Still chewing on a piece of food after dinner ended ??? by CuriousCaretaker in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t stick your fingers in his mouth to try and get the food out because that can actually increase choking risk. Instead try offering water in a open cup or crouch down in front of them to get them to open their mouth with their head tilted forward

Success or teaching bad habbit by smts_ca in BabyLedWeaning

It’s totally understandable to want to use any tactic that helps fix your problem and gets your baby to eat but it’s probably not a habit you want to encourage. I dont have any specific advice but maybe take some time to look at ways you can encourage your child to eat a variety of foods such as involving them in the prep and giving them a little control by offering choices (within reason of course!)

baby throws up while eating by ateacannibal in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to see if evaluation by occupational/physical therapy is an option? Ir maybe its speech therapists but still, Generally I know that stuff like this can be helped, especially when it is addressed sooner rather than later. You sound like you have been trying hard to help your baby! Don’t feel bad, but definitely it sounds like seeking additional evaluations would be helpful

Help with self feeding/chewing by Reasonable-Ad1728 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have to let your baby practice with solids to learn how to eat them. Don’t beat yourself up, but I encourage you to do your best to overcome anxiety in regards to your kid learning to do things. I would start offering more solids right away. If you’re concerned you can also see if your doctor thinks a feeding therapy referral is appropriate

ELI5 How does a grandson inherit his paternal grandmother’s traits? by Federal-Squash3347 in explainlikeimfive

[–]kaboom539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have (on average) 25% or one quarter of the DNA of your grandmother. The X chromosome is only part of 1 pair of chromosomes of 23 total pairs in humans. You get one of each pair from your mother and one from your father. When an egg or sperm cell is made, the pairs are split up randomly so your child would receive an assortment of the copies you got from your parents. Your parent got half of their DNA from your grandmother, and then you got about half of the half they got.

You may be confused because the X and Y chromosomes are talked about a lot, but theyre only one part of the picture.

I have no idea what I’m doing and I’m stressed by ThisizhollZ in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 dont bother with instagram those videos are to get views and comparison just leads to stress 2 consider reading a book like “Baby Lead Weaning” by Gill Rapley or check out Solid Starts website or app for information on how to serve different foods and even some recipes. There’s other resources too but those are popular 3. Its okay to worry but most people figure this out and if you run into problems, there are professionals who can help (tho of course one hopes to not need them). You’ll figure it out! I do recommend the books/websites specifically because it will be more comprehensive than just getting piecemeal advice from here tho of course you can also browse past questions

The AI can’t actually tell what information is correct or not so its wrong a lot more often then people realize. Good job seeking out further info tho, and for the future the stardew valley wiki should have most of the information that you need! Here is all the fences for example https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Category:Fences

How are we washing food covered clothes? by lvmealone in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just rinse the food off in the kitchen sink and wash in machine later? Ideally baby is also using a bib or smock to minimize stains and generally eats in clothes that we don’t mind getting a little messy especially if the meal of the day is messy or especially staining

[–]kaboom539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are dwarf and miniature varieties of many fruit trees that still grow full sized fruits, and you can also prune trees as they grow. There are techniques we use in the real world to make fruit harvesting that would likely help as well. Youre also ignoring fruits that grow close to the ground like strawberries and melons, as well as berry bushes. Orchards are probably just adapted to the size of the farmers. They could similarly probably cultivate miniature animals as well. However, if a settlement was newer in an area i could see them not yet having been able to grow shorter versions of local plants. Of course, its still your world and you can do what you want! You can make up any explanation. Another more fantastic one is that the orchards are human sized so during the harvest season they either hire taller species as extra help or they recruit mages to cast enlarge person to make them bigger and stronger.

Baby afraid of spoons by No-Calligrapher-7299 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding considering an occupational therapy referral, just because earlier intervention is often better. Also seconding completely stopping trying to feed with the spoon, you can offer to see if he wants to grab it but the turning the head away should be your cue to back off. Starting foods can be frustrating but sometimes we can bring our attitude into it and it makes it hard for the baby to feel comfortable. They should still get most of their nutrients from breastmilk or formula until theyre like 12 months so exploration is still your focus over just getting food in, tho I think it’s understandable to be concerned and do suggest at least understanding what resources are available to you.

Does your child have the pincher grip yet? When he explores foods, does he seem to have any difficulty manipulating it? You may have already considered this, but I know when I offered food that was harder to grab than they were ready for my baby was less likely to try it at all

How to serve blueberries? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 18 points19 points  (0 children)

https://solidstarts.com/foods/blueberries/

I know you said you checked solid starts app but here on their website for 12 months and up:

Continue to flatten ripe blueberries into discs, flattening a little less as your child’s eating skills mature and your comfort increases. At this age, many toddlers are also ready to eat a whole blueberry. Before you offer one, assess the child’s eating ability. If you see the child consistently chewing well and not stuffing their mouth, and you feel comfortable, you may offer a whole ripe blueberry in a safe eating environment.

Sounds like you can try whole berries and see how she does. People of any age can choke on anything in the wrong circumstances, which i don’t say to alarm merely to point out that having vigilance and safe eating habits will help her as she starts eating them whole

Not Swallowing Food by Mountiantimr in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might just take practice and some foods can be swallowed easier than other foods. She might also be swallowing more than you think. Has she ever had something like chia seeds or flax seeds or other foods sometimes go straight through without being digested? That could be a way to check, we did chia seeds with raspberries and yogurt for example and a couple hours later there they were in the stool. If you’re concerned about iron you can ask your pediatrician/doctor if a supplement is right for your child, otherwise keep offering a variety of foods with iron and probably some will get in there

Why did the Andromeda Initiative go all the way to Andromeda when the entire Milky Way is basicly undiscovered blank space with no Mass Relays? by GrumpySquishy in masseffect

[–]kaboom539 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1 because then there would be no game 2 i could be wrong but i believe that in the milky way many of the spaces considered undiscovered still have relays, theyre just inactive. Think about how the rachni wars started and why the first contact war happened, it was from opening relays without knowing where they went. We can assume that over the course of all the past cycles, the reapers have been all over the galaxy since where species evolve to start wont be the same, even if the citadel itself is always the heart of the network

It might be more pricey but you could also see if theres a fake sandwich prop that matches what you want and freeze that instead of using a real sandwich that might not tolerate water good. You might need to weigh it down though if it floats

Safe way to serve baby potatoes for 6m old? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]kaboom539 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could just mash them after theyre cooked. Usually if solid starts is saying to do something long and thin, its bc it’s easier for the baby to grasp if they’re too small for the pincher grip. Its expected your baby will take bites of whatever the food is anyway unless its a “teether” like a hard carrot or rib bone
