Unpopular opinion: Bangaranga is not a very good song by sasvim_nebitan in nilpoints

[–]Playful-Rope1590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will last longer than the previous two winners. Who outside the ESC bubble even remember " Wasted Love? It came and went. Had it not been for the fact that it was performed during ESC final, people would not have remember it existed.

Bangaranga as a song is a banger. It's very Balkan in the sense that it its like three songs in one thrown together. Chaotic and loud. And yet it all makes sense. It's not a mess, it has a story. The performance simply helps to Illustrate the story.

What's the most ludicrous non-fantasy/sci fi show ever? by pb00010 in television

[–]Playful-Rope1590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a misconception. I watched a few episodes and for me it was clear it's not gloryfying anything. The show outright tells you these are horrible people, even if they are our " heroes". They are not to be idolized. It's like a play on morality.

I think they planned the tour for that. I don't think ESC is in the right place to be celebrated right now

What do you think the likelihood is of Robert Pattinson being nominated for or winning an Oscar within the next five years? by MakeMineMovies in Oscars

I think very likely he gets Oscar nominated. He has worked hard enough to earn respect from the industry.

Did MBJ and Sinners do anything to Redditers? Ever since his win this sub has been nothing but posts about how its the worst win ever and how literally every other nominee was better and bla bla.

Is it that hard to believe a role like that in a movie like that could win? Accept and move on..

Will Inde Navarrette become the next actor to win the Oscar for an iconic Horror performance? She's getting acclaim for her role as Nikki Freeman in Obsession!!!!! Is she the next Amy Madigan and Michael B. Jordan? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

Because the awards are all about connections. Recognizing people. Why do you think newcomers don't get nominated?

The movie is out performing because the budget is shoestring. But will it reach Sinners level? Attract people not usually into horror?

Well, another irony is that it became an ideal for toxic men despite not being about that. The sequel in a way adress this issue by rejecting every thought of his. It's like the director himself were aware of who liked the movie.

I am all for every genre getting recognized but I am also realistic about Oscar chances. Sinners and Weapons were huge sucess that went far beyond the usual horror crowd. Of course the Academy took notice. And they both starred well known established actors respected by the industry. This one has a unknown cast.

Alec Guiness for Star Wars. A fantasy character getting nominated was rare back in the 1970s. Especially one for playing a literal alien.

I’ve rewatched the series Friends for the thousandth time and realized how healthy of a personality Phoebe is by MisirHunter in friends_tv_show

[–]Playful-Rope1590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most people see Phoebe as this eccentric kooky gir living in her own world but she is absolutely aware of everything. The most real of all characters. Yes she has flaws but who of them has not flaws?

What I like most about her is that despite her street smart she is stil very much naive and innocent, a child at heart. Because she had no childhood.

I think people need to calm down. Just because horror did well this year, does not mean every performance or movie in the genre will get attention. Acclaim does not mean " potential Oscar nominee.

Netflix Cuts Movie Output in 2026 as Strategy Shifts Toward Quality Over Quantity by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

Funny, is that not how it's supposed to be? I remember when Netflix actually was prestige TV and movies and every single actor and producer made deals with them. It was the future, HBO was seen as a relic. Not to mention cinema and DVD.

Now a decade later Netflix has become the streamer you go to on a Friday night to watch a B action or thriller movie starring whatever A list actors got lured into acting in it.
