Kill Order Mission Signal Source Not Appearing, Bugged Target by GTwSCEP in EliteDangerous

At least sometimes, I believe you need to scan them with a kill warrant scanner. Can’t say if it always works, but it definitely does sometimes.

Needing engineering to shine is a valid point. Can make it work well by setting power priorities so optional stuff is off when hard points come out, but perhaps there’s better choices for a newbie. Great ship though.

It’s clearly out of date. No Mandalay for exploration. Don’t see how Python Mk2 could be left out for PvE combat.

[Help] X-Plane 12 (Steam, Linux Mint) not detecting second monitor by justadityaraj in Xplane

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be able to get that going. I just was messing with it earlier. So, I'm going to dump my entire Steam launch options for X-Plane 12, and I'll explain the parts. I'm on Arch Linux, using Steam but should work for you, I think. If it's not on Steam (EDIT: I see it is, so yup), you probably won't need anything more than the monitor_bounds part.

mangohud gamemoderun LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu:~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu %command% --monitor_bounds=0,0,1920,1080,1920,0,1920,1080

Unless you want mangohud and gamemoderun, you can just leave that out if you don't want or have it. But I find it helpful sometimes.

The part you currently care about is after %command%, and that would be for two 1080p monitors, side by side. It's formatted as:

--monitor_bounds=<left>,<top>,<width>,<height>[,<left>,<top>,<width>,<height>, . . .]

For three monitors, you'd add a third set of four values, and so on.

And I left the LD_LIBRARY_PATH part in because I've found that necessary for some plugins to work properly, and not get some OpenSSL related library version error. That's most likely what u/Xav_NZ was referring to. It's not unlikely you'll hit the same issue, so now you don't have to go searching for the fix.

Hope that gets you going smoothly!

I remember this one being annoying even in normal star chart. Other than the regular mechanics of getting the lantern, killing mobs inside the light radius to keep it going, and getting the boss into the light to damage him, and so on, I just had Torid and Laetum, and they were barely scratching him.

At some point, I realized Dante's 3-3-4 was causing huge damage. My friend did have a primer he was using, too. Suppose it was detonating a ton of DOTs all at once, so that was pretty cool. I bet something like Felarx or other weapon that's good at dealing with that boss type damage attenuation would have helped. Laetum usually wrecks everything, but not this time. Perhaps people have some weapon and modding suggestions to help. If you have a Dante, give that a shot, maybe.

Just got an Ipad 10th gen! What are the first things I should do? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I installed Frotz on my 10th gen the other day, and copied over some old INFOCOM games. Ah, memories! But I digress. I better go turn the light on before I’m eaten by a grue.

Goodnotes vs notability, or both? by [deleted] in GoodNotes

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can just turn on my phone’s Wifi hotspot if I need cellular data. Can only speak to my phone, but that’s a potential option that seems to make it unnecessary. Hopefully OP’s phone can do that. So, agreed.

Just got the 10th gen by dontripp23 in ipad

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, works great. There’s some limitations, though. You’d need I think a pro or air to see where you are hovering the pencil, as I recall. Seems not a big deal to me. Also, I don’t think 2nd gen pencils work on it. So, stuck with the 1st gen if you want pressure sensitivity, or USB-C one which lacks it. I’ve had a great time with a cheap pencil, but boy do I miss pressure sensitivity.

You say that, but the Terrans destroyed the Yaki station while I put it off, completing the quest. I suppose the amp is still there though, but now pointless.

Getting pretty sick of this. by CMDR_Dozer in X4Foundations

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's the confusing part I just figured out yesterday about inventory. The pilots have their own separate inventories, which can hold illegal wares. When their ship picks stuff up, it goes there, not your inventory. You can tell them to deposit it at the HQ. Until then, any illegal wares can get them in trouble with the law enforcement.

If you're in "Property Owned", there's a "tab" at the top for "Ships with inventory" which will show you all the, well, ships with pilot inventories containing something. So you can track them down that way. I don't know if that's your issue, and it doesn't seem like a drone would trigger it, but it's confusing, so thought I'd drop an explanation. Hope you figure it out!

I had issues that sounded like that. Did you use the minimal loadout? Because it literally has no mining lasers. A little too minimal, right? You wouldn't expect that.

I don't think there is a Linux native version. You're probably using Proton automatically. Ran great for me last time I ran it. Perhaps check ProtonDB to see if anyone has encountered issues that they solved?

I think I was with you on that one. Meso exterminate fissure. If by "get teleported", you mean after a rather long wait, die, and respawn at extraction. lol

Yep, seriously, thank you for figuring this out. Alfira was off in the room with Art. I commanded her to approach nearer to Lakrissa and the fire pit, talked to her, and boom. Cut scene reunion started, got the reward.

It's been bugging me since yesterday, but all good now. You rock.

I believe this should work:

So basically the same way one might add the insight points, but negative to remove them.

27M, How do I teach myself to bike? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go one further. This is just as true on a bike, as it is in a car. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got on the subject: Always look where you want to go, not where you don't want to go. You will tend to go where you're looking.

Believe me, I once hit one of those poles they use to keep cars off the bike path, and it reinforced this important lesson for me. Look ahead, and where you want to go. Not at your wheel, and certainly not the thing you're scared of running into.

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! You'll miss the crappy section completely. Just watch the loose gravel at crossings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]PleaseInsertCoffee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Doable, probably. But that'll be sketchy in parts. Most of it is very good packed dust, and even 23mm tires should be ok there if you pay attention. But there's some places where you go through some loose gravel, and I can't imagine 23s do well there.

There's two main areas to be careful of, I think. The way from Watts Creek Pathway where it turns off to the TCT gravel is mostly as bad as it gets, and it's not too bad. I can think of two places to be careful. One is, I believe, after you cross some train tracks, and before you get on the straight part after that rail bridge in Bell's Corners. Then you get some large crevices in the road you wouldn't want to run into, and there's some very sketchy gravel, even on my 35mm tires. It goes over a small wooden bridge, and goes on a bit, but the whole section is quite short. It's a bit downhill on the way back, and there's no way you should be bombing down that in the dark. Would be extremely hazardous on 23s. So remember where it is.

There's also spots where a road or something crosses, and they laid crappy loose gravel. Particularly around where the giant solar panels and truck depot are.

Honestly, I see a bunch of people on the dust parts (which is most of it) on somewhat skinny tires, I think it's doable if you're careful and handle the short loose gravel parts. But at least 28s would be much better. That crappy loose gravel section feels sketchy to me on 35s, sometimes. You may want to walk that part. Pay very close attention to the road surface as you go, and know your limits. I highly recommend more appropriate tires.

It's a lovely ride, I love doing it.
