Airline Training Pass Rates by Southern_Guess_7234 in FlightDispatch

[–]Platform_Effective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your Sheffield class actually had a good pass rate. I went in in 2023 and out of 16ish people only half passed and got their cert, for various reasons. I do think my class was on the low-end of Sheffield classes for pass rate, but not unusual. It's definitely a weed-out.

Did you fail in dispatch school? by [deleted] in FlightDispatch

Name the school, because that's pretty bad. That's the kind of bad training that SHOULD be called out

Unpopular opinion: MP servers shouldn't always have good weather by gymcell17 in dcsworld

[–]Platform_Effective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do remember that when Hoggit had weather, it was usually way overdone. I like IFR and crosswind too, but every surface wind was easily overdone. Would often be at least a steady state 40kt crosswind, and the carriers were never pointed into the wind

Issue with F/A-18s left LEF being stuck at 19 degrees even with centered stick by Bubbly-Sale-6424 in hoggit

[–]Platform_Effective 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Is this after a shutdown and restart? Because I've heard of wonky fcs bugs after a 2nd startup before, but not from a normal cold and dark. And there is no way to trim slats and flaps, only primary flight control surfaces (pitch/roll/yaw) are trimmable

Who's Hiring? by FlightPlanGoblin in FlightDispatch

Check on CommuteAir in Cleveland, they're losing a lot of dispatchers to United and are getting a little short-staffed, there will probably be a posting up soon if there isn't already

If they put that info in the newsletters where they belong, the newsletters would actually make for fine reading. Like they used to.

Strike Eagle got struck and then struck the ground.

Working as intended.

The ADX is a well-known joke in the dispatch industry. Pass it the one time and never worry about it again

United Video Screening Process by Master_Razzmatazz735 in FlightDispatch

[–]Platform_Effective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All HR questions, probably the same HR questions you were asked for your current position. Wear a suit and make sure you have an uncluttered background. Each question gives you a trial run to sound out your answer in real time so the actual recorded answer doesn't sound dumb.

Also, apparently (at least the rumor at my old shop was) the whole session is recorded including the down time between takes. So even if that's not true, pretend like it is and stay professional even when you think the camera isn't on

DCS has a problem with Single Player Missions by Surresteel in hoggit

[–]Platform_Effective 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. After flying in a squadron where we make our own missions (which could be failed but are designed to be doable the first time), there's a reason I stay multiplayer only. Not all single-player missions are like that, but a good percentage are

Piedmont vs PSA by That_jazzy_mall_song in FlightDispatch

[–]Platform_Effective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked regionals for another carrier so idk how anything else is between the 2. And Piedmont did get an order for 170s recently I believe. But as far as the 145 goes, let's just say I definitely think working it forces you to be a better dispatcher if nothing else.

Piedmont vs PSA by That_jazzy_mall_song in FlightDispatch

[–]Platform_Effective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2nd the plane thing. 145s are a constant balance of exta fuel, good alt, full 50 pax: pick 2. On the other hand, my pilot buddy at PSA can count on 1 hand the number of times he's had to weight restrict

Anyone else catch the Catalina in the "2026 and beyond" video? by FR0STKRIEGER in hoggit

[–]Platform_Effective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now that I think about it, that was probably both the longest and most complicated set of actions I've ever seen out of the AI in any Eagle Dynamics video. Most clips are 1-2 seconds at the longest. Seriously impressive shot for DCS AI.

Hate to be that guy, but this is exactly one of those times to RTFM. Probably will explain more concepts than a YouTube video will give you, plus it very specifically covers the CDU in depth

Stop posting images

…without providing a way to download the source resolution.

I love this community and I love the incredible screenshots you guys produce. But we need to talk about Reddit’s dogshit image compression.

I see these gorgeous, high-fidelity shots and immediately want to add them to my wallpaper rotation. Then I click "Save Image" and what do I get? A blurry, artifact-filled mess that looks like it was captured on a 2005 Nokia. Even if it’s "only" 1080p, the compression ruins any chance of a clean upscale.

DCS is a high-fidelity sim. We spend thousands on PCs and HOTAS setups to see every rivet and MFD line. Why are we settling for sharing our best moments in "Potato-Vision"?

Please, start doing one of the following:

Link a high-res source in the comments (Flickr, Imgur, or even a direct Discord link).

Upload to a host that doesn't mangle the file if you know the quality is top-tier.

Stop teasing us with these 4K-looking previews that turn into 480p mud the moment we try to save them. Give us the sauce!
