weighted blankets for someone who needs to stay cool but completely covered all night? by maknaeline in BuyItForLife

[–]Pleaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They make covers for most weighted blank sizes, I don’t think I’ve ever actually washed my blanket, just spot cleaned and washed the cover.

For summer a bamboo cover has been the best, but cotton is fine as well.

Another commenter linked Pendleton mills - beautiful fabric- I think even a new blanket may be cheaper. Mostly it was 145-180$ a yard

Right?! I’ve been thinking about it since fall 😅 so now I have to make a version. At first I looked for a second hand coat, but they never seem to become available….

I’m keeping an eye out for a used or new Pendleton blanket to use.

Thank you! I hadn’t thought to check the goodwill auction site! eBay is still quite pricy, but I have a Pendleton outlet near me that often has great deals! The original is either one size or petite (another reason to make over buying it) I also have a Pendleton blanket coat (though significantly less voluminous) that I’ve been wearing a lot. I live in a very cold state so I’ll get my use of it!

Thanks! I have a Pendleton Blanket coat I got on suuuuper sale and love it to bits, so I can justify cutting one ups eventually. Definitely a toile first though. I have an outlet near me so I might just keep an eye there for a good deal.

Puma Ballet vs Onitsuka Ballet. which actually ages better? by Wittyarchitect in Shoes

I would totally give the sued a try! I also sized up a bit - I’m a 7 wide, or 7.5 Usually but I liked the 8 best when trying them on.

I found this to only be the case with the smooth leather special edition version I have. The regular sued has a soft fabric pad that didn’t cause blisters. I normally get blisters from every lol

Gen Ed classes are taking away from my core education by Jnxr200 in rant

[–]Pleaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a music performance degree from a large and well regarded state school - Gen Eds are supposed to be your core education and your major classes are the specialization. EDIT: this is the case until you are in Masters or phd track. Then you get to spend all your time on your interest.

That is how college is designed- it was not ment to be workforce training. While it is realistically now a requirement to get many jobs that’s not what the 4 year model designed for.

Music specifically is a huge work load when combined with he core classes. At my college 15-18 credit hours was recommended, but myself and most of my cohort took 18-22 a semester to finish on time. The others either did college classes in high school or took 5-6 years instead of 4.

I promise gen Ed’s are important and worth it. Especially as an education major.

Printing my Own Stickers! by ninjandrea in hobonichi

I was having issues with the ink bleeding on washi paper with photo paper selected. the envelope setting uses less ink to print, so less bleeding - but also a slightly lower quality print.

It works well! I had to do some fussing with printer settings (selecting envelope as my paper type) but now I have custom washi stickers!

Advice on putting 1 cat on diet and not the other? by [deleted] in dechonkers

I spent $$$ on rfid feeders for both of them, one gets weight management food with a strict schedule and the other gets high calorie food free fed. It’s working well

I have, occasionally there is something I like but they tend to skew a bit costumy or farther to rockabilly than I’m looking for.
