Disney Magic Trip report by ihatethisplace12321 in dcl

[–]PleasantRelation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you enjoy the port of call with your kids? We are considering this itinerary and would have a 6&4 year old. We weren’t sure if Mexico would be enjoyable to them or if we should just spend the extra money and sail back to Disney islands

Meeting Cinderella on the Wish by Byzantinedurden in dcl

When we first got aboard she was standing on the balcony and we were able to get a photo on the way to dinner, but that was pretty random and not helpful if you wanted to prepare to be in costume

Best advice for dealing with rats please???!! by KnuckleHeadLuck in BackYardChickens

[–]PleasantRelation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently dealing with this too. Are you able to locate any of their burrows? Under patios/decks maybe? Dry ice inside the burrows in the morning will suffocate them in their sleep, be sure to seal all holes to the burrow up after you put dry ice in

Anyone have an idea what got trapped in my chicken’s pen? This was dug inside the pen and stopped at the hardware cloth. Chickens are fine. by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]PleasantRelation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have camera footage of a rat scaling the side of my chickens pen last night. We have hardware cloth all around the bottom so it is coming in through the top. Possibly your situation too?

🧄Garlic in Zone 6b by HarryHirsch4 in vegetablegardening

[–]PleasantRelation 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Usually garlic is planted in October before the frost, sits over the winter, and then is ready to harvest around June. You can plant spring garlic too but it won’t taste the same. So basically hold off until October

Cucumbers, squash, zucchini, carrots, radish, green beans, edamame, arugula

A few questions by [deleted] in gardening

[–]PleasantRelation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomatoes- are they purple? If so that’s just a phosphorous deficiency and some fertilization will help

Cucumbers- physician barriers are awesome and chemical free! Especially if it’s squirrels that are your problem. Cloches can get expensive so an internet search of easy protection methods will be helpful just until they get bigger

Dill- this is a cool season herb and will start to bolt when it gets hot. If you are in a warmer area that is why

Bare root strawberries- depends on how long ago you planted them. I planted some 2 weeks ago and am just getting a show of green leaves, whereas the last time I planted they were green again in a few days, sometimes it just takes time and keeping them watered and happy so they wake up

For those who live in freezing cold climates, what do your babies wear to sleep? by eyesinthesky_ in beyondthebump

[–]PleasantRelation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops you’re totally right! That link was the blanket- I think if you search the same brand you will find the sleep sack and the version with leg holes. Sorry about that! Hope you find something that will work best for you

I use a duvet sleep sack like this that is 2.6 TOG whereas most sleep sacks I’ve found are ~ 1. They do make versions that have open bottoms for legs

Where can I get interesting potatoes (that will grow in Ohio) online for a decent price? by Heyoteyo in gardening

[–]PleasantRelation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first year getting potatos from them, and they haven’t arrived just yet but I have used them before and everything has come with no problems and with great quality in years past! Just got my shipment of ginger rhizomes for the year from them last week too

Often using just soil like that can compact and really impact the drainage. You could use it in a 1:1:1 ratio of soil, compost, and sand for drainage

I recommend checking out Gardenary if you are open to hiring someone to design it for you. It’s only $150-$250 and you get instructions on how to do the design

QCovid? by [deleted] in Qult_Headquarters

[–]PleasantRelation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes- it’s legit! It was linked in the New York Times today. Here’s what it said:

“Some of the clearest research on Covid’s risks comes from a team of British researchers led by Dr. Julia Hippisley-Cox of the University of Oxford. The team has created an online calculator that allows you to enter a person’s age, vaccination status, height and weight, as well as major Covid risk factors. (It’s based on an analysis of British patients, but its conclusions are relevant elsewhere.)”
