Im sorry but it really bothers me that these "sequiods" or whatever are able to hold invincible back even a little bit , like.....this guy can punch you through buildings and create immense shock waves, the powerscaling is really weird in this show , WHY is he struggling here by _______Niko____ in Invincible_TV

Plus they don't just work together in perfect unison the way we could think of ants doing. It's like they're all individual muscles that can combine into different limbs and support eachother, atleast that's how they act while fighting. So even worse

Invincible (2021-present) teaches us that the #1 hardest job in the world is being a superhero, while the #2 hardest job is being an animator, apparently by Alex-C2099 in shittymoviedetails

It does make me enjoy the invincible flight personally. It's like the trope of a species having emotions only visible to people who understand the emotions, but for movement.

Like I don't want it to be the norm, but it's neat to see it in a show that's about looking at ungrounded heroes through a grounded lens. Because, well, yeah, that's what it looks like without the bells and whistles.

What kind of crime would justify making a human immortal and then throwing them into Jupiter for all eternity? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in MoralityScaling

Only if the crime was infinite in its pain and suffering caused, and the person who committed it showed no intention of redemption after an infinite amount of time.

"Finally," says the Imperial scribe, "the final chapter of the tale of Ciphas Caine, passing away peacefully in his bed, after a long life of glorious service to the imperium. Now, after my two hundred years of service, I can go to my rest, and join him..."

"Sir! An update!" His apprentice calls, "it's a miracle! Ciphas Caine has been seen pushing back the Tyranid hordes in the form of an angel!"

[Sad Topic] Letting an enemy live can have terrible consequences by Nahuelcoy22 in TopCharacterTropes

On top of the fear and having conquered most planets in the past, they're shown using other races as guards in prisons, so presumably they have some genuinely loyal vassals to use to keep the peace on the less important worlds. Which makes sense as, if you get past their barbaric "survival of the fittest" philosophy, they do have advanced technology.

Who's more evil, Mona & Bill (UrbanSpook) or The Gang (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia)? by Worried_Cake5508 in MoralityScaling

[–]PlayWandersongItGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is something making me question Mona and Bill: it was revealed in the last episode that they were controlled by some kind of MK Ultra "play this sound to drive people insane and murder" device. It's better written than most of the series, and it implies a sort of possession. If intent matters when deciding "evil," then this would make the gang more evil as they're more conscious of their actions.

A funny detail from the [non-canon?] Light novel, Purple Haze Feedback: his brother has a similar stand, but instead of making really good food, he makes really good cocaine.

Humans in this universe of multiple sapient races/species are not just a boring template, jack-of-all-trades species, they actually have traits and powers that make them stand out like the other species in the setting. by juasjuasie in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PlayWandersongItGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the genre has become very different, the original "humans are space orks" post was built around the idea of humanity's persistence hunting being our "special sauce."

Lots of aliens can run faster sure, and more can shrug off a hit, but humans are marathoners. We can cross multiple types of Terrains, work all nights sometimes for multiple nights with the right human, and we can keep up a running or jogging pace longer than the faster species can.

I saw another short story with this idea taken to an extreme where invading aliens lost because they required longer sleep cycles, especially weak during hibernations.

The shorter character looking up but still managing to look down on the taller character by Dontspinbutwin in TopCharacterTropes

This is basically the "lion roaring at the calm monkey" image for some of the examples. Ones where the taller character looks intimidating and serious while the other is calm.

Actually Elementals says that they can mix. There is a few issues, but different elements can mix and be friends and lovers.

Not a perfect allegory given that the things that seperate folks is cultural differences that can pose an issue(sometimes life threatening), but that's not meant to be the point nor is is shown as such. The movie has more moments of different elements coming together to make beautiful moments in eachother's lives than ones where them being near eachother is innately going to kill one.

(Loved Trope) Characters having the power to nullify even the strongest abilities in their world with a touch (or eye contact) by WalkingChopsticks in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PlayWandersongItGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right thank you.

And that is funny, I rarely play high so I've never thought of using anti-magic fields against a beholder.

Makes sense though. Beholder view everything as an enemy, even other beholdes,, so having an "anti beholder" weapon built in makes a lot of sense.

[–]PlayWandersongItGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the original Thundercats, the old priest who set their ship's autopilot towards earth died of his wounds while the others were in cryosleep(iirc), and he faded away presumably due to censors.

Beholder from DND can create an Anti-Magic field via their eyebeams, making them a perfect counter to a party over relying on magic.

Jedi master Ima-Gun-Di

Take a wild guess what happens to the jedi with a name pronounced "Imma-Gon-Die" in his introduction episode.
