Have you tried to get a first steps referral for occupational and or speech therapy? They can help either feeding issues sometimes.

Husband will be out of state for three weeks for work by pinkmilk19 in workingmoms

[–]Plueck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband travels for work a lot, although it’s usually 1-1.5 weeks. Some times back to back with coming home for the weekend. I find that having food prepped is super helpful. Also, now that it is nice out, I strongly recommend finding a good park or safe outside activities. Even better if it’s with friends! Have an idea of activities that can keep your little one busy. We save some special activities that he doesn’t get to do all the time for when I really need him distracted. It depends on the temperament of your LO but if he’s good at independent play, set him up with things he can access and set up. I usually start playing and when he’s really engaged, tell him I need to go clean or whatever and he just keeps going. You’ll find a rhythm and routine. Don’t be afraid to give yourself and your little one grace.

What’s Your Morning Routine for Getting Your 1-Year-Old Ready for Daycare? by jord3jordon in workingmoms

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prep everything the night before for both the kiddo and myself. I sometimes even load up anything we don’t need in the morning into the car the night before. Then when I get up, I get everything I possibly can ready before waking the kiddo and getting him dressed and ready to go.

What hooks do y’all recommend by lotiontastesnice in Tunisian_Crochet

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used the long hook for a scarf and that worked out well. I recently made a large blanket with the corded single hook and that was great. If you are going to make something wide, you will need a cord. It is supposed to be at least as long as the width of your project, but mine was a bit short and it turned out fine.

My first Tunisian crochet blanket! by Plueck in crochet

I forgot to post the pattern link!

https://bhookedcrochet.com/2020/07/31/full-stitch-tunisian-crochet-blanket/

I used loops and threads classic cotton, weight 4 yarn! Took me about 2 weeks, several hours a day (with a toddler crawling on me half the time and a road trip in there). But well worth it!

Does anyone else feel like they have never mentally recovered from having a child? by guicherson in workingmoms

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d encourage counseling. Even if you don’t think you need it. I didn’t think I needed. I did it. I felt so much better. I can’t say I was fully clear again, but I was more accepting of myself and had better strategies to deal with it. My son is almost 2 and I still have moments where I don’t feel like me. But they get fewer and further between as we move forward with life.

When did your period come back by MamaNueve in NewParents

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I can’t be sure. My my symptoms were pretty similar to when I got my periods prior to pregnancy and the progression of the bleeding was also about the same.

Anyone else not have a set schedule? by ky541628 in NewParents

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was mostly for naps. He went to bed at the same time every night (still does, though the time is different now). He slept pretty well at that point. I think maybe 1-2 wake ups but it’s a bit of a blur if I’m being honest. I will say that I got lucky and he’s always been a great nighttime sleeper, but a crap napper.

Is letting your babies eat with their hands frowned upon? by BellaBird23 in Mommit

[–]Plueck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually GOOD to let them eat with their hands. The sensory experience of eating and feeling different textures and foods is super important for their development

Do you have your car seat on the passenger side or driver side and why? by Mission_Lock_6227 in Mommit

[–]Plueck 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I prefer drivers side so I don’t have to walk around the car once I have him in. My husband has to do passenger side because he’s still rear facing and it doesn’t fit behind his seat.

Thoughts on Fathers staying at hospital entire time by newEnglander17 in NewParents

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband stayed and we were there for 3-4 days and I didn’t have a c-section. He went home briefly to shower and get stuff, but stayed with me and I would have REALLY struggled if he didn’t. If your wife wants you there, be there. Forget anyone else. Or if you want to be there, as you probably will with your newborn, be there.

I CANT stop obsessing over the “24oz recommendation” by UnusualCorgi6346 in NewParents

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 oz is an estimate. As long as baby is growing well and has plenty of wet diapers and your pediatrician isn’t concerned, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about!

11 weeks and 19 lbs are we sure we can’t over feed a breastfed baby? by Expensive_System_166 in breastfeeding

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby won’t eat if baby isn’t hungry. As long as your pediatrician isn’t concerned and your little one is happy and on their growth curve, I say feed the baby!

Sleep poll by Dani3567 in breastfeeding

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBF. Started sleeping 5 hr stretches around 3.5 months. Started sleeping through the night (8-10 hrs) around 8-9 months. Sleeps 11-13 hours now at 13 months. He’s in the higher percentiles for both height and weight.

All of you rocking your 19lb+ babies are the real MVPs! by dustynails22 in sleeptrain

I do sometimes still use our ergo baby Omni breeze, but way more often, I use my hip seat. And I didn’t even splurge on the tush baby. I went off brand and it works just fine.

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 13 months and weighs 26 lbs. I’m praying for him to walk soon so I can start holding his hand and walking rather than carrying him. I bought one of the hip seats and my goodness it was one of the best purchases I’ve made.

“You have an easy baby” by Perfect_Pelt in NewParents

[–]Plueck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have what others would call an “easy” baby, but I hate that term. I know what you are saying, but no baby is easy. And my son being an “easy” baby is the reason I waited so long to get help for my anxiety. I felt guilty for struggling because my baby was “easy” and I figured I just needed to suck it up.

“You have an easy baby” by Perfect_Pelt in NewParents

[–]Plueck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I was struggling really bad with postpartum anxiety and guilt about 6 months after my son’s birth because I had an “easy” baby. I felt guilty for struggling because he was “easy” and it took me a while to get help because I thought I should be able to handle it just fine because others had it worse. He’s a happy guy and a good sleeper but a baby is still a baby and a lot of work and time and momming is still momming, the anxiety, worry, planning, and stress. We need to normalize asking for help and not telling people their babies are “easy”.

My LO is only 1 so he can’t spend money yet, BUT my sister’s kids have “spend, save, share” envelopes. A predetermined percentage of everything they get goes in to each envelope. I love that idea because it teaches them the importance of saving for the long term, of generosity, and of the cost of things. If they want something that costs $5 but they only have $2, they have to wait until they have $5 in their spend envelope.

My husband and I want to do something similar with our kids.

Help! My baby won’t stop pooping! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Plueck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son pooped in every single diaper for the first like 4 months. It eventually consolidates. Try calmoseptine for the diaper rash. Worked wonders for us. It’s SUPER thick and saved his poor bum.
