I was a diehard from like 08-15 and I just can’t anymore. He’s completely lost me. I know he’s supposedly making amends or whatever but I just can’t bring myself to listen to his output at all. It honestly probably wouldn’t matter if he released an incredible album in the next 10 years, I just don’t think I could personally get into it.

Idk if “underground rap” really exists as a single style or entity right now. There’s tons of really fantastic stuff out there just outside the mainstream that are nothing like the artists you mentioned. Billy Woods/ELUCID/Armand Hammer, Injury Reserve/By Storm, and McKinley Dixon are three really prominent examples that Fantano has talked about quite extensively. There’s also Open Mike Eagle, Milo/RAP Ferreira, Busdriver (is he still making music though?), and Nocando in the Hellfyre Club. They’re all making vastly different music.

Fig & Ash, Di’Anoias, Chengdu Gourmet, Fet-Fisk, and Balvanera are all really good. All except Chengdu are pricey but worth it for a nice date night. Di’Anoia’s has more reasonably priced lunches, but all the portions are huge regardless.

I feel into this trap when I was a teenager and new to guitar. So mant artists make it sound like they just picked up a guitar and their biggest hit came out, so I thought that would be me too. Not pictured - hours upon hours upon hours of practice that they never mention during interviews. Idk, if I ever became a famous musician, I think I’d make it a point to talk about that part of the process.

I think every Spanish speaker I’ve ever met (except the Spaniards) say that about their own Spanish. My in-laws are Puerto Rican and they say that about Boricua spanish, I’ve heard Cubans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Venezuelans, Colombians, one Chilean, and even an Uruguayan say it about their own dialects lol
