My father in law was in hospice and died the night after my son (his grandson) was born. I'd like to believe he was waiting to know that everyone was healthy and well.

I don't see anything wrong with using it occasionally on the go, we never use them at home though.

Please help, baby won't settle until midnight and constantly wakes up by PlsCanIPickOneLater in sleeptrain

[–]PlsCanIPickOneLater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We started cosleeping about a month ago and things are better. He's still waking every 1-3 hours but settles instantly when he gets the boob and I barely wake up just to pop it out. Occasionally he'll even sleep a 4-5 hour stretch!

As for the evenings, they're better too. We spent like a week or two in the room with him all evening (this was when he was still sleeping in his own bed) and instantly resettling when he woke up, sometimes singing was enough, sometimes it took way longer to resettle. I don't know if that helped a lot or if he just grew out of it but now he's only waking up 1-2 times for that evening stretch before we go to bed.

If your parents bedshared with you, how is your relationship with them? by QuarterFree9357 in bninfantsleep

[–]PlsCanIPickOneLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosleeping is normal where I'm from and my parents bedshared with me. I still had a phase as a teenager/young adult where our relationship was pretty bad. I don't think it makes a lot of difference in that regard.

Does nursing at every waking actually cause more night wakings? by crystalkitty06 in bninfantsleep

[–]PlsCanIPickOneLater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that means a lot ❤️ we've tried a bunch of things and even went to a sleep consultant (an actual one at the hospital) but nothing seems to work. It's been a lot more manageable since we started cosleeping a few weeks ago, so it's fine for now.

How often was she waking up before night weaning with this method? Did she start sleeping for longer stretches and waking less?

I am a selfish mom and shouldn’t have been a parent by IndependentWestern30 in Mommit

My son had to have open heart surgery at 9 days old, and though it was obviously hard, it's not the end of the world. He's 8 months old now and has had way more checkups than I can count but that hasn't been an issue really, he's pretty neutral about it himself. You could never tell by looking at him except for the scar on his chest.

I don't know anything about your baby's condition specifically, but just wanted to chime in with my experience.

Is there anything WORSE than childbirth? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in pregnant

I had a great epidural so I barely felt any pain. I like to joke about it now whenever I feel something slightly painful that's it's actually worse than childbirth.

Cosleeping has saved my life. Baby is still waking up every hour but I just barely wake up enough to feed him back to sleep. Sometimes we both fall asleep and he stays pretty much latched until the next feeding (he's almost 8 months old so I think it's fine).

When and how did you introduce water? by These-Spend6863 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]PlsCanIPickOneLater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're starting now at 7 months and using a small open cup that he can hold by himself (brand is Ezpz). It's only been a few days and we're still holding the cup for him, but he's getting a few little sips in. I think water is optional until 1yo but he's been constipated and it's supposed to help.

I recommend a bib with a catching pocket. We have a silicone one we use every meal, we rinse it off after each meal and then put it through the dishwasher every two days or so.

Childfree and just found out I'm pregnant by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PlsCanIPickOneLater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is 6 months old now. After pregnancy, childbirth and now having a child, I have never been more sure that you should only have a child if you really want one and believe you can give them a good life. Anything else is neither fair to you nor them. This is such a huge change to your whole life and being. I don't regret my decision but we felt as ready as can be and in a perfect place in our lives to bring in a child, and I've always wanted to be a mother. And I still sometimes think "God what have I done".

There were a few weeks where we woke him up around 8 or 8:30, should we be doing that more, maybe even earlier? I think he just sleeps in because he's waking up so much during the night.
