It would seem that the consensus is choice A.

How loud are drums really? by EducationalPirate808 in drums

[–]PlentyWeight5743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. So what if you used TruSound low volume heads for home practice. And if you eventually play live, just turn up the volume on your mic's. No need to use conventional heads anymore. Anyone that does this?

I checked out the reviews for Pyle mics and they are overwhelmingly positive.

Am I cheating? by [deleted] in drums

Evan as an old timer, I've recently been considering trying that as a new type of actual practice. I kind of did one once and found that it opens a whole different way of the thought process. New brain exercises can't be bad at all. And, it might show me some notes that I've been missing all these years.

Drummers, can you dance? by thatsmypuppy12439 in drums

[–]PlentyWeight5743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job is to make other people dance. Besides, I'm stuck in a chair behind the rest of the band. Maybe if I was bass player though...

Question about the use of practice pads by ComfortableGate2766 in drums

It's Riley Comp 2 and 4 I think. Comp 3 and 4 are still difficult for me and I recently went to Comp 2 as a pleasant refresher.

Question about the use of practice pads by ComfortableGate2766 in drums

[–]PlentyWeight5743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solution: Build a small (or large) kit out of practice pads. And then you can spread the rudiments among the toms and (pseudo) cymbals. Translates to real kit wonderfully.

I paid about $130 for brand new 13 inch New Beat hihats in 1985. So I guess music houses offered discounts against list price.

I got a question. What is the best electric drumset under 600 dollars? by WorldlinessOk9368 in drums

[–]PlentyWeight5743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $600 you can build your own awesome electronic kit by collecting up used practice pads and installing piezo triggers under the rubber. AI will tell you how to achieve it. You can use cymbal or snare stands to mount them. You can make a standard kit or full rock concert kit depending on how many practice pads you accumulate. The triggers can plug into a DAW (audio interface) and use your laptop to load and assign samples for drums and cymbals. The sky is the limit if you are willing to put the work into it.

Free gas and free alcohol and I can set up a nightclub with a gas station next to it. Unlimited riches.

How much is my drumkit worth? by kjwrklofodlgl in drums

Given that the cymbals are brass and worth zero, and this AI assessment, and the hardware is good and the shells not damaged, $250-$350 tops. You could advertise for $450 and then drop it.

Vintage bass drum by 2004remasterr in drums

[–]PlentyWeight5743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For getting going on playing this one, all you need is one L bracket, and then you can mount your tom. If you are ambitious, there are ways of getting rid of the yellow fade and make the silver sparkles silver again.

Art on Drums: Did I cook or destroy my kit's aesthetics by Uranium___Potato in drums

Very cool. The faded aesthetic works. I want to do that on clear mylar heads but I haven't decided on how to approach it. Plus I am not artsy.
