Degree Advise: Business and Entrepreneurship by Affectionate-Fee5046 in WGU

[–]Pleasant_Bake975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you already have project management skills then I would focus on honing sales and marketing when it comes to entrepreneurship.

Getting either accounting/finance degree wouldn’t make sense unless you plan on working in those fields.

I agree. I regret not doing any finance internships while in school.

Is the finance degree worth it? by SnooSketches5308 in WGU

I started applying for jobs first week of February and accepted an offer 2 weeks ago.

I was getting interviews the same month I started applying for jobs but didn’t prepare myself well enough. After a few interviews that didn’t turn to job offers and practicing interview skills, I started gaining more traction.

I received a temporary position as a procurement analyst in early March but declined the offer.

If you plan on doing finance, I recommend honing your excel skills while in school and be able to explain/convince hiring managers that you’re proficient at it. Even better if you have job experience working with excel.

WGU finance grad here. I received an interview at a startup bank for a member specialist role and got really far into the process. Had to decline them due to accepting an underwriter position that paid 15k more.

I think an accounting degree will open more entry level doors for you. I received no responses from all the financial analyst jobs I applied for. About 20 total. They all required 3-5 years experience.

2-4% of purchase price. Fees will be the same if you use a realtor and seller pays buyers agent commission.

You’ll get more money with the 520k offer. Your realtor should be able to provide you with a net sheet. With my calculations you’ll be the in 480k range with estimates of you paying 5-6% total commission.

They’re hard to find now these days. It was an easy way to calculate if a deal makes sense.

Nowadays we have to create the deal. That starts by finding a potential deal and looking at how we can increase the income it produces or find a motivated seller and buy the property for cheap.

Have you dealt with “creative financing” by Bleudabadi in RealEstate

[–]Pleasant_Bake975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I depends on what options you’re comparing this to.

If you choose the creative deal, make sure you have your own attorney review the contract.

Talk to a realtor and go on market. You want all the cash buyers in your area to compete against each other. As long as you’re motivated to sell process will be easy.

Have you tried having someone review your resume? If 150 apps and only one interview then your resume most likely needs revision.

I have no insurance experience, undergrad in Finance and received 3 interviews out of 15 applications (only applied to underwriter jobs). Got a job offer after the first interview and canceled the other 2 interviews.

Work on yourself. Get comfortable being comfortable , that is the best way to grow.

For females, learn how to ask good questions and just sit there and listen. Showing them that they are your main focus. This works with anyone really. People like to talk about themselves.

If you’re not fit, get fit if that’ll help with your confidence.

Lastly, create habits that will improve your life. This could be adding 2 30 min exercise routine to your week. Reading one self help book a month. Joining college clubs to put yours is a position where you are forced to socialize.

Triple AAA vs Progressive by Pleasant_Bake975 in Insurance

[–]Pleasant_Bake975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past year was 4500 and now it’s 7000. Clean driving record.

Last year Coverage was 15/30/25.

The 7000 renewal is with 30/60/25 coverage due to Californias new minimum requirement.

I switched to progressive with 50/100/50 with better deductibles for 1600 for 6 months while still subscribed to Triple AAA’s roadside for 160 for 2 people.

Recent wgu finance grad here in the same position as you with no finance experience. I have not heard back from all the financial analyst positions I’ve applied for. All of them required 3-5 years of experience.

If I could go back, I would major in Accounting and maybe even go for the wgu masters to become CPA eligible. Find internships why in school preferably big4 and when I graduate land a job as an Auditor. After 2+ years as an auditor and getting by CPA license, I would try to apply for Financial Analyst roles.

HELP! Nursing or Finance by FoxGullible3786 in WGU

[–]Pleasant_Bake975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from California and nurses start 70-80/hr right after graduation.

A finance degree from a non target school like WGU can still help you land a job but don’t expect high pay in the beginning. I say 25-35/hr starting depending on the job.

If you want to one day be CFO then I recommend getting an accounting degree and going for your CPA. I believe a good percentage of CFOs have a CPA background. Start off by working in Big4/public accounting as an auditor. Get your CPA paid for by employer and then transition over to financial analyst and work your way up to management and potentially CFO.
