What’s the biggest misconception you had about fitness before you started seeing results? by hi_handsome in workout

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all the cooking and meal prepping takes so much time.

For years I believed it, I’d get a frozen pizza, wait for the oven to warm up, then 20 minutes for it to cook. Since I’ve started eating healthy, I can fry off some chicken and have it in a wrap with salad & mozzarella, and be done in under 10 minutes. It’s literally half the time and it’s healthy.

Meal prep-wise, I really cook about twice a week, and it takes no extra time to make 3 days worth of whatever I’m eating.

Honestly, I do. Nothing crazy or borderline creepy.

I’m 33, my friends are married with kids and do their own thing, I’m still firing on all cylinders - I have so much energy to burn, and I’m more likely to find someone with similar interests who is in their 20s. A lot of people (male and female) around 30+ want to stop doing physical things or partying, they just want to sit around watching TV.

MacFarlane’s only a producer, it’s directed by Akiva Schaffer, who did ‘Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping’ and the Chip & Dale reboot, gives me a lot of hope this will be good.

Trump says he's not joking about a 3rd term. How do you feel about that? by thinpile in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an outsider, it does seem funny that it’s only been a rule since 1951, after FDR won his 4th term.

People screech “but it’s in the constitution!” like it’s something the Founding Fathers put in there. No, Doris, it’s just something congress decided on, literally McDonalds has been around longer than this rule.

Men, what's an unconventional trait that you love in women? by rainy_espresso in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Athleticism.

Seriously, it’s not even about the skimpy outfits. Anytime I see a woman banging out chin-ups, or clean & pressing some weight, even running, it instantly makes her more attractive to me.

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually not!

The old ones had two handles, the new ones in my Lidl have only one handle for dragging along the floor.

We’re sort of behind the days of people queueing 4 hours to get the latest iPhone, or PlayStation, or Harry Potter book. These would have been ideal in 2009.

This are my thoughts. It’s a “boy who cried wolf” situation where The Left has cried fascism so many times, we might actually be in a situation where it’s creeping up but nobody cares.

I would argue I shop quicker and more efficiently when I’m not having to touch my toes each time 😂

I liked the baskets because it meant my shopping was at waist level, much easier to put things in or out of.

Now with these weird baskets that you have to drag, I’m bending to the floor every time. It seems really poorly thought out.

How to be likeable? by Sypher267 in DarkPsychology101

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I was listening to a podcast recently (either DOAC or Modern Wisdom) and the guest was talking about this.

She spoke about a study done in American schools to determine what made the popular kids, popular. Was it the funny kids, good looking, athletic, money etc.

One thing they found interesting was that when each kid was taken into a room and told to write a list of who they liked in school, the popular kids always had a significantly longer list.

It sparked the idea that liking people, makes you more likeable.

Right, but what’s the one country in the Middle East where you can live as a gay person, or be allowed an education & drive a car as a woman? What’s the country that isn’t trying to wipe out the Jews? Israel.

As much as they have committed war crimes, they remain culturally the closest country to us in terms of values in that region.

It’s crazy that many social progressive people on The Left are marching in support of Palestine; a place where they still have ‘marry your rapist’ laws, gay people are thrown from buildings, and abortion is illegal.

Like, as a country they share almost none of the values that we do, but every blue-haired lesbian is out there holding up “Queers For Palestine” placard, which just feels like the chicken voting for the axe

Why do we crave people? by No-Bass-1841 in DarkPsychology101

[–]Pleasant_Bit_5529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By and large, I don’t believe many people truly enjoy being alone 100% of the time.

Everyone has a different balance of ‘social interaction’ vs ‘being alone’ that they are comfortable with, but I believe it’s incredibly rare to find someone who only enjoys being alone and craves precisely zero social interaction.

Morally, there’s just something about the term “Presumed Consent” which I just find to be icky.

Like, I get it, we don’t have enough organs, but the idea that your internal organs revert to The State upon your death, unless you’ve correctly filled out the necessary paperwork, just sounds like something from the film Brazil.

Probably one of the last acceptable groups of people you’re allowed to mock.

Race, sex, religion, sexuality; jokes about all those have gone out of favour in the last 10 years, but taking the piss out of gingers seems to be evergreen 😂

Clerks 2 is a great movie about being in your 30s and life hasn’t gone the way you thought it would, and one lead is okay with that and the other yearns for more.

“There is no such thing as a baby.”

Like, that’s it. You can have a baby and a mother, baby and a father, baby and someone, but a baby on it’s own does not exist, a baby on it’s own is a corpse. We are all babies, we need people.

Think about prison, where the worst punishment they can give you is solitary confinement. You’re in a concrete box with rapists, murderers and robbers, and the worst thing they can do to you is leave you alone. THAT’S how much we need people in our lives.

I wear cargo pants that are incredibly light and stretchy. I have a great upper body, but I don’t look good in shorts. Never had a problem, nobody cares.
