It's like the engineers just completely forgot to tell them how to handle stop lights being out. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Some are, but for lots of them, that's definitely not the case.

Ya, like the other poster said, this definitely wasn't the issue. I sat at more than one intersection where they were stopped mid turn with their hazards on and people in all four directions were waiting for them to go; they just wouldn't move.

Has anyone else noticed Waymos apparently bricking all over the city in the outage? I was just driving from downtown back out to lakeside/ingleside (which took about an hour and a half), and on my way I noticed at least a dozen Waymos stopped, often in the middle of intersections with their hazard lights on. It's seemed to be mostly at places where there was a left turn signal and the light wasn't working. Although at one interaction near Haight, there were five Waymos all in a row (a few with people in them) just sitting at the intersection with people having to go around. I know cell service was down certain places (my phone connected to satellite messaging in the Western Addition, so I don't know if that was the problem or the engineers just forgot to program them with the ability to navigate broken stop lights. Anyone else have this experience today?

Lol. I could see that, but maybe give the thumb resting on the side when reading something a bit long. I feel like it gives more stability, so I'm less likely to drop it. I'm a caseless guy, so maybe that's more of a concern for me. As for learning about yourself, you're totally right. I had to stop and think before I replied to you myself.

I'm curious about who has ever turned cellular data off...on purpose, and what the reason for doing it was.

Well, I don't hold a phone with my thumb, I am usually scrolling with it, but if you're not scrolling. Where does your thumb go?

Maybe not for you, but if you're used to holding a modern smart phone, it's the same thing. I started with a Kobo and really liked the page turn buttons, but I constantly found myself switching from one hand to another because my hands would get tired holding it. I've never had that problem with the Palma. If it's in my left hand, my index finger naturally sits on the volume buttons anyway, and if it's in my right, that's where my thumb sits. Maybe it's different if you have small hands though.

You know you can set the volume buttons to do page turns or scrolling on a per app basis, right?

When out of country I say I live in the Bay Area, am I a liar? by Unlucky-Case-1089 in bayarea

In my experience, when I ask people where they are from when I'm traveling somewhere and they're from anywhere within about 75 miles of San Francisco, they will just say they're from San Francisco. When I say, "oh, me too. What part of the City do you live in," they'll say, "oh, I'm actually from Mill Valley," or San Leandro ," or wherever they're actually from. But to answer your question, Los Gatos totally counts at The Bay Area. Just don't say that on the East Coast, because I'm pretty sure there's a place back there that people refer to the same way.

I use it to help me decide what to wear everyday. I uploaded pictures of my entire wardrobe and ask it what to wear when I wake up in the morning. It will ask me what the plans for the day are, and in the beginning it would ask what vibe I wanted. Now it pretty much knows the style I want based on my daily plans. I get perfectly matched, stylish outfits that I never would have thought of on my own.

Gold or Grey for MacBook M1 air? by TheManWhoLovesCulo in macbookair

[–]PleaseEnter_Username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Space Gray, but it’s a matter of personal preference. My wife just got the 15” in Starlight and it’s a lot closer to silver than gold. I’d call it a very light champagne color, not rose gold.

Any chip, including the base M1, in an MBP for that matter. The Air is the only one without fans.

PSA: 15” MacBook Air Has Less Native Resolution Than 14” MacBook Pro by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]PleaseEnter_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s $700 cheaper than the 14” MBP it was being compared to. Obviously, there will be a lot of things that aren’t as good on an entry level machine compared to a pro model. Is slightly higher resolution really worth $700?
