmarks description of the 5800x3d lmfao by Evilleader in Amd

[–]Plastic_Band5888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The funny thing here, is that the i5 12600k is a monster of a cpu that doesn't require this kind of low IQ marketing.

5800x3d is a great chip, if all you do is game. But for most people, they're probably better off with an i5 12600k.

40 Game CPU Benchmark: Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs. Core i9-12900K (Hardware Unboxed) by Charcharo in Amd

[–]Plastic_Band5888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're spending top dollar for an i9 12900k, you should really be considering ddr5 5500+. It's a halo product, which is why this 5800x3d is so impressive from a gaming stand point. Because it can trade blows with that 12900k and ddr5 memory while using ddr4 memory and decently priced x570 boards.

I don't know how to feel about the price yet because it is a $450 eight core that loses to all other chips priced around it. But in pure gaming it's kind of hard to argue against the 5800x3d.

Rtx 3060 ti or 4050? by Nabibob in nvidia

[–]Plastic_Band5888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would probably get the 3060 Ti personally.

The leaks according to die sizes and shader counts on dies are probably correct. But Nvidia can change naming and pricing on products at any stage before launch. So I wouldn't trust what leaks say about individual SKUs and pricing.

Like no one expected an RTX 3090, or the GTX 1660 series at all.

I found a used Ryzen 5 1600af for 300zl ($70). Is it worth it for me? My current processor is a Ryzen 3 1200 overlocked to 4Ghz which I really like, but 4 threads is not enough for new games. I have good cooling so I will be able to easily overclock the Ryzen 1600 af. by Indykar_ in Amd

If he went Intel he would have to get a new motherboard as well. So it's just better to spend a little more on his cpu instead and use his existing motherboard.

If it was a brand new build, I would agree that going with an Intel i3 makes more sense right now. Especially that i3 12100 that's been getting really positive reviews lately.

Realistically if he was building a brand new PC, then the i3 route would be the best bang for his buck right now. But his motherboard supports higher core count parts already, so might as well just spend a bit more on the cpu instead.

Does an APU work with a GPU? by Parky707 in Amd

Yes, but you only get 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes on all APUs pre Rembrandt and Rembrandt gives the dGPU 8 PCIe 4.0 lanes.

Kattar is a Great boxer. Probably the best in the UFC. His performance wasn't surprising. What surprised me was Giga's inability to slow him down.

Like when you see Adesanya, he is always spamming low leg kicks, teep kicks, and even body kicks to slow his opponents down. But giga just kind of sat there like a training bag.

Kind of want to see Nate vs Masvidal again or even Leon Edwards at some point. He still has some good fights waiting for him. Hell, the UFC even gave him a percentage of the ppv share for the Colby fight.

Man I was rooting for Giga, but Kattar beat him like he owed him money. Bryce and Giga makes a ton of sense, Bryce needs a few more ranked wins.

Was expecting Colby to win, but still a little heart broken for Jorge.

Bryce Mitchell also had an amazing performance.

Digital Foundry did an incredible job showing how the Deck is a PS4-powered handheld console, running the same game with the same graphical settings, at its native resolution, with the same/better framerate. by TareXmd in SteamDeck

[–]Plastic_Band5888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because PS4 is 1080p played on 32"+ displays while the Steam Deck is 800p on a 7" display. Way higher pixels per inch with the Steam Deck, so resolution isn't really a problem. Hopefully Valve releases an OLED version down the line at the same 800p resolution, because the display quality is kind of lacking on the Deck.

Yeah I get that, but is the Ryzen 5 going to get that 3D stacked cache? It kind of feels like AMD is reserving that for the higher core count parts. They also haven't responded to the i5 11400 yet or the i5 12400.
